Re: R3 sump needed

I got a new C clip whilst I was there that holds the low oil sensor in place as mine was heavily corroded, only a couple of extra quid.

Re: ToyoSports Hi Flo CAT

Top tip for exhaust blows at joints I was told years back by a chap working at quick fit, use RTV silicone sealant and allow 12 hours to fully cure! When I heard this I laughed him out the door in disbelief but tried it once on a fire spitting Evo 9 that kept burning through gaskets and it never lea...

Maybe it’s a head gasket
if it's the head gasket what can I expect? Any signs to identify if it's the head gasket?
Sorry that was a cheap joke, but I can understand how someone not familiar with the car may not understand it as such, I retract my statement

Re: RX-8 going up in value?

Much like the Evo 10 and Sapphire Cosworth, the Rx8 will always be in the shadows of its bigger, more successful brother the Rx7. Of course it will rise in value as more are broken and scrapped for corrosion but never to silly money as it’s just not that desirable. Are you still looking for a good ...

I’m yet to touch a Mazda 6 speed from general experience with other gearboxes the bearings are pressed onto the shaft and require specialist tools for removal and refitting correctly.

Re: Low compression and high fuel consumption

Well poor mpg is relative, especially if you haven’t had an rx8 long. What you may consider as poor mileage we may all be content with as normal. It stands to logical reason that if you have low compression the engine will not be as efficient and thus you’ll see worse mpg but whether it’d be noticea...

Re: Engine rebuild quandry

First off congrats on making it to that mileage on original engine in the first place, how was it driven and cared for to get it there?

Secondly I’m pretty sure I’ve read in several places now that compression will continue to rise shortly after a fresh rebuild

High idle and irratic?

Hi all. After having my rx8 off the road for a three months, I’ve finally finished some work and took it for a spin today. Immediately as I started it the idle was jumpy and very high @ 3K. Thought she just needed warming up so took for a spin and even after 45 minutes whenever I come to a stop the ...

Re: New member looking for a tidy RX8

Thanks all, Bonnet is already off being resprayed. Attempted to do an oil change last night opened up a real can of worms. Appeared to have a small leak from the sump so I removed to reseal and it was very rusty. I rubbed it down to treat and repaint and ended up finding a couple of pinholes so now ...

Unsure what is a big or small mirror car? It’s a 2010 R3 model, still new to the 8s and their many variations.

Pic of car can be found here... https://www.instagram.com/p/CEzmxeKnSin ... 9sa9jfrba8

Help with paint code on R3?

My bonnets off at the body shop being resprayed and they’re requesting the paint code which I cannot find anywhere on the car?

It’s a grey metallic colour on a 2010 car I believe the right colour may be 38E from google searches but can anyone confirm?

Thanks

Re: New member looking for a tidy RX8

Picked one up at the weekend, budget managed to stretch to an R3 which was 5 hours away so it was a long day but a fun drive home. Only niggles so far appear to be a little spot of rust on the front edge of the bonnet and some pitted rear discs, drove home faultlessly. Lots of work to come to get it...

Re: New member looking for a tidy RX8

Isn’t it a 190 model though? I’ve watched all the videos been a fan of CarThrottle for a while now but even still I think it’s overpriced. Now at £3500 he’d have a buyer! Looking at a black R3 op’north appears very clean and buyer genuine but it’s a Cat D which is a little off putting. Seen all the ...
