To clarify, "UK-spec standard S1 and R3" wheels are 18"

Other markets, including JDM and US, smaller wheels are much more common, along with smaller front discs.

17" wheels were an option in the UK, fitted with winter tyres, the same as Germany and Scandinavia.

There's a generic "misfire", there's also specific code for each rotor.

How old is the fuel in the tank?

When did the problem start?
What was the car doing before?

I have heard of people, that had a good battery and a "battery conditioner" permanently connected, spinning the engine on the starter with the throttle pedal ...

You're assuming the mid-joint can be undone and the replacement fitted without leaking.

There's a reason that dealers, and people rebuilding these engines don't mess with those pipe-pipe joints.

You may get away this this, and good luck to you, if you manage to beat the odds.

If one pipe has failed, the rest will follow soon.

The only reason for the additional joints in the original, is because two were prefitted to the engine ...

@junior_pl as an R3 exhaust, this won't fit an S1, without modification, at least to the hangers and potentially the tailpipes.

It's more common for the inner rim to get distorted by a pothole, compared to the outer, due to the offset, as there's more unsupported overhang.

This applies pretty much all modern wheel fitments, and means that most damage isn't noticed until the wheel is removed.

Wheels, tyres, brakes etc are "unsprung weight" which makes much more difference to handling, compared to any other weight in the car.

The rear lights used on the R3 are a different shape to the S1, so not a direct swap.

It is possible to convert the rear end to make them fit, which includes replacing the bumper with the R3 one....

Also beware of wheels that have been powder coated.

Places that also powder coat garden gates etc often have their ovens set at a temperature for steel, which is too high for aluminium alloy.

The damage done is invisible, as it's at the molecular level, but the result is that the wheels will ...
