Re: 2004 Not starting after 1 month
Does the CEL go out after the lamp test and when the engine is spinning on the starter? If not then the PCM may be preventing starting due to a failed pre-flight test. For example a bad signal from the ESS. When the engine is turning over does the exhaust smell of fuel? If it doesn't then there coul...

She's never been "an old banger" Clive, unlike those that have had to be restored.

Re: EV the future ?
At least when Gumtree says "These items are For Sale within 5 miles of your location" it would actually be only 5 miles, not 35 miles to drive into Belfast and back out again just to get to the other side of Belfast Lough.
Half the items "within 10 miles" are in Scotland...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
The nut splitter did the job on the drop link. Removing the nut without any further damage to the stud. 20220701_124957.jpg . However the stud was still crusty with rust so a quick dressing with the thread file and then cleaning-up with a die got it sorted. 20220701_131045.jpg . Note that it's metri...

Re: Potential Breaking Full 2006 Black S1
Pre/post 06 changes?
Does it have clear or black washer bottle? Bleed nipple on the brake master?
I might be in the market for a post 06 6-speed gearbox, though I'd prefer one with a known history and no issues with 4th gear synchro.

Re: Mini Maps and de-cats
I've been running a 300CEL aftermarket unit on mine for the last 4 years and 40K miles only recently has it failed ( no longer passing MOT) but it hadn't broken up , just poisoned ( I premix on mine) so no longer converting CO correctly so a 'benign' failure There's no reason why premix should pois...

Re: 2T Sohn/COF oil hose
It will take on the colour of the oil that runs through it, over time. This is normal though it can give you a false impression that the line is full, when it isn't. It also goes quite floppy when hot, e.g. running engine bay temperatures, again not a problem as long as it's run so it can't sag and ...

Re: EV the future ?
This is the reality.... A neighbour has just had a new house built, with gold standard levels of insulation and all the "green" stuff that her architect could included. The plan was to install an air-sourced heat pump for heating, which is the current government recommendation. However, as...

Re: EV the future ?
We have a device on our solar array call "Immerstat". It senses when the power generated exceeds in-house demand and feeds the excess into any resistive load - which by default it would expect to be a water immersion heater, hence the name. Same people have them connected to the old stone ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Only had an hour or so to work on the car today, so removed the offside rear suspension unit and rebuilt as PZ spec (spring & shock). Small problem with the drop link as I failed to remove all the rust on the end of the stud before winding the nut off. The nut got flush with the end of the stud,...

Re: Mini Maps and de-cats
Ryan Rotary Revs offer a remap by post, which includes a number of options. They also offer a remote bespoke mapping, based on full power runs collected on a laptop, though this would be better done after you'd made any physical changes. You might want to consider the insurance implications of a dec...

Re: Quiet but free flowing cat-back exhaust
I *think* it was SteveD that was working on another members car with a Pettit catback that was way quieter than anyone else's. It was brought to Steve because it was becoming more and more reluctant to rev out, just as you sometimes get with a failing cat, only it had a decat. Eventually Steve disco...

Re: E10 engine knock
We had three members with dual-fuel LPG 8's on the forum 10 years ago, though I'm not aware of any still running in the UK. One of the problems, that a friend with a dual-fuel Range Rover is struggling with, is that most filling stations that used to offer LPG on the forecourts have converted that s...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Yes, I wasn't going near the lower arm pivot bolts, as that means messing with the camber adjustment. However, they fitted new bolts to the brake hose joint, and the headlight level sensor, and a new nut on the arb drop link, all of which helped. The top arm bolts still had the copper grease on from...

Re: E10 engine knock
Mine definitely runs smoother and is more responsive on premium. The difference is subtle but noticeable, even for the passenger. For example when we drove from Essex up to Scotland, for the ferry over to NI. We left with a full tank of Tesco Momentum. At some point on the journey, with a near empty...

Re: Group Buy - PZ Prodrive exhaust system (catback)
Unfortunately not. Scorpian-Redpower are insisting on a pre-paid order for a minimum of 100 units before they're willing to progress this at all. We were hoping that Prodrive may have been willing to underwrite the deal, as part of they're commitment to support PZ owners, but the current financial s...
