Noticed tonight that the rear number plate lights aren't working, are there any things I can easily do to see if it a loose connection etc? Is there any how-tos?

This should be widely available used, as there are many cars being broken and you're the first to be looking for this part.

Yes, you'll need a helmet. You could borrow one or I'd recommend buying from here, for great value for money. https://www.ghostbikes.com/helmets-open-face-helmets/?searchsortby=PLH Note that these are not "automotive motorsport approved" but, IMO, they should be more than capable inside a closed car...

I've got to ask Nigel.

Does your ability to attend depend on which location is chosen, e.g. finding one that you've not been banned from? ;)
Or are you just pointing out that a choice needs to be made before anyone knows where they're meeting?

Re: Fitting "The Mouse Mat Mod"

My mouse mats are fitted directly against the core of the cooler(s) and have never had any problems with heat damage. This despite me forgetting to remove one before a track session, when I didn't notice until the lunch break, and was pleasantly surprised that it hadn't caused any cooling problems d...

Re: Fitting "The Mouse Mat Mod"

Those are the PZ grills, unique to that model. I believe you would have to remove the bumper to get them off. Not a big job, takes about 20 minutes, and a bit longer to replace, if the fog light connections don't cooperate. You could fit a mouse mat in front of the grill, held in place by small cabl...

Not just the 8 that gets "tin worm" :(

Our latest "other car" went for her MOT on Tuesday and, to be honest, I was thinking that there were a few things that might be marginal; emissions, handbrake, chips on the windscreen, slight weep from a driveshaft seal. [-o< But no, none of these were sufficient even for an Advisory mention. :D How...

Re: 3rd gear pop-out

Is it the correct short shifter?

Axial did a shifter for the S1 6-speed which doesn't fit the R3.

Be aware that metal oil caps get REALLY HOT and you won't be able to remove without a cloth/glove to top-up.

Re: 3rd gear pop-out

The S1 6-speed box is extremely critical on the type of oil used.
It must be GL4, not GL4/5 or GL5, otherwise you can suffer terminal damage.

The 192 5-speed and the R3 6-speed are happy with GL4/5

Re: 3rd gear pop-out

It was a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for "If the customer reports these symptoms...while under warranty" As yours isn't under warranty, that's not a lot of help, at least in terms of the cost. However, you're reporting "jumping out" not "beating the synchro" so much more likely to be related to...

I can certainly see the appeal of the R3 with the xenons
All, the UK-spec S1 231's have xenon headlights, as standard, too.

There are instructions to adjust the R3 gearbox but I think they're in the members-only part of the forum.

Re: It seemed like a good idea at the time...

Are the engines of a similar age?

There a slight differences in the loom pre/post 2006, as there's a couple more sensors on the later cars.

Re: Project N/A power Target 280+ HP

also wanted to see if Carl could make the tickover better when the aircon is on. This could be as simple as the magnetic drive clutch sticking. The PCM engages and disengages the compressor via the clutch to manage the tickover, it also controls the field current in the alternator to manage that lo...
