Re: Exhaust sealant question $$$

You have it the right way round I think. For some reason I cannot attach any picture tonight but if you go to the workshop manual section on here you can see the exhaust diagram for the OE system which shows the thin ring at the front and the wire doughnut at the rear for the flexible joint. I have ...

Re: Exhaust sealant question $$$

In that case then I am sorry after raising your hopes but I don't have that joint. I have a cat fitting kit which has the metal wire ring flexible joint seal and a plain circular ring only, no gasket with two bolt holes.

Re: Exhaust sealant question $$$

The gasket on it own should be sufficient to seal the joint without any additional sealants, as long as the groove it sit in is clear of any old gasket or sealants. Do you want me to pm you my address and where the joint will be for you to pick up? We are talking about the single composite ring I pr...

Re: New D585 coils

If they are genuine Lucas then they should be OK but you need to be buying from an appointed Lucas distributor not just from an eBay seller.
You really are safest buying from a trader on here and paying a bit more for the parts that bought cheap can easily cause your engine to fail.

Re: Exhaust sealant question $$$

I have a gasket that I can post 1st Class on Monday and you will have it on Tuesday if that helps or take a drive over to Cheltenham to pick it up tomorrow. I will be out but could leave it out somewhere for you.

Oooops! That complicates things a bit. Let's see how things pan out tomorrow regarding whether we need to pay for 10 or whether Bacon rolls and cream scones appeal to Jez!

Slight issue with the bacon in that I gave managed to buy smoked, hope thats ok

Re: standard s1 discs are 323mm front and 302mm rear

Was just looking out of curiosity to see what is actually advised for bedding in new discs and pads... (personally I like to very gently brake at low speeds pretty frequently when first fitted then avoid the heavy braking for first 100 miles - just timed nicely for my next fill up as on half a tank...

This us why I am attracted to the Krown process where it's a clear fluid which is used for the internal and external surfaces. Plus it's not hugely expensive.

Ramesh/Chris - if there is any way I can get my money back then that would be ideal but appreciate its late notice, and I don't...

Re: S1 231 good used housing

If you fit PZ coil overs and at a later date decide you want to lower the car more or break a spring you could be snookered as once the imminent to arrive spring stocks are gone then they are gone. Better to stick with Teins or similar as not only do you get adjustability but also an ongoing spare p...

Re: Bleeding Brake Problem

I cannot recall if you have had the master cylinder in pieces and fitted new seals? If so then dare I suggest you strip it down and make sure the seals are fitted correctly and not damaged. Once that is eliminated then start the bleeding process all over again.

Re: subframe rust how to treat

I would be wary of this as they say "acts as a sealant" which in my head says it would also seal in any existing moisture and not penetrate and kill any existing rust. Probably just a coating of black tar like grunge.

Re: Downforce question and information

The lip spoiler on my car was refitted with quite thick foam tape and you can actually see witness marks on the boot surface where the spoiler has moved downward and rubbed. The force required to move the spoiler the same amount by pressing on it is considerable so it's certainly not just a cosmetic...

I will be going down the A419 joining the M4 at Jct15 Badbury Roundabout at about 9:30am so if that's on your route then how about meeting at The Plough on the Hill which is on the A436 just s...
