Re: Seized air con compressor/clutch
Inspect the compressor inlet and outlets for any signs of swarf. Also the lines to and from if you find any the system need to be flushed completely out. Had this happen at work where another Mercedes Dealer/garage had changed the A/C compressor and had failed within a week. So much swarf everywhere...

Re: Accident Repair Advice
Been in a similar situation with a Chrysler PT Cruiser was 18 months old at the time. Hit in the rear at traffic lights. Went into there Accident Repair Centre network, Got a fairly new C Class Mercedes till the repairs were carried out. I did send it back twice because I wasn’t happy with the repai...

Re: Aircon re-gassing
Just to add.
The longer the vacuum time the better.
25/30 minutes is what’s recommended.
There’s why there’s a variation of prices.

Re: Rebuild options
Well I would be all for getting it all balanced but not necessarily lightened. Even checked to see how good or bad it is. You’ll be surprised how some are way off the original specs. Especially if someone has swapped a rotor out. You’ll need everything that attached to the EShaft as well But not the...

Re: Merits or otherwise of setting an 11000rpm rev limit
Now I’m not as cleaver or knowledgeable as some as you guys on here. My recipe for wanting to stretch to that 11k limit would be. Clearance the rotors where they machine minutiae amounts of the rotors (Faces and Sides) in certain places to allow the engine to rev without stretching and not allowing ...

Exocet RX.
Has any one seen this before.
Exocet RX Kit car using the full running gear from a RX8.
Handy if you got a rotten RX8 with good running gear.
They also do one for the MX5.
Spotted on the Stand at the Retro show Stoneleigh.
No I didn’t go just sent a link.

Re: Jump pack issue
When the owner states he leaves it for long periods.
So undoes the negative terminals when he’s leaves the car.
So it will start when he needs it.
It was keep somewhere out the back of nowhere so no electric.
Had a nice long chat with the owner when I dropped it off.

Re: Jump pack issue
2.3kW is the later or 2.0 or 1.8kW depending on the gen right? So it has to be able to deliver 200A for the weakest (they are rated at 9V not 12V as there is significant voltage drop on the battery. If the car battery is only draining the jump start than its better to disconnect it. Also the jump s...

Re: Jump pack issue
We had the GB40 on trial at work. Despite the small size they only let me down a few times. But they don’t last very long before needing recharging. I went personally for the bigger GB70 which packs more of a punch. (which stays in my boot and a Halfords trade card made the cost more applicable). Pl...

Re: S1 6spd/R3 gearbox ratios
I’m sure mine revved past 9k
Just found this old thread.
Was there a different rev limit between 192 and 231.
Remember the old RX7s just had a annoying buzzer but they went a lot higher. 12k+.

Re: S1 6spd/R3 gearbox ratios
guys, you are aware hat the rx-8 tacho is not true RPM aren't you ? at 9500rpm indicated, the engine is spinning at 9000 rpm. Rotary Sprint got a calibrated Revcounter going in so readings should be bang on. Also keeping the 3.54 diff. So acceleration made be a bit slower than a RX8 but cruising rp...

Re: S1 6spd/R3 gearbox ratios
I’ve been using this one for gear ratios.
https://www.blocklayer.com/rpm-gear
More animated which makes it easier to understand (For me anyway).
Those ratios don’t look that far apart but added with a different ratio diff.
