If you watch the video he states what standard the coolers have to be, basically the thread size and distance between centers that many aftermarket brands offer.

My 04 still has original oem protected by layer of gutter mesh, so undamaged.

Re: Mazda OEM Oil Cooler Prices - Astronomical

One option would be to source the coolers locally and just buy the kit from the US, as they're happy to do that.

That's the advantage of the system I linked to above, as it does have thermostats, that work better than the Mazda oem

They do, occasionally, presumably when a new supply becomes available, but it's like betting on oil futures.

Checking Mazda Europe's internal system now confirms what you were quoted is today's prices

Re: Mazda OEM Oil Cooler Prices - Astronomical

Like all vehicle OEMs, replacement parts pricing is based on a number of factors, including supplier costs, stock, and demand. In practice this can mean that specific prices can vary by 20%-50% (sometimes even more) from month to month. This can mean that parts that are handed, left & right, can...

Re: Carcoon sizes or alternatives

Compressor dehumidifiers only work down to 7C ambient temperature. Anything below that and they just create a block of ice, which then creates a big puddle when it thaws out. Some run a heat cycle to reduce the ice build-up but then still struggle. See https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic...

Re: It seemed like a good idea at the time MK3... workshop stuff... its the pits!

This works better than you'd expect, for the price https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/376353978475 Probably not good enough for paint spraying but makes a noticeable difference on the sand blaster cabinet, as the media doesn't clump together any more in damp weather. I just have to remember to empty it, as ...

Re: Has anyone installed this accurate gauge kit

I've been tempted, as he's developed the products over the last 3-4 years, especially as I'd looked at modifying an OEM oil gauge about 12 years ago, and realised how much re-engineering work was involved.

Re: Garage mistake. 1 second diagnosis. What would you expect as a remedy? (not RX-8)

There would be slight positive pressure from filler, so unlikely for anything to fall or get sucked in, and why it had sprayed out. You're lucky not to have lost the cap. Re: PZ mirror on R3?

Yes, they are interchangeable. Note that the PZ mirrors are even smaller than the OEM S1 mirrors, which are themselves smaller than the later R3 mirrors. I looked at fitting PZ mirrors on my S1 but having driven a friends PZ I found the limited vision scary in the traffic of South Essex /London, tho...

Re: Coolant Leak, Hose Disconnected

The oem overflow pipe from the header tank is short, so you can see if it's discharging. This would be great, if coolant wasn't so corrosive in open air and the discharge didn't spray over the electrical connections for the OMP and power steering, both of which are now rising to the top 10 of report...

Re: Mazda confirms Secondary Air Intake Pump no Longer Available

Given that the Secondary Air System only runs for a few seconds, after very cold starts, it's hardly a priority item. Many of them have become noisy, as they have been used less and less, as the cars transition from being "dailies" to other roles. There are lots of other parts, much more c...

Re: CEL code P0610-FF Help

It's possible that metallic debris, from drilling out the security bolts to remove the PCM may have got into the loom connectors. I've come across this twice with cars that have been mapped, and the resulting CELs and/or symptoms, can be bizarre and random. The first one we spent two days trying to ...
