Re: For a giggle...

Oh well. I suppose if I had to lose out it was to a really special car. The track special sounds incredible.

Maybe just buy me a beer at the coach and horses some time ....

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I got mine polished up by RRP when I did a recent rebuild ( one of the nice additional services they offered ), so it looks quite nice and shiny at the mo. Am determined to give it a good polish in a few months time myself with something like UDS to keep it looking just as good. A whole days clean w...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Had it washed. And while I enjoy it being black again the scratches seem worse with every clean. I've had good results on my black paint with ultra deep shine from autoglym. Has fillers to mask the scratches. It's an all in one so you don't need a wax on top. In fact I bought autoglym high definiti...

Re: New Guy looking for a RX8

The one I liked best was when I had to change my rear tyres due to a nail on the edge. The tyre guy said that he heard if you don't start an rx8 every two weeks the engine will completely seize up. He knew someone this had happened to. Well not directly. Someone who knew someone. I've had mine 13 ye...

Re: Tyre Pressure Maintenance

I personally carry tyre string and a foot pump. Tyre string? Not heard of this before. What is this? What brand foot pump do you have, if I may ask, and has it been reliable and worked well for you? LMSAFY Halfords double barrel. Cheap as chips, short hose but fairly sturdy and highest volume per-p...

Re: Living with a RX-8

My PZ pre rebuild was showing 4's in one cylinder before I had it rebuilt and it would normally start although did take a few seconds sometimes. Mine is similarly a weekend car. After 8-9 days I would expect it to be ok, so check the battery drain and also of you can disable the internal alarm to sa...

Are you aware of the button next to the bonnet release that opens the boot? Chris Holmes can show you where that one is
I sense there is an "In" joke here, unless I'm missing something!

Re: Tyre Pressure Maintenance

Thanks guys. Some great responses as always. When I get a chance ( probably the weekend ) I'll be opening that bag at the back. Once all the moths have flown out of it, I'll be trying out that inflator. It will be amazing if it still works after 13 years but you never know. I'll probably update the ...

Re: New Guy looking for a RX8

well I currently drive a 2004 Honda Accord Sport with 150ish BHP but the motors I have had over the years have ranged from Toyota MR2 Turbo, Supra twin turbos, Skyline R32 Turbo, S13 200sx Turbo and other cars such as civic’s and MR2 and Supra NA’s. I’ve always wanted to have a rotary engine motor ...

Re: Markl17 - Track days

As a side note. In a kart the glove that stands out is the Sparco tide. The racing equivalent is Sparco Tide RG-9.

It has a special volcanic grip that absorbs small vibrations whilst giving you good grip and feel. They are expensive but definitely worth it, for kart racing at least.

Re: New Guy looking for a RX8

Like yourself I have had a fair few jap performance cars, I jumped into RX8 ownership with a PZ also, they are great once you get to know them. If you have had a torquey turbo car before they can feel lackluster, but once you get your head around the way they perform, especially on a back road they...

Re: Tyre Pressure Maintenance

The tyre repair fluid is likely to be out of date now, but just buy some tyre sealant from ECP or eBay. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F174147844155 Sent from my SM-T550 using Tapatalk This is a good point. I probably should update the sealant, whe...

Morning I am sorting through my track day kit ready for March and I think I need a good Tyre pressure gauge as at the moment I am using the one on the pump in the back of the car and I am guessing it is not very accurate, any recommendations would be very welcome also do any of you wear gloves on tr...

Tyre Pressure Maintenance

Hi All, Did a search but couldn't see anything so I thought I'd start a new topic. Recently my tyre pressure gauge and inflator have gone faulty so I'm looking into new options and wondered what people use and their experiences with each. 1) Tyre Pressure inflator I bought one once I found how inacc...

Re: Porting without affecting mpg-possible?

Another data point, street port on mine. I'd say 180-200 miles out of a tank around town. Most of my driving is a mixture of motorways and A roads, when I do use the RX8 for weekend trips and I'd say 220-240 a tank is easily achievable. I'd say my mpg improved after I ported, but I think the car had...

Re: Phone holder

I have the brodit as well but mounted a bit higher. https://www.brodit.co.uk/brodit/vehicles/Mazda/RX-8/2005/653301.htm Only annoyance in this config is that you can't see the temperature setting so have to kind of move your head over the central console to see what it's set at. Not advisable whilst...
