Re: Kuro almost done - sell, swap or enjoy?

You're really asking the wrong crowd that question, as (ignoring the dentist) the only answers you're going to get is either; - "sell it to me" - "swap for my sick 8, so you can go through the process again" - "enjoy" You obviously recognise that you'd be lucky to get half that "investment" back, so...

Re: FS 2007 231 Titanium Grey

The DVSA are still showing a recall outstanding.
Was the last one only just completed, as it can take a while for them to catch-up?

If you post/PM the VIN I can check and see if the Mazda database shows it to be clear.

Unlocking for an update from the OP.
Note that the Committee has been informed as to the outcome and will be discussing whether LC Rotary should continue to be listed on this forum as Rotary Specialists.

Re: FS 2007 231 Titanium Grey

A couple of observations; - the date of 1st registration puts it just the wrong side of the (even more expensive) road tax threshold, not your fault but it may impact some peoples purchase decision. - it would help to show the underside and sills etc, for (lack of) corrosion. - what new tyres were f...

Re: Coolant bottle..

The problem with (nearly all) aftermarket aluminium coolant tanks is that they don't include all the complex internal chambers that provide the liquid/gas separation, which is a key feature of the oem tank.

Re: Struggling to start hot after rebuild

Even S1s, either built with the later PCM firmware or updated by the dealers, don't sweep the oil gauge needle. That doesn't mean that they don't reset with the 20 stomp process - as they all do. However, the full reset is a combination of the battery disconnection and the 20-stomp (1 stomp on R3's)...

If I'm correct then resetting won't make any difference.

Re: Struggling to start hot after rebuild

It's not normally this extreme but it's not uncommon for many cars (not just 8s) with complex Powertrain Management Systems, to get confused under these sort of conditions. Basically the air trapped within the intake is still quite hot from the heatsoak within the engine bay. The PCM detects this an...

Re: Portable/Cordless pressure washers

My general experience with pressure washers is that they use a lot less water than just a hose, even one with a jet nozzle. When I pressure wash our car(s) I'm always surprised how little water is left on the ground. That said, no amount of pressure washing, even with a snowfoam, will remove the thi...

Re: Lands End to John O'Groats Rotary Relay Drive. Crazy wild idea

"8 Ball Rally" Flaming 8 Ball.jpg I feel the need for stickers. Funny, I've only just thought of the connections between the 8 Ball and the RX-8 - "8" obviously - the triangle to set the balls up - a Magic 8 Ball is probably just as accurate as a compression tester to determine if your engine will l...

Re: Replacement air filter pipercross

We had Yamaha 1000 EXUP in the Motorcycle Workshop with very rough running. It had an aftermarket foam panel filter with an alloy mesh, very much like the Pipercross jobs, which had started to crumble and had been eaten by the carbs. Seems that the own had "serviced" the filter the month before and ...

Suggestion: If the convoy was zigzaging between overnight stops then the support vehicle could take a more direct route and still make it within the day. An actual breakdown may require the support vehicle to be diverted (mobile phone call) but otherwise it would be ready and waiting for the pitstop...

You're right to be concerned about the leverage on the hinges with the current aftermarket strut kits. If only there was someone within the RX-8 community with access to the fabrication facilities to produce the brackets for the strut ends and loom relocation to replicate the OEM kit ;) I'm sure thi...

Re: Rebuild following a blown side seal

:whathesaid: and you may need a vacuum bleeder as it's difficult to build the pressure in the clutch line, since the slave cylinder always keeps moving, unlike a brake. Be prepared for the fluid that coming out to be really nasty. Even when you pay a dealer to replace the fluid, as required every 2 ...
