Re: Fated to meet Mazda Motorsports USA

They did tell me they were talking to the ACO when I was at the track and there goal was to get to LeMans with the program They also joked that the ACO have never forgiven Mazda for wining  The Joest director did tell me that not wining consistantly hurts, after all they have won LeMans som...

Re: Clive's 520 BHP Super GT RX-8 Race Car

I so hope all your comments become true    I raced cars on slicks for many years and know the difference they make when they come alive properly, sadly when I tried ex-BTCC tyres once before they were too hard for my car and really did not work for me. I was faster on my t...

Re: Clive's 520 BHP Super GT RX-8 Race Car

Received my new slick tyres today, well new to me. These 10" wide soft Yokohama's were allegedly used in Macau which was the last race in 2019 on Rob Huffs World Touring Car Cup car. They do look very new and still have good meat on them, all six for £170 delivered has got to be a result and even mo...

Re: New Coilovers to replace Cusco’s

Maybe worth knowing that we were one of the first selling Tein when the product was launched in the UK some 18 years ago and this is only the second time I have heard of any kind of failure. The other one was a customer years ago who must somehow forced and broke the adjuster, disconnecting the adju...

Re: 4.77 Diff from R3

Here's a different take on gearing. When I put my S1 RX-8, that had a 6 speed box back to "road car spec" I fitted a 4.3 Auto diff and to me this was the diff that Mazda should have fitted as 1st gear became much more usable plus it was obviously more motorway friendly. On the road, acceleration was...

Re: Fated to meet Mazda Motorsports USA

Thanks Guys. Ranjan, Despite the money and level they are racing at, as you will know, It showed me so many similarities and that racing is racing and that a common thread exists among all racers no matter what the type of racing. Really nice that being just a club racer, the guys treated me at the ...

Fated to meet Mazda Motorsports USA

Wow this was a strange catalog of events over the last few days. Lisa and myself went to Florida for Christmas and at the last minute just before we left she changed from going to Cocoa Beach to Daytona and this started a stage series of events. Next as we were staying across the road from the Stadi...

Re: New Coilovers to replace Cusco’s

I am so tempted by this remote control system which most race cars have fitted these days but being so cheap I had my doubts about their reliability in long term use and so stuck with my manual Ohlins, but hearing that Clive has this fitted to his race car and has had no problems is a game changer!...

Re: New Coilovers to replace Cusco’s

Active with GPS. I explained to Rod that this was what was need for a great set up and spending more money on the more expensive kits was just not required. I also told him that as far as I was aware, the only other kit on the market like this is offered by Porsche as an accessory for 6K without fit...

Re: New Coilovers to replace Cusco’s

Pleased your as happy as I knew you would be :thumleft: . You wont set the suspension this hard on the road but on track I use 2's and 3's front or rear to get the balance I need, with 4-5 as my "wet" setting, which I used to good effect in my last race of the year below. Had I not been able to rese...

Re: New Coilovers to replace Cusco’s

Rod, I am sure you wont need any sort of upgrade as you have the extra GPS sensor incorporated in the kit. The built-In G-Sensor allows G-actuated automatic adjustment of damping force while driving. Additional automatic speed-sensitive damping force adjustment feature is available with the use of o...

On MRC we do a video of the day, but this one was so good I thought I would post it here as well  . Well done for having the patience to strip and repair the parts to get your Mot :thumleft:

As above you will find the FD quite unforgiving on track compared to an RX-8, however Jon has given you some good advise already.

None announced at the briefing and none in evidence trackside and at the speeds I was capable of I had plenty of time for sightseeing.
When I was out there was a guy taking pictures up at Druids who looked like he was maybe "official"
Perhaps Nick will know?

Re: Clive's 520 BHP Super GT RX-8 Race Car

Proud to say I upheld Mazda Rotary Honour in 2019 and last night at the awards ceremony, I was presented with the trophy as a Track Attack Champion for the second year running. Funnily enough, it was Kelly (RX-8 owner) who presented my trophy and she did well, winning her class as well =D> Been a gr...
