It’s a yellow though. Could have been cut in half and I’d still try and fix it 😂

That's much better, thanks.

Good photos they are too.

Remind me next week, after people have had a chance to notice, and I'll tidy the thread up so it looks like it was always fine :)

The trick is to support the pipes while recognising that the engine must move wrt the bodyshell..

Nylon spiral wrap is great for protecting braided hoses, and/or other parts from rubbing by the hoses.

Re: Agathas new Engine install....and other bits.

There have been positive reports of running with one firm (polyfilled or RRP) mount on one side and a good oem mount on the other.

The offside tends to fail first, which may be due to the heat from the manifold and/or the forces from the exhaust.

Re: rotatopotato's R3

Take a closer look at the drop links as some have an allen key hole in the end to stop the stud spinning.

Of course that's no guarantee that you can get a key in said hole, that won't just round off, as these things tend to work better in theory than practise.

With coilovers it's easy to get mixed up between preload and ride height.

Check the manufacturers instructions and make that they're not going to be coil-bound on compression or rattle when extended.

Re: rotatopotato's R3

There used to be a video on YT, which I can't find any more, but it showed a guy trying to undo a suspension bolt on a 2-post lift, using a :censored: -off breaker bar. His mate joined him with a length of scaffold pole to go over the bar and they both heaved - at which point the car tipped-up on th...

Re: rotatopotato's R3

I know it's a silly question but.... are you sure you're un-doing it? One member was over with us to fit coilovers and I left him removing the original units, having showed him which bolts to undo. The first side was fine but he was really struggling with the second side, until I walked round and wa...

That's also consistent with the only reliable data I can find regarding seasonal fuel consumption differences, which is all about truck and van fleets. The study for the Police Chief Constable's concluded that any difference was within the variation of the data, when looking at petrol vehicles. Sent...

Yes, the increased rolling resistance for driving through even a small amount of standing water is amazing and goes up by close to the square of the road speed.

However, it rains in summer too...

Re: Fuel efficiency in winter

Running the heater, once the engine is warm, puts no additional load on that engine, unlike running the a/c to cool. Colder denser air increases available power and efficiency. You're right to call bullshit on the claims being made, just as TVs don't take 20% power just by being on standby. These &q...

Re: rotatopotato's R3

Better yet, get yourself a set of S1 cloth seats... - they're much lighter than the "leather" - they don't need to be heated, as not cold in winter, or hot in summer - they don't require the electric for adjustment - the driver's seat adjusts lower, better for taller drivers, especially on...

Re: rotatopotato's R3

Cheap cats can cook with the heat from the rotary exhaust, they also don't have a heatshield which mean that the surrounding area gets a lot hotter, sometimes enough to scorch the underseal - which could also be the source of the smell. Next time you're out for a spirited drive, drop your left hand ...

It would be interesting if his insurance refuses the claim, even though it's back on you, because his car was in an unroadworthy condition. It will be a clause within his policy and tyres don't become an MOT failure overnight. What he should do is make a claim directly to your insurance, not go thro...
