Re: Exedy clutch.

IME replacement clutches often need pedal readjustment, at some point between 2,000-5,000 miles, if you're fussy, but certainly after 10,000 or more. I suspect this is due to the face of the flywheel being less than perfect, if not quite scored, so it takes a while for the clutch friction material t...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Been daily driving the RX8 to work and back this week. 90 miles driven & fuel gauge just below half way when I got home today  The fuel gauge isn't linear, due to the random shape of the tank. However, might be worth double checking that none of the brakes are rubbing, since that's the e...

Re: Mazda Bongo - 2004

Don't really know the history or plans for this one. It was dropped off by a friend that we allow to use the car park for "overspill", and he did mention that it was "meant to be going soon" - that was before Christmas - though he's had a lot on his plate lately. He'll be around ...

Disconnect the battery negative before the audio head unit, otherwise there's a good chance that the "anti-theft feature" will blow the track on the internal circuit board.

Re: The First Project Car…

"Corrosion of the rear suspension" may not be anything to worry about, as there's a lot of very thick steel components that can suffer from nasty-looking surface rust, without any impact on performance or safety. "Replacing all suspension components" is not a cost-effective solut...

Re: Front Numberplate Mount

There should be a blanking sheet covering the holes in the lower section. grill cover.jpg This wasn't part of the original design but was added pre-production as Mazda discovered during testing that cold air entering the engine bay at that height was causing chilling of the engine block. This increa...

See my correction above, which isn't a lot better.

However, this would be the first time I've heard of a joint needing replacing, which suggests that a used one should be fine as a replacement.

The Mazda EU parts database has them listed as available #MA02-25-60XB @ £470.87 plus VAT dealer retail.

EDIT: Sorry that was the S1 part. The R3 part # is MA06-25-60XA @ £403.63 plus VAT dealer retail

Re: Harry's Project Banana!

They should have the kit to check front Toe angle, as this is adjustable on all cars. However, very few production cars have adjustable camber, as ours do, and very few garages/dealers have the kit for that. The only Mazda dealer within 70 miles of us, not only didn't have the right kit, but they di...

Re: Harry's Project Banana!

Do they have the kit on-site to do a 4-wheel alignment, after replacing the arms, or have they got an arrangement with somewhere local to do this after, included in the cost of the recall?

Re: Check Engine Light - P0420 & Premix Question

Okay, so your opening description is the trigger for the CEL. Most likely your cat isn't working at all! However, the PCM can only check if the cat is working during a cruise mode, at fairly constant revs and engine load, just as you describe. Some people with a decat never see this CEL, despite hav...

Re: Hi everyone! New owner here

2003? That's a really early one. There would have been a few recalls since then, the most important IMO being the front lower suspension arms, so go to Mazda.uk and use the VIN to check, if the car didn't come with paperwork. Our cars also like to rot-out from underneath, so the older the more likel...

didn't have enough grey, white or blue to paint the trailer.... i did however have enough if i mixed it together... its a interesting colour, to say the least. its more blue tinted than the picture shows. That reminded me of the pink submarine - not enough red or grey, so they mixed it together... ...

Is this a trailer to be towed by the quad, or to carry the quad, or both?

It's turning into something you'd expect to roll out of Thunderbird 2 :D

Not my RX8 today but the JDM Auto that lives in our carpark. Started first time, in over a month, with the help of a booster. Drive around the private estate to get the fluids pumping and the brakes free. It's like a limo compared to mine, with soft suspension, 16" wheels - so more sidewall and...

Re: Rear Subframe Brushings...

They weren't specific as to which elements provide that rear wheel steering effect.

I had previously assumed it was mainly the suspension arm bushes, but it's possible that the subframe mounts have a role too.

Re: Rear Subframe Brushings...

I recall having a (translated) discussion with the RX-8 Development Engineers at a the Ford test track in Belgium, back in 2002. They were talking about chassis stiffness and flex. The RX8 bodyshell was the stiffest production car that Mazda had produced (at that time) and they were explaining how t...

Note that, if you pull the small pipe around, e.g. as you would when replacing the head tank, then that's enough to break off that spigot/nipple, so take care when "investigating"

Re: Best 2 stroke oil for SOHN

The OMP and oil injectors are expecting to use "standard engine oil" given the original non-Sohn arrangement, so you'd expect that to be fine with a Sohn. However, once the engine is running, the non-Sohn OMP is sipping oil from a reservoir behind the front housing, which is constantly top...

Re: FS - set of 4 x 18" BBS CH018 track wheels

As mentioned somewhere on the previous page, these wheels are ET38 which means they have the same stance as an OEM wheel with 12mm spacers, without the weight penalty, complexity or additional points of failure associated with spacers. This is the same reason I chose to fit Dotz Tougue wheels on my ...

Re: It seemed like a good idea at the time MK3... workshop stuff... its the pits!

Been there done that, only it was an oven element, that only tracked to earth once it was hot. It took a while to recognise the pattern that while one of the RCDs was "randomly" tripping, it only did it when the oven was on, and had been for a while. New element fixed the issue but, given ...
