Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Ahead of its MOT on Tuesday, I swapped in the custom v-band cat section that RRP made up as part of my exhaust 2 years ago - first time it's been used as the last MOT was done by other means... PXL_20240317_173527756.jpg Definitely muffles the tone a wee bit but not massively. Though the smell is gr...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Just did a bit of quick maths on one of Harry's latest purchases.....the 153k mile R3..... 153k miles at a generous overall average of 22mpg Is roughly 6965 gallons of Dino juice At an average price of £6 per gallon over the 15 years of its life, the owners have put a nice chunk of nearly £42k in f...

Re: Harry's GL04 MXU Project Banana!

For this job buying 5l of brake cleaner and a sprayer (wurth) is by far the cheapest way of cleaning up, rather than 100 cans of the stuff :) Exactly this 👍 I buy 4x 5l brake cleaner at a time off eBay/Amazon (whichever is cheapest) and I've got a Wurth sprayer, which is excellent. I use brake clea...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Jealous of the dual 8 owners - would love to have an S1 as well but that'd bankrupt me 😂 It's bad enough that I'm considering replacing the van with something very silly like a C5 RS6... Edit: forgot to say what I've done today to my 8. Gave the interior carpet a disinfect & vacuum as mould had ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Another obligatory "not today but...". I've been slowly, and then very quickly, getting my car back on 4 wheels after spending 3 months on axle stands in the driveway. Oil cooler hoses were never mounted correctly (bloody dodgy mechanic I've got 👀), so they're now done with the old mounts ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

It’s registered as a 190 everywhere I can look it up plus the rear quarter damage I’m just going to assume it’s secretly been Frankensteined with some 231 bodyparts In that case you've likely got a 192, if the redline is 7500rpm instead of 9000rpm (and there is no 10000 on the dial), then you've go...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

ive never met anyone who prefers the 5sp for a road car? its only upside is its stronger but at std power levels the 6spd is more than strong enough and it suits the rx8 much better... Just because you haven't heard of them, doesn't mean they don't exist 😉 I've had a couple of people say that, and ...

Oh dear 😬 that's usually it's happy place Assume Silviu will be having a look into your lean issue whilst it's there? Amongst other niggles yeah, It beeps at me when in the red so 🤷‍♂️ Been trying to figure the car out though as it is a 5 speed with no record of an engine swap but the frame sticker...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Aye control unit is a mentioned in most of my searches, and since it's on the back of the alternator and requires the alternator to be removed, I'm probably better off replacing the whole thing anyway.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Mines throwing up "Battery Charging Fault" with the STOP light lit, but it's charging the battery absolutely fine. Battery is holding a charge without issue (original battery too by the looks) sitting at 12.3v, and with engine running it sits around 13.8-14v as expected 🤷‍♂️

Re: Rubbish Company

Just going to chip in here - after being left in the lurch by my current provider (not their fault tbf, their underwriter stopped taking new quotes and had suspended renewals due to an internal re-shuffle and their other providers weren't able to help), Adrian Flux came through with quotes for the c...

Re: Harry's GL04 MXU Project Banana!

Thank you for being the first person (that I could find) who actually provides some specs of the type of armaflex to use 😂

So many posts of "replace it with armaflex" but I couldn't find one that explicitly laid out what armaflex to buy 🙄

Re: Harry's GL04 MXU Project Banana!

That tab is basically fubar at this point - mine actually broke on removal, they're really easy to break, and once they're weakened they're useless. I've tried super glue, storm sure, and araldite with no success - they just break off again.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I was just commenting on the person that made the initial complaint.

Although Dave is likely technically right, that would require a fully funded and manned police force in the UK, which isn't the case, so the likelyhood of any of those things happening is close to zero.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

They will have recorded your registration for future ANPR hits, and will pull you and prosecute if the defect isn't rectified. They may also suspect that the flames are as a result of a decat, so may also check that; and if found to be decatted, the car could be seized at unroadworthy and the drive...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

On the way to work today it finally clicked what my random intermit vibration at motorway speeds was, racking my brains. Today realised I must have slightly warped disc(s) but predominantly a sticking NSF caliper, confirmed by feeling the temperature of the wheels when parked! Rebuild/replace/upgra...

Re: Harry's GL04 MXU Project Banana!

If you're planning to replace the radiator, get yourself some Armaflex from your local commercial AC supplier, as this is way better than the original stuff, that will have crumbled away, to stop the cooling air bypassing the rad core. I did a search and see you mentioning this multiple times over ...
