Fuel pump fuse refitted, ignition turned on and no leaks so proceeded to refit all connectors, vacuum box, piping, SC belts breath...

Re: Cosworth SC install

Toothed belts require less tension, so less lateral force on both the drive and driven shafts. However, they're much more critical regarding alignment, both static and under load, which often means that the mounting brackets have to be stronger, to avoid flex. They also don't allow any slip if anyth...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Lower figures at the rear are common on 192's, as the rear stationary bearing is a weak design, which then always the e-shaft to whip and the rear rotor to tilt. When rebuilding, always fit the 231 part instead. When I fitted my Sohn adaptor, it was one of the front oil injectors that I found to be ...

I'd fit this stuff, as it is relatively easy to mould into shape, requires minimal support and can be multi-layered

Re: It seemed like a good idea at the time...

I once spent an hour and a half repairing an old broom, only to come back in for a coffee and see an email from Screwfix where they were selling off broom heads for £1.99 and handles for £1.29 That afternoon I bought three heads (different types) and all seven handles they had left in stock. Trigger...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

"Always warmed it up" sounds alarm bells to me. It's great if it just means that he drove it gently, until at least the coolant was up to temperature, before giving it the beans. However, there's a lot of mis-information around that the engine should be warmed-up at idle before driving off...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Using Screwfix's own brand Trade Smooth Exterior paint, with the first coat thinned 5:1 with water. It's going on okay and hopefully will only need two coats. It's amazing how much it's already making it brighter inside as the blockwork is/was a very effective light absorber. Sent from my SM-G398FN ...

For my car rather than to my car today... Made some progress painting the inside of the garage workshop, which needs to be finished before I'm allowed to fit the PZ suspension units. Re: Double din stereo recommendation

There are still Metra kits being offered that only work with the manual a/c, as standard in the US, JDM and many other locations. These don't work at all with the climate control, as fitted to our cars. One member that came over to do some work had an early Mk 2 Metra kit that did work with the clim...

I was using a scythe to cut reeds, the day before my heart attack.

I thought that the pain in my arm and the crushing sensation across my chest were just the result of the "exercise", until the ambulance crew arrived

Every track I been on only allows slicks in certain sessions, if at all, and then only on cars with full regulation roll cages.

Re: ****TRACKDAYS for the Year****

My bet is on an oil burp.

Sounds identical to what happened to me with Ranjan's (now Chris's) car at Three Sisters.

That was a massive oil burb, even with a catch can, that we still haven't managed to pin down the cause.
