Re: Loving this limited Edition Supra

It's just waaay to busy on the outside, looks like they've driven through Halfrauds and Demon Tweaks with the magnets on

And don't get me started on the interior...

Re: It seemed like a good idea at the time...

We've got those Antiluce drop latches on the tailgate of the trailer and I often wonder if the inventor made his fortune from them, or got shafted as usual.

Progress is progress and all looking good, especially the serious work lights :D

Re: RX8 Brake Pads

Just the standard Pagid pads, probably the same as ECP offering.

Get some Ceratek while you're there.

Re: RX8 Brake Pads

One advantage of the OEM pads is that they always fit without jamming or filing down the sides.
That's not be the case with many aftermarket pads that I've fitted, or others have struggled to fit during a trackday lunch stop

Re: Coil pack testing

The JDM firmware PCM (ECU) will flag if a coil dies, or "just doesn't look right", which is why they can't just bolt on D585's. The UK (and all other markets) firmware PCM doesn't monitor the coils. "Misfires codes" are triggered by uneven pulses from the ESS, assumed to be due to sudden changes in ...

Re: Coil pack testing

However, it's like overclocking a PC, you might get away with a little bit without any damage, but push too far without significant hardware compensation (e.g. forced cooling) and it will go bang. Kill a rotary coil in service and you might not notice until the engine goes bang. It's not like a 4-po...

Specific Coil Warranty - from current page on website http://rotaryrevs.com/garage/services/ignition-uprating/ Quoted here in case it disappears... Ignition Uprating It’s well known that the OEM Mazda ignition system is unreliable and prone to failure. What people often don’t realise is that in fail...

Re: d585 coils (or similar) to borrow for test

This is new news to me. Their website was offering " lifetime warranty " back in February https://web.archive.org/web/20190227123345/http://rotaryrevs.com:80/garage/services/ignition-uprating and still does today http://rotaryrevs.com/garage/services/ignition-uprating/ though the page is harder to f...

Re: d585 coils (or similar) to borrow for test

A set of original Mazda coils could be used for a quick substitution diagnosis test, however, as the OP has D585's today, this means that the Mazda coils would have to come with a set of known good HT leads, as they're different, and the test should only be very short, since the PCM dwell mapping wi...

Re: RX8 Brake Pads

Just one word of warning when buying brake pads, many brands, such as Ferodo, Brembo & EBC are commonly faked. Some sellers of fake parts have now realised that "too cheap" is a bit of a give-away, so they're asking very nearly as much as legitimate sources. I've been very happy with the Pagid pads ...

The leading coils don't spark when turning on the starter, at least for the first few seconds.

Had the cable been routed wrong, so it wouldn't reach, or was it an aftermarket cat with the sensor mount in a different place?

Even if you can't afford a rebuild, I hope this goes complete to someone that can, rather than being broken.

Re: Clive's 520 BHP Super GT RX-8 Race Car

@Clive I noticed in the Mallory race that you were driving with the passenger window open. How much does this compromise the aero? Back when I was working at Ford they did some tests on a Focus and discovered that, at speeds above 46 mph (iirc) running the a/c produced less parasitic drag than havin...

The way battery technology is going, I wonder how long it will be before we have affordable cordless TIG welders.

Not sure if you took them Dave or it was a combination of Ian and Crissy using the Camera that day :P
You're correct, those were Ian's, taken on his D60.

I was using a D80 for stills but mainly taking video that session
