Re: Compression Testing near Milton Keynes

You've just missed out on Luke Murdoch who's mobile - he was in Milton Keynes on the 16th.

If no one local has a compression tester then Ryan Rotary is an hour up the M1 - they also do mobile callouts for additional costs. Compression tests run at around £60 if memory serves me correctly.

Re: Struggling to start hot after rebuild

Update: started on the button after around 40 minutes of sitting on the drive. I'd like it to not happen again obviously but I'll guess I'll keep videoing my start-ups (just in case) as a video would be a lot easier to show the symptoms than trying to type it out or describe it over the phone.

Re: Struggling to start hot after rebuild

You have an R3 - the '20 pedal stomp' method for resetting the ECU doesn't work. You have to disconnect the battery for at least one minute. I know that :thumright: I’ll ring RR on Monday to see what they think before trying anything off my own back. Just took it on a drive to get the temps up. Wil...

Re: Struggling to start hot after rebuild

The symptoms you describe sort of fit this model, especially as it started fine the second attempt, by which time all the trapped hot air would have been cleared. The "hot start issues" related to low compression would be after only a 5 minute stop, rather than the 30-60 minute. That's reassuring t...

Struggling to start hot after rebuild

So I've recently had my engine rebuilt at RR. Had the housings refurbished and ported, RRP MK2 coils fitted and a full service completed as well. I have covered the 750 miles for the run-in and had no starting problems whatsoever at that point. At 750 miles I had an oil and filter change done by my ...

Re: Relatively New Driver

how are RX8’s as daily drivers? Absolutely fine (apart from the woeful MPG). I daily mine 20 miles a day and get just under 20mpg. How are they to work on? Haven't worked on mine, but from what I gather if you're planning on mods then parts for the S1 are much easier to acquire than parts for the R...

Going through all of these makes me realise how little I actually snap my car - think a trip to the local beauty spots are in order once the weather picks up :thumright:

Re: New to this game .. and looking for a RX-8

If you've got the money, definitely get an R3.

Yie's R3 is stupidly good value for money, just make sure you factor in an extra £2,000 into the price for a potential rebuild considering it's got over 100k on the clock.
