Re: Cygnus: Richard's Nordic Green 231

Next weird tasks: Retrim armrest - I could go for cream leather, but what's tempting me at the moment is finding a way of making a flexible sealed/lacquered cork similar to the accents on the MX-30/CX-60. If I don't do it on the armrest, possibly somewhere else, but the armrest is the most obvious p...

Re: Cygnus: Richard's Nordic Green 231

From Royal Steering Wheels. https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1230060#p1230060 Very nice! Not sure I can justify that on the car right now, but a nice-to-have for the future if the rest of it holds out long enough... Thanks to Nutty_Chappie, a wonderfully well-packed and clean h...

Re: Cygnus: Richard's Nordic Green 231

Gearstick gaiter replaced - pictures to follow when it's all done and reassembled.

The centre console lid button has popped out on one side, and so has the replacement lid's button. So I took it apart, heated the button over the gas hob and re-splayed the clips.

It worked!

Re: Cygnus: Richard's Nordic Green 231

My advice would be to see to the rust first just to see if the cosmetic stuff is worth doing, these cars can look great on top whilst masking issues beneath. I know from experience Mw too - this is the second time I've tried to revisit RX-8s. My first RX-8 was a new lease car so it was a flawless e...

Cygnus: Richard's Nordic Green 231

This is Cygnus. If you get the reference for the name, you win... nerd points, probably. There's a hidden dad joke in there, too. An unexpected buy, it's a one owner, full service history (and I mean full service history) example, with 74,000 miles. A compression test from 70,000 miles showing 7.2/6...

Re: RX-8 take two - Nordic Green

Had a day of normal cars yesterday - and then after buying it a roof cover the PT Cruiser decided to reward me with a sticky brake caliper. The RX-8's been giving it ideas. Anyway, the Cruiser had been out to the shops for a can of chain lube, so I went to check out the RX-8's 'rusty steering compon...

Re: RX-8 take two - Nordic Green

You may still be able to get the grills new, from zunsport, the stakes you may get from eBay or a breaker and chances are your ssv issue is related to the solenoid behind the upper intake manifold(if the ssv moves freely then vacuum isn't getting to it to operate it) I'm thinking the solenoids too ...

Re: RX-8 take two - Nordic Green

Hi and :welcome: back RichardK. :D I'd say nordic greens are almost certainly few and far between now - no idea how many there may be, but I don't recall the last time I saw one. This may help with your steering issues https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=47002 Excellent! ...

RX-8 take two - Nordic Green

Hello! Used to be a member - I had one of those low-cost leased RX-8s in 2006. That was 15 years after I started driving. https://autoshite.com/uploads/monthly_2022_05/073B5A80-A970-4308-B694-5151AD8A8094.thumb.jpeg.bc878bc7b89958115dd543901c082f44.jpeg 15 years after that, I just bought another RX-...

Two reds, both in Kelso. Didn't get the one I saw in the town on the roundabout from the bridge, but the other one I have seen a few times - K1 TCJ.

Friday, saw a black one with chrome wheels on the M6 - I've forgotten the cherished plate on it. It had a chrome filler flap, but no strakes!

Went from Carlisle to Kendal-ish, IIRC.

Saw a few around; I keep seeing one with a private plate like N111 K something in Birmingham around Erdington area :D

Heading to London last weekend (9-11 Feb), saw a grey one on a petrol forecourt and shouted "Nice car!" at the owner as I was busy filling mine...

He looked nervous.

And saw a blue one in the garage when my cat was getting done - xx04 HPC in Border Cars :D

Copper Red Evolve in B&Q car park last night. I wasn't in the RX8, I was driving my current shameful banger - £650worth of 1999 Astra TD estate (it's so basic, it doesn't even have central locking).

Saw a filthy Phantom Blue evolve on the M6/M5 area yesterday heading South. Passed it, we both undertook some MLOC idiots, and then I think I went a different direction (heading for Cheltenham). And I can't say much for the filthy other than "I thought it was grey" - my car looks awful aft...

I'm wondering if I can ask my dealer to offset the list price of the new alloys against the chrome ones... and if possible, how much the chrome ones would cost me! I really, really want the chrome wheels on my car. I suspect I'm a bit sad. Anyway, my dealer noticed the (very slight) corrosion on my ...
