Re: Fitting "The Mouse Mat Mod"

Just to end the 'story', tucking the mat over the top proved to be near impossible, so off the nose will come next chance I get to do some work on the car.

For anyone in my position (i.e. with a PZ) coming to this thread later, Racing beat have a handy how to pdf for removing the nose.

Re: Fitting "The Mouse Mat Mod"

Thanks Dave, it makes sense it being a PZ part with it not appearing on the EPC. I think I can probably feed it down behind the grill over the top, but am worried about melting/setting fire to the foamy plastic without something between it and the cooler to prevent any direct touching (and also want...

Re: Fitting "The Mouse Mat Mod"

Hopefully a stupid question for fitting this- if fitted with what I believe are OEM grilles, do I need to drop the bumper off to fit the mousemat? I can't feel an obvious way these detach and don't want to go tearing out something as I'd like to refit the grille afterwards if possible. It looks like...

Re: Honkytonk's Black P-Shed

So after having a brain think and pulling apart the dashboard properly, I've come up with a scheme that may well work. Part of the problem with the 8 dash, weirdly, is that it's very well made. The packaging is tight, which means there are very few spaces to mod anything in. Behind the water temp an...

Re: PistonHeads Shed of the Week - Guess?

Depending on where in North Somerset you are you're welcome to get a ride along in my, apparently massively inferior ( ;) ), S1. Tbh, I think it all comes down to style. Now the R3 guys have weighed in on how bad the S1 is i'll say that I sometimes get the R3 confused with the Mazda 3. Because they ...

Re: PistonHeads Shed of the Week - Guess?

Welcome oberlo. The one that gives you the chance to drive more rotaries. Given infinite budget I think having more 8's would teach you more about the nature of the car, give you a chance to get your hands dirty and learn it mechanically, plus then you've got a whole other car for bits if(when) it p...

CAD Models of the 8

Hi all,

Not sure the best place to stick this (and it's a long shot), but I wonder if anyone has any CAD models of the 8? I'm thinking about the dash in particular, but anything would be a start.

Re: It seemed like a good idea at the time...

Perhaps you should put a fridge in the back, for making it extra cool. 8) I have wondered if a fridge mounted in the ski hatch in the back would be doable, but I think the way I drive the car, anything fizzy in said fridge would essentially become a grenade.

I'm already drooling and there's not even any garage equipment installed yet. Amazing work, and I'm dead jealous. Have been trying with a couple of friends to find a rental space for car work locally and it's just impossible, but your efforts encourage me to keep going!

I splurged this morning and bought myself an important bit of Winter equipment. mousematmod.jpg Red ones make you go faster after all. Re: Honkytonk's Black P-Shed

That's interesting Dave. I've got a full PCM/ignition/binnacle setup planned for testing, so once I've got it all on the bench and wired up in a satisfactory manner so I can take it all for a 'drive' that might be something I take a look into. Sniffing the CANBUS/PCM/EEPROM interaction in particular...

Re: Honkytonk's Black P-Shed

One of the bits that I really wanted from the haul the other day (for sale thread is here in case anyone wants any bits , or to help HT with his continued quest to polish a turd) was a spare binnacle/dash/instrument panel. I've been humming and hawing about the best way to get some proper oil temp/p...

Messing about pulling apart a spare binnacle to see how it goes together. I do have to say, in a very sad way, the light guides on this are very impressive.
