Re: EV the future ?

For things like buses and delivery vans that perform regular trips of a known overall distance it sounds like battery electric will work (and is already working) quite nicely. It's a shame we are having to buy them from China though  I really hope Arrival or someone similar gets going in time...

Re: EV the future ?

I think you might be mistaken. Electric was the first vehicle to replace steam engined ones, or it was in the same time. But before the IC engines. Wankel wasn't even invented :) There is not enough lithium to make 1/10 of battery capacity needed to replace just the personal vehicles let alone prof...

Re: EV the future ?

Not sure what has a lower life expectancy rotary's or batteries but both exist. And despite one being around longer than the other, I can guess which one there are more of on the road..... Re: EV the future ?

Does anyone seriously think with the car culture in the USA as it is that a majority will be using EV`s in the not too distant future. :-k * * Del. Think you have been watching too much Richard Rawlings. The average soccer mum doesn't know what's under the hood of her car and doesn't care. They wan...

Re: EV the future ?

I really hope private industry is paying for those buses, without public money. The premium on them is huge. Now Hadyn we all know thats very unlikely... The government enjoys throwing money anywhere it can to look good without considering the consequences... Can't wait to see how big of a blunder ...

Re: EV the future ?

So we don`t think the oil producing countries, oil companies, car manufacturers etc will pour millions of dollars into developing carbon neutral synthetic fuel? :-k :race: * * Del. Who would want it? Unless it was super cheap. So zero rated for tax. Maybe shipping and aircraft as these tend not to ...

Re: EV the future ?

If I want a car that goes brooom brooom I'll buy a classic or keep the RX8. If I want a daily driver I can charge for a £1000 investment in Solar then I'll go Tesla/EV. Burning a gas/liquid to get movement is so last century.

Re: EV the future ?

Hydrogen is easy to tax so that makes it a good choice? I don't know if I believe all this world is coming to an end nonsense or not. But to compare the number of deaths before the main event happens seems a little off. We still have a few degrees to go before tipping point, apparently. Wasting 40% ...

Re: EV the future ?

I hope hydrogen is not the future. Anything controlled by big industry and the government can have the price rigged/taxed to the max.
Maybe someone will come up with a solar powered hydrogen generator for home use but with so many losses in the process, I'll stick to straight charging of batteries.

Re: Surrey/Berks/North Hants/SW London Wednesday 4th August ***7pm***

Well I am doing the 7 to 7 shift in London tomorrow so I probably won't make dinner. If the weather plays nice, I will pop in on the way home from work. Might get there in time to join Nigel for one of his 'small' desserts.
Have a great time everyone.

Hi Rudy,

Nice collection of rotary's you have.
I followed the instructions for cruise control I found on here and they worked for me.
Hope you can get cruise control working.

Re: Alternative performance direct fit coils?

I seem to remember back in the day that coils had a resistor in series that was bypassed when starting the engine as the coil was spec'ed to run on the low starting voltage and would burn out running on the full 14v.

If you are bringing the whole car over for a 'track day' and then going home again on a trailer, would they know you had the engine 'serviced' while in the UK?
