Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

If I remember 16 years ago when I brought my 8 petrol was about 86p a litre within a month of purchasing it fuel went up about 8p a litre or something silly I think your missing a 2 off the front of that 6.....or a 1 of the front of the 86. I'm pretty sure in 2008 it had long broken the £1 a litre ...

Re: My Other car - pics.

A new addition to the stable, I decided that my previous Cupra Formentor was lacking a little in the horses dept so have swapped it for a 310 bhp Formentor VZN in Mountain Green 0-60 in 4.9 should do the job until its chipped to 370 bhp. * * Del. Rear calipers

Hello all, I have a left rear caliper that keeps sticking, ever since a run in with a salted road in winter. The local garage are saying a new caliper is needed. They can source Pagid calipers ( not sure if these are any good ? ) but I thought I'd ask on here if anybody has some for sale first. I'd ...

Running rich

On my way to a kart race at whilton mill in Northampton and the car felt off. Struggled to hold idle and the throttle kept going up and down, even at speed. My fuel consumption was terrible. 60 miles was almost up to half a tank. When I got here I saw these codes. P0172 / P0335 / P2097 and MAF was a...

Car allergic to vanilla ice cream

Not sure this deserved its own thread but couldn't think where to put it otherwise. As soon as I read this I thought of rx8 'hot start' issues and how this could have easily been an rx8 at a petrol station instead of a Pontiac....

17 years of ownership for me as well, when I picked up my brand new PZ on 1 Sep 2006 at Mazda Colindale. The car still survives ... that dealership doesn't !!!

I was very happy with my rebuild at TPS, and have continued to go there after for servicing etc. I went with a streetport.

If you search the forums I have some threads on my rebuild experiences.

Re: Best gearbox upgrade for track and street?

change the oil the latest redline MTL LV ( 70/75W) can make a big difference if you still have original mazda jollop in there also adjust the clutch pedal link to preload the cylinder slightly https://www.redlineoil.com/mt-lv-70w75w - this stuff right ? I've used MT90 before and it was good. Last t...

Re: Need some help figuring a steering issue

I had a weird creaking sound at times, when pulling up on the drive, and steering pulling to the left in general when my front left lower control arm started to go. Think it was lower, might have been upper but one of the control arms on the left. Other then that resetting the torque sensor calibrat...

Re: Rebuild options

I have some experiences of rebuilds with a couple of companies and my personal recommendation would be TPS (Josh did mine). There are a couple of threads in 2019/20 that document my rebuild experiences. My rebuild with TPS was done over 3 years ago is still going well and when I checked the compress...

Re: RX8 Rebuild Survey

Filled in for both my rebuild experiences. RRP at 81000 miles then TPS at 84300 when RRP rebuild didn't work out. Compression was even and 6.6-6.9 2.5 years after TPS rebuild. At 13000 miles after second rebuild and engine still feels lurvely. Will test it again at service in August for data points!

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Fitted the centre caps from Keke ready for the meet tonight. Look very good and a massive improvement on the originals which have seen better days. I have them for each of my PZ wheel sets. Been almost 2 years I think and still looking good. Really looks better than the peeling lacquer look I had b...

Re: Happy 20th Birthday today to the Mazda RX8

Happy Birthday RX-8. I still have my original PZ bought on Sep 1 2006. The engine has had a few rebuilds and some of the suspensions bits like the front subframe and control arms have been redone. Also the doors are different due to a few dings but it's mostly the same otherwise. About 3k shy of 100...

Re: Jacking up questions

Ahh, sorry I realise you mean to use while lifting! Not just for axle stands. Honestly, if you're using your trolley jack to lift the car side-by-side and not the front or rear centre lifting points, I prefer to use the sills anyway on those pinch markers. With the little puck from the OC shop you ...

Re: Jacking up questions

For me - it's bolts or replaceable metal, so should the worse happen it wont damage the chassis Ok good to know. I am sure there was talk of using that plate but I started getting spooked that I would mess up the steering in one way lifting from there. That bolt seems to make a lot of sense though ...

Re: Jacking up questions

Sorry for the thread resurrection... I changed the tyres today. I managed to do one side of my car by lifting both tyres from the rear jack point which I can find clearly. When I did the other side due to maybe the way the car was positioned it lifted both rears and I was too nervy to change the whe...
