Re: Finding relays

One of the guys on Jeep forum suggested these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/375460304250, so one ordered to see if it fits.

Finding relays

We keep getting issues with windscreen wipers, AC, and engine These are (nearly) always a result of problems with the small relays in the fuse box. Today the fuel pump isn't running, which is probably the relay. Trying to find replacements for these relays has only come up with used ones, some of wh...

Re: Consensus of porting engine

Who are you considering for the rebuild?
Different shops can use different names, and versions, of porting options.
If it's a drive-in/out service then you need it to include the remap, to ensure that warranty is covered.

Re: Isle of Man Festival of Motoring - Sept 16th-23rd 2025

The motor museum at Jurby is worth a visit, just on it's own. http://www.jtmiom.im We went a few years ago, out of season, and had the place (almost) to ourselves. Got chatting with a gentleman over a Rover turbojet engine, as used to power the experimental car, and also as the starter motor for the...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

We were lucky in NI as it took 2 more years for E10 to arrive here, after being launched across England. However, apart from confirming the dangers of ethanol to many materials used in older fuel systems (hoses, gaskets, soldered floats, seals, etc) we didn't gain much from that prior experience. On...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

On a related note, I had an article published in Motor Trader magazine back in the mid 1980's, which was then picked-up and appeared in Bike Magazine. The subject of the article was the unintended implications of fuel additives, on older engines. Products such as Formula Shell were great at keeping ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I suspect that's another case where a fast starter can somewhat mask an issue. If the engine is spinning really fast on the starter, then much of the excess fuel could get blow out of the exhaust, before the engine catches. The start is then a lot cleaner. This isn't suggesting that a faster starter...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Certainly sounds like leaking injectors to me. It's not going to do any good but shouldn't do significant harm. The injector(s) that's leaking can only do so until the fuel rail pressure is lost, so it won't be much volume of fuel. If this is the cause of the problem then it will also be affecting t...

Re: Daily driver or second car?

We (almost) can see, across the lough, the salt mine that supplies much of the UK from here. https://irishsaltmining.com I wouldn't suggest that there's any connection between the owners of the mine and the guys that decide when to salt the roads here, but they seem to go overboard at the least fros...

Re: Daily driver or second car?

Once they start putting salt on the roads, that's the time to put the 8 away. Road salt is the main killer of these cars In Japan, it's illegal to put salt on the roads, and that's why you can often import a 10, 15, even 20 year old JDM car, and it will be corrosion free. They remain that way until ...

I can match that, with 2.9 8's on the property.

Okay, one belongs to a friend, though the .9 is definitely a rotbox!

Re: Daily driver or second car?

That's one advantage of having a 3.7L V6 Jeep as an alternative daily driver, I don't have to make decisions based on fuel consumption, as the Jeep is just as bad, and sometimes worse! Pauline's 1.8 20V Octavia is positively frugal in comparison, but that's just developed a rain water leak, flooding...

Re: S1 to S2 clutch pedal

Some cars here had clutch pedals replaced under warranty, including mine, but that only officially applied during the first 3 years, as with the rest of the car. And only if the original had cracked. I was aware that some managed to get replacements slightly beyond the 3 years, if the car had a full...

Fordscan is Russian, so may be banned in the US.

You need something that can do actions, not just read data, and certainly not be limited to the Powertrain, which is the case with things like TorquePro.

Re: Shock absorbers.

That's your call. The car is a special edition, and if you intend to keep it standard, then that's what's required. There are many alternatives, some better, some not so good, while price isn't the best indication. If you do go for an alternative, then you're committing to replacing at least both th...

You can only buy the actual OEM shocks via a Mazda dealer.

This is a price quote for reference, for a pair, not as expensive as you may imagine

I thought it was Lada's that were referred to as skips.

They only fitted a heated rear window, to keep your hands warm while pushing!

Re: White gear knob part number

I believe it's either FF70-46-030 @ £346.70 or FE91-46-030 @ £320.98, depending which Special Edition it was fitted to. If yours came with one then I can check for sure with the VIN. Those prices are UK dealer retail, not including VAT. Both are currently showing out-of-stock for Mazda Europe (which...
