Re: Bluetooth Stereo?

Mine plays happily from a USB stick. As I recall, all the files are just in the root, anyway it plays them fine.

The drives have to be formatted as FAT16, otherwise it can't see anything, so anything over 2BG is wasted.

Re: RX8 now officially cheaper to run than Tesla!!!!

As much as i love the RX8 i have never seen a car that drinks more than it In real world usage, not track time, our Jeep Cherokee 3.7L V6 drinks about the same as the 8. For example, Belfast International is a ~70 mile round trip from here and either car will use about 14L, depending on the amount ...

Re: Selling Up

This is one of three ST3's I had as company cars, and they were all a hoot to drive DSC_0404.JPG That said, they were all brand new (obs) and we only had them for 4-5 months at a time, doing less than 6k miles at most and so they were barely run in. We also had Volvo's with the same motor, and the S...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

The mystery gunk can be caused by switching brand of washer mix, that are incompatible.

With xenon lights don't forget to choose a brand that's certified for plastic headlights.

Re: Random free bits

I've not seen any relocated battery with air cooling arrangements.

Not having the heat soak within the engine bay is probably sufficient.

Cars with oem rear located battery often have a heated tray, to assist in cold starts.

Re: Bright headlights!

There seems to be a "thing" among some drivers flicking back up to main beam just before they pass oncoming traffic.

So not only is there the issues with poory adjusted lights but these selfish idiots think it's fine to try and blind you.

Having seen a VR with polished metal grills in the rear, which just looked weird to me, I'd have to Photoshop* some options before committing

There's no need to replace the shocks, unless they're leaking. The only other element that may need replacing when fitting these would be the front gaiters, where these guys are usually the cheapest https://www.mx5parts.co.uk/shock-absorber-dust-cover-mk4-15273 (yes, that's the same part as ours) Ho...

Re: Eibach Pro Springs

Fitted a few of these over the years and happy to recommend, as a direct fit to the stock (sports suspension) damper units, for a result that's nearly as good as the PZ setup.

Good for road (avoiding potholes) and track.

Re: Random free bits

Just a quick FYI, the battery tray has two primary roles, other than being cosmetically tidy. In a frontal accident it stops the battery +ve terminal coming into contact with the underside of the bonnet, as that's designed to crease into concertina folds to absorb energy. This is a major factor in a...

COFS installed and the line filled with 2T before connecting. I think I have a tiny bubble in the line just at the top of the bend, but should still be ok as it still seems to be passing through. Have premixed heavily on what is left of the tank and will check 2T levels as I drive to check and make...

Re: Best oil for use in COFS / SOHN setup

You'll not see any effects on a dyno. The quality of oil may effect the lifespan of the engine but can't have any impact on power. Some 2T oils are only certified for premix, as shown on the packaging. Any 2T oil that is certified for direct injection should be suitable for use with a Sohn/COFS, thi...

Re: Do new rear lights come with gaskets?

The oem Spirit-R rear lights should come with gaskets, as they're shown as such on the Parts List.

However, I'm aware of JDM Planet and others supplying "Genuine Spirit-R Combination Lights" that didn't come with gaskets, so the only way to be sure is to ask the seller.

Re: Paul's RX-5

It's rare for the MAF to die, unless it has been contaminated so badly, or "cleaned" with the wrong solvent or not enough care. However, the MAF housing can crack around the fixing holes, and/or the o-ring can fail, either of which can allow unmetered air into the system. It's becoming mor...

Re: Cobra 0168 Parking Sensor

The parking sensors were "dealer fit" using whichever supplier they preferred, so you're just as likely to find Cobra sensors on any other car, as you might on an RX8. Also, any RX8 with parking sensors is just as likely not to be a Cobra system. You might be better trying here https://cob...
