Re: rear wing for track cars

I run a APR wing on my Honda but I can't get away spending £1000+ for a wing on the RX8, it's a joint project with my brother and he is managing the budget as my previous builds are on the extreme side. The car has big aero up front, has a full aggressive splitter with canards that goes back as far ...

Re: Pete's RX-8 Time Attack project

As promised, this is my latest parcel of shiny goodness: 20180525_234720.jpg As far as I'm aware, this is the first polycarbonate windscreen made for the RX-8. Plastics4Performance are a great company to deal with. They agreed the do the windscreen, gave me a delivery date, delivered on that exact ...

rear wing for track cars

What are you guys running for your track cars? Mine came with a cheap unbranded wring bolted to the top of the boot and the flex is unreal. It wouldn't even surprise me if cheaper wings like the one already installed created drag slowing you down. Airbrake wing :P Branded wings that are proven to be...

Great thanks,

Will do.

You get to the point where you have removed all the obvious but know others must have took it further but where and how have they saved additional weight.

Heater / air con weight (boxes under dash)

Hi guys, I’m currently considering installing a race heater to save weight on the track project. I need something to defrost the screen but I don’t need the overkill of the factory setup. Air con is long gone but under the dash I still have the two huge white boxes (heater and air con) Does anyone k...

Power Steering using Raspberry PI for track car

Thoughts...?? ;) Stupid idea? Ok hear me out. So... As we know the power steering on our cars can be very troublesome. It either works, doesn't work, it twerks and interferes with driver input. Having erratic power steering is one thing but for a track car you don't particularly want a system that m...

Warning...!! Do not buy cheap alloy oil drain plugs!!

It's ironic really... I had a heated debate with my brother about drain plugs because i spent £30 on a dimples one, he said he's never had a issue with his cheap magnetic one he bought off ebay. The other day i was doing what was meant to be a simple oil change on my daily, removed the sump plug tha...

Track wings...

What are you guys doing / using? The car came with a cheap non branded wing, most likely causing drag instead of downforce and the amount of flex through the boot is unreal... I was looking at chassis mounting off the rear bumper beam or welding something to the inside of the floor in the boot. Pref...

Re: Track car diet - remove crash bar?

I've recently had this debate with my brother and is ongoing. I've stripped every bit of weight possible and he gets very frustrated but... he wanted to remove the crash bars and i said no. I guess the question is, are you prepared to replace the shell if you have a good knock? Shells are cheap enou...

I've removed inner skin of bonnet.

Anyone considered cutting the inside of the doors out while retaining impact bars?

Same for other body panels?

Battery relocation time...

I'm going to attempt this mod over the weekend. These are mostly my opinions and what i have found, don't take this as being right or wrong info. Why would i want to relocate the battery? 1. The battery is heavy, i have stripped the car but removed more weight from the back than the front and i want...

Re: intake ports and solenoid bridging.

Great thanks for the info guys. I know Mazda did a very good job with the Renesis engine but they also have to take in to consideration driveability and fuel economy so it's always interesting to discuss from a performance point of view. With a modified engine as Ryan mentioned things change, i migh...

Re: Methonal injection

Yeah the main gain would be with FI.

A lower intake temp and a slight boost in octane would surely help all setups?

I guess the question is, would the small gain outweigh the weight of the kit with a full tank? possibly not.

Aftermarket throttle body

Has anyone done it? installed a larger bore throttle body?

Is there a complete itb solution available?

I see racing beat offers adaptor plates to install carbs, that would surely be a ecu / cabling nightmare.
