Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Received the flywheel today from Scott at RRP... Lots of high points so its off to be machined and balanced for £60... Wish I'd taken the one from Luke Murdoch now but ah well.. Will eventually get my car back I guess... :/

Re: RX8 Brake Pads

When I contacted mintex they told me to contact Questmeads sales team to enquire about them. Fronts were 105 rears were 70 quid odd. Which is more than the group buy.. But could be less than ebay.

Re: RX8 Brake Pads

I was looking into getting some Mintex 1144s. After contacting Mintex they told me to try a local supplier. The cost came to about £200 quid total for all round which isn't the worst in the world. Otherwise I was considering EBC yellows too.. I'd suggest trying one brand this time round and another ...

From my understanding its probably not noticeable unless you drive one with it and then one without it there. Maybe even then you might not notice. Aha.

Re: Dern's 2015 GT86 Aero Edition

I think theres a reason its there... It just seems an odd thing to map the car as standard for.. But yeah it wouldnt be hard to map it out. Especially if you're planning an FI application. :p Many cars (and bikes) have a flat spot at exactly the revs that noise and gas emissions are tested for type...

If no-one local can do it Luke Murdoch most probably can. And then you also have his expertise for after the compression test.

Re: Engine swap

Putting a different motor in can drastically change the characteristics of the car. Take an inline 6 like an RB25/26. The weight distribution in the car is shifted entirely over the front axle. Great for a straight line. But completely kills handling corners pretty much. Alot of americans like shovi...

I suppose the extra 5 quid a week or so adds up to a whopping 250 quid a year if you drive it all year round!

Re: Are octane boosters worth considering?

I run tesco momentum (because theres no other high octane alternative near me other than possibly some Gulf stuff maybe?) and premix. I once ran my car on normal unleaded for a week... And I noticed a difference in how it was behaving so went straight back to premium. For the price difference of 5 q...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

There cant be much difference between the two so I think its going ahead with the RR one and figure out what ...

Yeah I mean Im taking it seriously. Im just not in a big rush to get it done right now. Probably a next year type deal if I put the car back on the road next year. Considering having it off the road whilst I get things the way I want to... Which I know can be a bit dangerous!

Re: Hello from a prospective buyer

That big of a difference if memory serves me right isn't going to be killer. I could be wrong here, but I think you want the chambers to ideally be within 1.0 if each other or that could be each apex seal. Ask which specialist did the compression test for the sake of it as well as ask for the none a...

Re: R3 Recall

I hope they are going to sort the damage out for you. I have to get our R3 booked in for its recall and I’m dreading it because of experiences like this. No I'd rather buy a new dashboard and drive 5 hours to have bigpete fit it. That's how much I don't want to give them the car again. Send them th...

The way it is in the picture is upside down... Turn it the other way and it should slide right over the end of the rail. I know I'm being a bit stupid about this, but it is way wider than the rail! Goes on the drivers rail closest to the door at the front of the seat. Unless its still too big for t...
