Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Not actually done anything with the 8 since I took it off the road last week! However, had some wood delivered today so I can make the frame for my shed to put it in for winter! Will be getting some more jack stands too so I can take all 4 wheels off, the wheel liners as well and properly wash every...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Then you are stuck with lovely Cat whatever write off insurance for some minor body work which imo is stupid. And the "antifraud" thing still makes no sense to me.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Yeah I imagine I'd struggle probably. But with enough modifications and an engine rebuild I'd argue the point till I'm blue in the face.

Re: Sad Day at RRP!! - Result are in! Engine Teardown

hello,i have read this thread very carefully, and i think i have deduced from it that James,by his own admission, has made one or two mistakes, and that RRP have gone way beyond the call of duty. My observation is,that as RRP have probably provided rebuilt engines for other diy fitters, and wondered w...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

The car not being "worth enough" shouldn't matter... Surely? AV would logically be applicable to any and all vehicles... Old enough? Ehhh I guess in the case of classic insurance then maybe but normal AV? Seems odd... Not bad though. Ill be doing the same for sure when my car gets back on the road. ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Thats odd. But good to know Dan! Next time my cars on the road itll be under modified insurance so agreed value would be sweet... Since I value the shell at about 1200~ or so... Which to me is more important than the engine currently in it.

Ouch thats a shame! However not the worst outcome, glad you're kind enough to offer James a lower rate rebuild. Proper customer service right there!

That price point is actually lower than what I paid for my car... with a lot less paper work and purely based on a solid chasis.. Can't believe this isn't shifting.

The shop price to none members is indeed higher. But that makes sense doesn't it really? To members its 595 after a year of being in the club if memory serves.

Re: PistonHeads Shed of the Week - Guess?

Saw this as a post on facebook... To which one commenter who said the car is a "horrible thing" later went onto comment and I quote. "I've never known an engine to derate like my one did when it got hot. 2 hours on an Autobahn and it couldn't generate enough torque to accelerate in 6th gear." I neve...

Thanks! Will take a look at those and figure something out. I definitely don't like having my steering snapped away from me due to little amounts of surface water and speed.

Re: Windscreen Demisting

That button just puts the AC on and all the fans that point at the windscreen up to 3/4s~. Driving the car in any moisture rich environment basically requires the fans on to clear the windows alot of the time. Also try cleaning your windows to see if that improves it or not!

Definitely need new front tyres... Roads were very wet today and I aqua planed about 3 times at not particularly high speeds. Got to figure out a tyre thats about 40-60 quid and good winter/wet road.

Re: Insurance Quotes

I pay 800 quid just for the 8. 😂 I use to have my mum on my insurance for my last focus but she had an accident against her about two years ago so I can't imagine that would make it cheaper. Might see about adding my Dad even though he lives down south next time I insure the 8.
