Thanks for the help so far. It's an r3 so sandwich plate not really an option. Couldn't get the blind plug out so will have to go for the oil cooler option with the an-10 fitting. Is it best to plum it in before or after the oil is cooled? Thanks.

Oil sender gauge - what adapter?
Trying to add oil sender gauges. What type of adapter do we need? Think the fittings are AN-10. Is this what we need? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220908/d11bf66c496998feec7bc5e8f00454e9.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220908/b006a0f2a91378a25d43727b9084b75c.jpg Sent from my Pixel 6 usi...

Re: BMW 1 series?
Thanks for the info. As I said the chain and clutch/flywheel has recently been done which is why I'm considering it. The electrics would be a worry though. Cheers guys

BMW 1 series?
So after dailying an r53 cooper s and having an 8 for weekends I have made the very wise and adult Decision to swap the mini for something economical but not mind numbingly boring. Been looking at a few options and like the idea of a 1 series m sport diesel MK1. The only snag I have is they all seem...

Re: Who fits gauges?
I bought that bracket off eBay for the last 8 I had. Oil temp and pressure but obviously can change to suit. Had to remove the top vent for it to fit but keeps the functionality of the vent and adds the gauges. Quite nice imo. Only thing I had to do was use some epoxy to secure it properly and stop ...

I've used Dwayne at Silver Fern performance before. Prices are fairly reasonable and he knows his stuff so I still use him when I'm out of my depth.

How much were the new arms? Do you have a link? Wondering how much cheaper they are vs OEM as I have been looking int swapping mine. I was lucky enough to bid on a pair for £80 on eBay brand new OEM with bolts. Was very lucky. Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk Definitely underpriced by the seller...

Re: Lower suspension arm bush play
Just a little update. Ended up buying a new set of arms with bushes off eBay and got the garage to fit and MOT it due to every bolt looking seized on. Took that garage a day to get the old arms off and they had to cut the arms in the end so glad I didn't bother! Got nice new ones on now and feels be...

Lower suspension arm bush play
And so it continues, Just a quick one taken the 8 to garage today for welding in sills which has been done. Had a quick look over and they're saying that the car has worn bushes on the lower control arms (see attached pictures) where the crowbar is there is a bit of play so was just wondering whethe...

Hi all, Just wondering whether anyone has any ideas where I can get a new pipe for the steering rack on a Chevy captiva? Mine has worn hole in it and has lost all fluid. Got the pipe off but can't find a new replacement online easily. Can I take it somewhere for it to be duplicated? I've attached a ...

Re: Brake caliper dust guards?
When you say rotted, are they structurally sound? (Give them a tap and see if whatever you're tapping with goes through! [emoji38] ) The reason I ask is that you may find that coating them in some rust converter and then painting them black might be all that they need Yes I've already tried that an...

Brake caliper dust guards?
Hi All, After recently buying my 3rd rx8 project I have noticed that the dust guards (metal shroud behind brake discs) are rotted and could do with replacing. However, I can't seem to find them anywhere new and was wondering if anyone's done this before? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers, Joe ...

Right, I see cheers. I'm not sure where they got that price from then. Will give them a call today to clarify it all. I'm happy to do it especially if it's cheaper than originally planned.

Stock ECU mini map - worth the hastle?
Hi all, I've been toying with the idea of getting my 8 mapped for a while now. It's a (pretty much) stock PZ and am enjoying it a lot as expected. It did have a slight missfire when I bought it, changed the ignition straight away and was running fine, so could be that I guess.

Compression tester arrived today(dct500). Followed the guide on here as well as the info sheet included. Disconnected the ess, fuel pump fuse and HT leads from the spark plugs. Tested both trailing plugs twice and when normalised to 250rpm and my altitude, got 5.7 on front 3 faces, and 6.9, 6.8, 6.8...

Re: Stutter @ 7k rpm
I have experienced the cat collapsing and causing the car not to start with a few different RX-8s so can confirm for sure it is possible. Your symptoms sound much like what happens when the cat collapses/blocks (Struggling to Rev/cutting out) so I would definitely start there. Thanks for the info. ...

Re: Stutter @ 7k rpm
The cat can collapse and restrict exhaust flow, which become more noticeable at higher revs. However, I've yet to come across an instance where the cat has blocked the sufficiently to prevent the engine from starting. More likely would be a problem with the fuel pump or ignition system. How many mi...

Hi all, Noticed on the way to work today when doing the usual beep of the day, it seems like it is down on power when I hit 7k to 8k ish, a bit like backing off the throttle. Am I right in thinking it could be ess or ssv? It's got RRP MK2 coils and good quality leads recently fitted so I doubt it's...
