Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Got a van on Tuesday so today is the first time since then I've taken the car out - keeping it taxed & insured, might revisit that next winter though.

Fitted RRP exhaust today (was Chris's) it's certainly quieter than the Borla that it replaced. Need to adjust my driving habits again
What's it like for drone at 70mph?
Ive got a gutted stock cat and a toyosport, looking at going for the RRP cat + cat back.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

The US Sohn tank solutions that replace the washer bottle don't normally cater for the extra outlet needed for our 231's, as they didn't get HID lights as standard on any of their models, so it's not that common. Obviously not an issue for a UK 192 either. Sent from my SM-G800F using Tapatalk The g...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I use the 150ml versions of these bottles for my premix when I fill up as I normally fill up with a full tank. They can be a bit of a faff filling up with a funnel, but I found that filling up an old castrol power 1 bottle with 2 stroke and then using that to fill the little bottles works with no m...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

My daily 10mi out & back to the local park is giving me less than 200mi to the tank (and probably isn't great for engine longevity), so I've got a van lined up to buy πŸ˜‚

How would that pricing look for a semi-pp build? 😁
We don't have firm pricing for that yet, the intake will be about Β£1250 but there are some savings on porting costs.. It will not be long until the first one is complete, its on the machine as we speak :)
Looking forward to it πŸ‘

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Wow, what a difference - feels like the steering is better than before it went bad!

Best thing about it is I spent Β£0, just a good hour or two faffing about trying to jack the front up safely.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Gave the pas connectors under the airbox a dousing in contact cleaner - steering is definitely improved but still notchy, so I'm about to jack up the front and clean/lube the UJ.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Very nice Dave, I'm hoping my next house will have a spacious enough garage for a two-poster. It would certainly be useful now, as yesterday I took the car for a drive to Glennifer Braes (lunch time walk - gotta love WFH), all fine, then I took it to the supermarket later in the day and suddenly the...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I also use momentum - premixing lowers the octane ever so slightly and these are hot running engines. Besides, US octane ratings are a different system (MON vs RON), so US 95 is lower than UK 95 IIRC.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

One hole I would poke is that compression doesn't tend to go back up once it's gone down - I'd say one of tests is incorrect or it's the difference between operators and equipment.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Took it out for its first proper drive since having the recall work done (airbags + fuel tank) - about an hour in, the airbag light starts to flicker/flash then comes on solid. Later when I took it out again, the light would clear, flash, then go solid again. So I'll be calling up the dealership tod...

At last someone referring to their car as "it" rather than "she" or some name.
I've been working my way out of this habit myself - it's really weird to refer to vehicles as "she". I also don't give them names beyond "the car/rx8/rotor" or "the bike/monster".
