Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Went out to check the size and thickness of the lip over the instruments, before ordering one of these:- https://www.banggood.com/Universal-NonSlip-Dashboard-Car-Mount-Holder-Adjustable-for-iPhone-iPad-Samsung-GPS-Smartphone-p-1137160.html?rmmds=detail-top-buytogether-auto&cur_warehouse=CN Bakee...

When a website is that short on detail I tend to get a bit worried. 😉

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

You're right about the cable tube, but I found a section of flexible heat-shrinkable ribbbed plastic hose in my local The Range's aquarium section to cover it with, then heated and hot glued the ends to form a seal. It's not quite OEM but it's close enough... Am I right in thinking that you cut rig...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Qwakers :- I'd be happy to describe how I did it under how not to do it! (Joking aside, that can actually be useful.) I see two particular problems with doing a a local repair: there's very little extra room inside the corrugated tube and it's very difficult to to pull out any significant length of ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I've never noticed any reference to it it on the forum so that surprised me.
I think the only good solution is a replacement cable tube but they obviously won't be readily available second-hand.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Refitted my dried-out rear lamp cluster, with new sealing foam in the hope it won't get water in, in the future. Also investigating why my 3rd brake light in the boot lid doesn't work. Is this a known weak point - here? Broken wire.jpg location of broken wire.jpg Well at least the reason it doesn't ...

Re: Cotswold AllSorts Monthly Meet SUNDAY 13th OCTOBER trip to Aberystwyth

Yes, great trip. I'm lucky some of them are my local ones!
Thanks for the company, and I hope I didn't cause any confusion / delay on leaving Aberystwyth (?)
I'll bring a walkie-talkie next time!
Splitting up, doubling back, losing people is the norm for a drive out but it all sorted itself out.

Re: Cotswold AllSorts Monthly Meet SUNDAY 13th OCTOBER trip to Aberystwyth

I'll join you later on than Brecon, if you don't mind. If I've done my sums right, you'll be coming through Llandovery around 11:40, and I /may/ be there to join you. More likely I'll join you a little after you leave Lampeter (near where you can turn down to the Falcondale Hotel) around 12:15. Don'...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Dave, probably, but it would be way OTT (at least at the prices I've seen). It's for the nut that locks the pressure sensors onto the tyre valve.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I'd like to buy a 13mm spanner like this, but a bit more substantial;-

If you google cranked, angled, or offset you get anything but this.
Any suggestions what to ask for?

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Banggood do a neat little voltage display module - cheap as chips - which you could wire up with a press to make switch.
Or possibly more useful would be a good old-fashioned (mechanical) centre-zero ammeter.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Xamtex, is your Mazda 3 turbocharged?
Not likely, but if it's like my Mazda 6 it's possible that oil is going from the turbocharger into the engine.
(In my case it consumed all the oil before I had an indication that there was something wrong. 😞)

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I'll be collecting mine soon from the local garage who've been replacing oil cooler pipes, and the original, rusty sump pan. Previously, I'd been checking on potential got-chas, and found this thread, which includes a diagram showing the bolt torque as 18.6 - 25.5 Nm: https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

FINALLY got round to completing the installation of my SOHN oil level warning light. I chose to have a separate light for the the two stroke tank but that leaves the problem of where to put it. Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I've been cleaning up my replacement oil coolers as they may be needed and found one of the fixings was so badly corroded that I sheared the bolt trying to unthread it. Here: IMG_20190915_173031618.jpg And in detail: Are these clips (that rusty bit, with a nut welded on underneath) a standard part t...
