Re: Paul's RX-5

Getting there with the paint removal. The paint hasn't adhered to the lacquer so it's flaking off nicely

Re: Paul's RX-5

Oh sh*t, glad you're alright! Fukin deer appear out of nowhere and can cause all sorts of damage, so good to see you didn't get off worse. From the photos damage doesn't look too bad? New numberplate and a front bumper replace and hopefully you'll be right as rain again. That's the issue... Front b...

thing is the forces you can apply by hand are tiny compared to the gear separation loads so it may feel fine spinning by hand by unless you can load it up you won't spot any roughness
True.it was only doing it under acceleration

Re: Paul's RX-5

Definitely bearing failure. Weirdly the bearings feel OK though.
The texture of the oil left in the diff was thick and pastey

And it's definitely a 4.1 and lsd winner.

Re: Paul's RX-5

Went on an essential road trip earlier. Got the diff.
Roads were really busy on way there, pretty quiet on way back apart from the bloody detour past stone henge

Re: Paul's RX-5

Certainly sounded like bearing issues. At 60mph-70mph there was an awful droning/grinding noise when on the power.

Re: Paul's RX-5

The diff is making loud clunking noises and the oil resembles paste and looks like glitter.

I've found a diff for sale in Bridgwater for £250. Just got to pick it up

I didn't realise Nigel could get the slaves going that fast!

Re: Paul's RX-5

It's 1" smaller diameter. I swapped the lsd unit from the 3.9 diff into the 4.1 cwp. I think I've buggered it up.
I can fit the rx8 diff if I fit the rx8 ppf, but it means cutting and shutting it

It's the mx5 unit

Re: Paul's RX-5

I think I may of just blown my diff. It's whining like nigels sex slave at 60 mph and above. If I dip the clutch the noise goes away. Definitely sounds like it's coming from the back of the car

Presumably the map shown in ME is not the one actually used? also where is the closed loop fuel target map ? you can set open loop but not closed? Interestingly enough you cannot s...

Re: DIY tuning/remapping with mazdaEdit and Openport

I had a bit of an advantage as I've been messing about with MS42/MS43 BMW ecu's. Got to know tuner Pro and romraider.
Mazdaedit is very similar to them both.
Hopefully the tips I've given VJ4 will get you going. Any questions, just ask. Throttle map is well worth modifying imo

Re: Data Logger

Forscan. End of.
You can log all of the engine /can bus functions. Torque can't access all of them.

Works on apple phones as well
