It's funny how sometimes the smallest and silliest things can give you such satisfaction... Last week, while faultfinding what appeared to be an electrical fault (see https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=88078) I was reminded that there are two bare permanent live connectio...

I suspect your brakes are dragging.

The most common cause being the caliper slide bolts.

Anywayyy, for future-proofing will it work on the series 1 RX8s just in case I get one when I'm 20 or so?
No, the S1 audio system is totally different, with AUX support only available with specific firmware levels, while the head-unit also manages the Climate Control  [-X

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

The ARB is preloaded as I'm using stock length links on a lowered car, I have adjustables on the way to correct this, I suppose the preloaded ARB could cause this? Running standard drop links with lowered suspension doesn't preload anything, as on our cars the anti-roll bar isn't clamped at any poi...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

The difference in the ride height right/left could be how the suspension bushes are clamped. There are bolts each side that should be left loose until the full weight of the car is back on the wheels, to ensure that the bushes aren't under strain. However, there's a couple of things that catch peopl...

Re: Jumped in with both feet

Make sure battery is FULLY charged, then spin the engine over for a couple of 10 second bursts, with throttle floored. This is deflood mode, so fuel is cut-off, engine won't start but it should get oil circulated. Then start as normal, including the usual wait between ignition on, and turn to start,...

Re: New engine

Over the last 5 years we've seen way more cars scrapped due to rotten chassis than we ever had for blown motors.

Motors are easy to fix, it's the tin worm you need to focus on.

Re: Engine rebuild longevity and street porting

Street porting lowers compression .. Street porting only lowers the compression results, based on the standard test, because the algorithm used to normalise the measured numbers is based on standard port shape and size. This doesn't mean that it has any impact on the effective compression. Sent fro...

Re: Toyo Exhaust+Midpipe+Sports Cat

That layout doesn't cause tuning issues but it commonly creates a "Cat Fail" CEL because the 2 lambda sensor is before, rather than after the cat, so the PCM can't sense the cat working, even if the "sports cat" is up to the job. I say "commonly causes" because some peo...
