Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Honkytonk, the best thing about Brum is the road out of it. At least that's what we say in Coventry. Amazingly Birmingham had only been a city for just over 150 years where as Coventry had been a city for adding 750 years, something happened to Birmingham very quickly, but unfortunately it didn't re...

I got told the same at Coventry Mazda. It's either a technician thing (they like rotaries) or the staff have been briefed to say this to install a sense of confidence

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Those Polly mounts may be ok at idle, I found when I made mine there was significant nvh at higher revs through the whole interior of the car, however different materials and techniques may change that. Hope it works for you

Re: Yorins Definitely Stable Financial Decision I Swear

I found that the airfilter in the racing beat intake needs cleaning about every 6k when fitted with a scoop, also the intake itself needs hoovering out. If you don't you'll find you have a large flat spot mid range. Ask me how I know.

Re: Yorins Definitely Stable Financial Decision I Swear

I ran my racing beat intake with no scoop and no vfad duct for over a year with no issues, I did remove some of the plastic that sits behind the bumper though.

The lenses can crack around the joint, shows up as a shiny line, if it's due to dampness in the boot, it may be worth while getting one of those dehumidifier cushion things (look like a small bean bag) and place it near the affected light

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

They would of disconnected the battery to change the starter motor, this would of cleared the old fuel trims, they would need to run the car for 20 minutes from cold to relearn fuel trims, this would obviously of been charged for if they did it, but most will just let the car relearn by itself whils...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Possibly the best option for your hard pipe stud's is to cut the hard pipe, remove the manifold, remove the nuts whilst off the car then bolt your plate on. I had to do this to remove my old manifold when fitting a teaching beat one.

Re: Yorins Definitely Stable Financial Decision I Swear

So as mentioned yesterday I fitted my rivnuts using the bolt, nut and washer technique. I used a step drill to get s large enough hole for my rivnuts which has the added benefit of not punching through and damaging the bonnet, only issue I had was I bolted the bracket on the bonnet end the wrong way...

Re: Yorins Definitely Stable Financial Decision I Swear

I will be rivnutting tomorrow, but I'll just be using a 6mm bolt, some washers and some nuts (I've swapped bonnets to a non corroded one so need to reinstall the struts) is a little fiddly, but I'm not buying a tool for 4 rivnuts
