Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

That might get a closer colour match, but be aware that VR can be a couple of shades different from one end (or one side) of the same car to the other #-o Here is a classic example, same primer, same can. Only difference is that I damaged the paint on one after clear coating it so applied another c...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Good news Wayne, I just spoke to RB in LA and they are supplying two retainer plates for your Calipers. Fortunately they are quite slow in processing orders and my plate order is only just being processed today. Just as well because I have just discovered that the 16 seals I picked up back in Septe...

I think you find the Evo Stick glue won’t be strong enough. You really need to use an epoxy glue like JB Weld.

If it’s a stretching squeal then it’s probably belt slip. Just tighten the alternator belt half a turn and see if it stops.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Matching one panel in VR is nigh on impossible as it fades differently from car to car and also I think they could vary out of the factory when new!

Here you go. Base coats have a sheen finish which comes up sparkly when the clear coat is applied. I have never tried a panel only aero kit sections

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Velocity Red rattle can arrived today so I painted the to be re-sealed rear Calipers and the Cusco Brace brackets. Also popped, literally, the pistons out of the Racing Brake 4 pots using an Argon MIG bottle and braided brake pipe opening the valve very, very carefully! Work a treat. Discovered that...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Placed the order 5 minutes ago before seeing this sorry. Also your Calipers are different to mine and I am not sure yours are Racing Brake, (edit 23:08 see Ranjans post below) they look more like AP Racing Calipers. Re: Back to a red

Thanks, always worth giving someone the nod just in case. Braided lines arrived today so making up a feed line will be simpler. Various thickness pieces of timber planned as “stoppers” for progressive, hopefully, pushing out of the pistons.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Already done Graham. When I was there in September they gave me a retainer free when I bought some seals. My garage who removed the pistons then said they and the seals were fine so I did not use the seals. Looks like I should have done given the uneven pad wear.

Re: Supercharged RX-8 Engine Renaissance

Racing Brake have just one shim in stock, I was going to buy 3 as carriage would be same. Ranjan advised that Racing Brake had a problem with the retainers breaking and changed the design.
At least from that I know it not just unique to me!

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Nope, it’s a large one piece item and it just cannot come out as it is, hence my theory it fatigues and breaks under the central retaining pin. Looks like the ones i bought from Ranjan I thought they were racing beat , clearly mistaken https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200329/a90a8ee551d3ee489119c...

Re: Back to a red

Tomorrow will be a test of my ingenuity to remove the pistons from the 4 pots, a couple were stiffer than others so no doubt the cause of the uneven pad wear. Racing Brake have confirmed this is the likely cause of the uneven wear. I don’t have compressed air but I do have a MIG gas bottle of Argon/...

You could demonstrate to her how easy it is to fit a child seat into the rear due to the way the doors hinge.
