Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

It did have a slight missfire when I bought it, changed the ignition straight away and was running fine, so could be that I guess.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Compression tester arrived today(dct500). Followed the guide on here as well as the info sheet included. Disconnected the ess, fuel pump fuse and HT leads from the spark plugs. Tested both trailing plugs twice and when normalised to 250rpm and my altitude, got 5.7 on front 3 faces, and 6.9, 6.8, 6.8...

Re: Stutter @ 7k rpm

I have experienced the cat collapsing and causing the car not to start with a few different RX-8s so can confirm for sure it is possible. Your symptoms sound much like what happens when the cat collapses/blocks (Struggling to Rev/cutting out) so I would definitely start there. Thanks for the info. ...

Re: Stutter @ 7k rpm

The cat can collapse and restrict exhaust flow, which become more noticeable at higher revs. However, I've yet to come across an instance where the cat has blocked the sufficiently to prevent the engine from starting. More likely would be a problem with the fuel pump or ignition system. How many mi...

Re: Stutter @ 7k rpm

I had a similar issue recently. Checked SSV, coils, leads and plugs, and no issues. Ended up being collapsed/clogged catalytic converter. Decat sorted it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Already running a decat so doubt it's that. Had the coils on my previous 8 for about 1k miles and didn't ...

Re: Stutter @ 7k rpm

Hi all, Noticed on the way to work today when doing the usual beep of the day, it seems like it is down on power when I hit 7k to 8k ish, a bit like backing off the throttle. Am I right in thinking it could be ess or ssv? It's got RRP MK2 coils and good quality leads recently fitted so I doubt it's...

Digital compression tester?

Hi all, In the new 8 Monday and have had time to think about car maintenance. I would like to keep an eye on compression, so it could be beneficial to purchase a tester since it's around £60 a pop at a specialist. I saw this on Facebook recently and was wondering what people's opinions are of it: ht...

Re: Insurance Quotes

I just renewed mine, £780 with breakdown cover. Surprisingly reasonable for a 19 year old! Was £1300 last year with a black box, so a very good improvement and without a box!

Almost a year ago now. Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Finally got round to fitting the gauges to the car. Took most of the day, bit well worth it in the end. Considering the gauge holder (vent) cost me around £65, I think it's great! (Tape and cloth to hold it down whilst silicone sets). https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200919/c908e9431283596a45e8119...

Re: Pod gauges!

Right, so pretty much everything has arrived now so will hopefully install this weekend! Just a quick question, the pod gauges has a dim function when you connect the extra wire to a positive wire. I assume I should splice this in with a wire to turn the main beam headlights on, but where would be t...

Re: Insurance Quotes

Just a quick one. I'll be insuring my 8 again in the end of October. Just wondering, for example, if my current policy expires 20th October, could I pay for the insurance to start on the 21st before my current policy has expired, and with that years no claims added on? Hope that's clear enough! [emo...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Put new PZ through for an MOT today, passed only with 1 advisory which is annoying as it is the same as the one last year (underside of vehicle slightly corroded). Even though it's been undersealed a few weeks before! Was thinking about the cruise control mod mentioned on here. Does anyone know if a...

Yeah, nice idea! The fella said he uses ASA in his FDM printer, which holds up better with regards to UV and is most cost effective whilst still being quality. I haven't a clue really but willing to take a chance!

That sandwich plate looks the same as one I ordered awhile back and was crap. I ordered one a while back to test for my set up and none of the threads where cut straight causing the temp sensor to hit the wall of the plate. Right, will look at alternative plates.
