I'm not sure what the question is. Are you asking how to change the AFR? Or why a lean AFR reduces fuel consumption? Or why you can't do it with a cat? Or something else?
Sorry, was asking how running without a cat allows you to run lean. DrDan has answered in full, cheers.

Is that the garage/unit I think it is?

AFR is air fuel ratio. If you don't have a cat then you can afford to go quite lean at light loads.
Why or how does that work?

Re: RRP Performance Coil system MKII - website review now active

Serious question: Are those spigots needed for anything on the R3? Before we all go chopping them off? Mazda didn't make all the R3 changes (or the reasons for them) public. I assumed the gear knob internals would be the same, until I got the heat gun out on Sunday night and learned the shocking tr...

Re: RRP Performance Coil system MKII - website review now active

Seriously considering treating the R3 to a set of these in the new year..would you be willing to throw in one of those brackets as part of the deal :?: Also yes, I'd recommend you do, so far they are an absolute wonder. Though I've gone from end-of-life stock coils to these so the difference betwee...

Re: RRP Performance Coil system MKII - website review now active

Yes standard dwell needed - but I can do that for the cost of a biscuit :D If an S1 coil bracket fits, I should have a spare one. I'll have a look at work tomorrow. If it exists and fits, it's yours. I'm not convinced the S1 plate will be fit for purpose as there appears to be an extra or relocated...

Thanks lots for uploading that diagram! Will come in handy for hooking it up (which I plan to do this weekend, followed by some rigorous brapping for science).

Re: 09/12/18 Scottish Meet

Tip 1: Don't get feared by scary fast cars trying to eat your rear bumper, and keep your eyes on the track in front! Tip 2: Take it easy! Work toward your, and the car's limit, one corner at a time. Don't go nuts! PS. I have kind of salvaged the carnage caused by the gravel on the side of my car wit...

RRP Lightweight Pulley Kit for R3

Ello chaps. Just thought I'd chuck up a quick post on the lovely golden pulley set I got from RRP. Firstly, Carl's a saint! I'd order a black set, not knowing a gold set was still available. I pleaded that I may send back the black ones in exchange for the last ever set of golden R3 pulleys, and of ...

Re: Ignition leads Group Buy - Please Read all - Now MSD

For any of us who sought after the R100 set due to talk of dielectric strength, I've read on more than one site that the MSD leads are rated up to 102kv, so no worries there! Just to quickly reiterate, KV85 @60kv, R100s @80kv, MSD @102kv, while the new coils output 40-60kv. Happy to go for the MSD l...
