Re: Spark plugs - weird mistake

It certainly the case, when looking to buy a car, that "Full Dealer Service History" is more of a concern than a benefit!

Re: It seemed like a good idea at the time...

I find the issues with recycled blast media tends to be damp, which then causes it to clump and block the pipe/jet. If it's not noticeably damp, then going up a jet size sometimes works. The media in my blaster is currently a mix of all sorts of stuff, including sand, proper blasting stuff and exoti...

Re: Spark plugs - weird mistake

It tends to be Mazda dealers that do this - for some strange reason that must include arrogance. [-X The front leading and rear trailing would have the correct plugs, and it's the rear leading that suffers most from having the wrong plug, as the leadings do all the heavy lifting while the trailings ...

Re: Supercharged RX8

For many "modified" cars, the usual rule when it comes time to sell is "Every £500 spent on the modifications reduces the resale value by £1,000" unless it's easily reversible, and the original parts are included. However, this car is clearly an exception. It hasn't been "mo...

Interesting view, that confirms that R3s also rust just as badly as S1s - in case anyone still thought otherwise.

Re: RX8 underbody inspection and repair

In that case, the "donor car" that sits at the bottom of our garden is far from "beyond saving" as it's not nearly as bad as that. It was sold by the previous owner as having "an ECU fault" diagnosed by a self-proclaimed JDM-specialist, who had removed just about everyt...

Re: RX8 Engine into different car!

The MUCH simpler option would be to not fit an RX8 Renesis engine but go for a 12A or 13B from an RX7, much more mechanical and less dependence on sensors and electronics.

Re: RX8 Engine into different car!

The easiest way is to consider it as re-bodying an RX8, rather than re-engining an A40.

This approach means keeping both the PCM and instrument cluster from the RX8.

I can't tell from the angle of the photo, but has it got the tongue, lower front, that covers the hole when the lever is raised?

I suspect being an R3 made it so much easier, compared to an S1.

The result looks almost OEM :)

It's so easy to refresh the fluid, as long as no air gets in, compared to bleeding when replacing a pipe/caliper.

Did you also remember the clutch line, that shares the same reservoir?

Re: The First Project Car…

I've worked on two member's cars with seized calipers, both of which had recently passed MOTs. If the slide pins seize, then the caliper can no longer clamp the disc, it just pushes the inner pad against the face. It's amazing that this creates enough friction to pass the MOT brake function test - p...

Re: New 2025 MG HS Trophy DCT - Family wagon duties

Quick update on the door, it's going back in tomorrow for a new one. So that will be 48hrs from finding the damage to being in and a new door on it. Will update tomorrow, with hopefully good news. It will be very interesting to see if the new door is the same shade when it's fitted, and still a mat...

:thumleft: That doorbell camera must be a common issue, so surprising they don't offer something similar, at least a section on various lengths.
