Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231

Just a photo update really as progress is going to be insignificant until I know in December whether the powers that be at Adrian Flux are going to let me keep it :(

Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231

So for the benefit of the maybe one or two people following this, a little #gushpost about my car - I'm genuinely so happy with my progress on the car, and very thankful to the people who have helped me both with knowledge, and with hands-on help with the car. I was looking back through some old pho...

Re: Project Oxymoron: The cheap money pit

Nice to find this thread, interesting to see the amount of work you've put into the car! Also at £500, it makes mine seem expensive!

Re: Who mixes their fuel

Yes, because the smell that running a heavy two-stroke mix on a decatted rotary gives off is damn near sexual.

Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231

Big thanks to Nick at 13Black Rotorsport - the RX8 is now running on fresh gearbox and differential oil, new belts, new oil/filter and new coolant, as well as being happier on tickover with an increased idle speed. Very happy with the quality of work and the reasonable charges. Now just onto the nex...

Re: BIG SCOTTISH ROAD TRIP 2017 in September

Unbelievably rude for people to just not show up with no word as to why - although to a lesser extent I know the feeling as a car salesman haha

Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231

So I did a thing! Finally, after not being able to find the time for weeks, I've fitted my Mazda Rev.C coils (£230 shipped from Mazmart, can't complain really) and thank god I did sooner rather than later... http://i.imgur.com/FDlYgOi.jpg Car wasn't showing any running issues at all, but now seems t...

Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231

Honestly not sure. I think it's just been coming off for a while as for some reason they were all ziptied together (presumably for neatness, in this obviously visible part of the engine) and this was causing Trailing 2 to pull slightly. One big pothole and bang, it must have come off. Car is okay th...

Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231

So, progress update for the few of you who have found your way onto my build thread. A couple of days ago, I took one small step for Luke, and one massive step for rotary-kind, and tore out the insides of my catalytic converter - it was in a sorry state (I guess you could say it looked 'gutted' :D )...

Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231

Not much updating of progress for a couple of reasons - one: work is pretty mental and I've barely had time to sit down at a computer, and two: there hasn't actually been a significant amount of progress. The car has been lifted up by ~10mm all round since the coilover install as it got a little low...

Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231 - Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements (RICE)

Very happy with the results of some significant cleaning work, and the new wheels from the photos that were taken by our club photographer. Also had the compression test done with all results in the base 700s.

Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231 - Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements (RICE)

Ordered some parts today, so finally I can get rid of the significant arch gap, and the corroded alloys. Also got my V5 through in the post so I can pop the new registration on it, and make it look older than it actually is :D

Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231 - Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements (RICE)

Got the paintwork resto. work done which made me happy, as the paintwork was actually in a not-great way. It has however helped me realise a few small dents, but getting these pulled shouldn't really be an issue. Got more photos too! http://i.imgur.com/MDROGyc.jpg http://i.imgur.com/VgNH26B.jpg http...

Re: rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231 - Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements (RICE)

Sounds like a decent idea actually before I start mucking around with it. It's having a full paintwork restoration (machine polish, clay bar etc.) this Saturday courtesy of a detailer friend, so it could be an idea to get it done sometime after that. Thanks for letting me know!

rx8ruku's Stormy Blue 231

Hey chaps, Thought it a good idea to start my 'build log' thingy nice and early, as I did it with my previous car and after I wrote it off, I still look back fondly over that build log to this day. So, the car - mid March 2017, I became the proud owner of a Stormy Blue 231, with the wonderful-ish St...
