Re: PistonHeads Shed of the Week - Guess?

The real question is where does the 40th-anniversary edition sit in the debate of s1 vs r3?! :D The 40th is an S1, a really nice S1, but very much an S1. That's where it sits. It's got really nice wheels and some features that were coming on the R3. Finding one for sale is the challenge as they are...

Re: 3rd gear pop-out

Was that from new though, or did you get your R3 used? Could it just be worn?
My R3 box (may it rest in peace) was smooth when cold. Until I mashed the internals to oblivion anyway.

Ahah. Id never buy a new car. Too much of a big loss on first investment. :p
I thought the same until I heard some of the discounts Nigel has negotiated on new cars

He's the Car Dealer Whisperer. Impressive are his skills.

I like the Mazda 3! It's a handsome car. Nigel might be buying one soon. Clearly a natural evolution from the R3 he used to have ;)

I hope there is a V3. Good luck finding another. Although rare, these cars are worth the wait and the effort!

Re: PistonHeads Shed of the Week - Guess?

Wow, guys thank you so much for the considered responses. I'm set on the RX8 for sure, I like how involved the RX8 is -encouraging maintenance and giving you the opportunity to learn a lot. The only thing my old 335i taught me was that you can buy an RX8 for the cost a replacement headlight!! But n...

Re: 3rd gear pop-out

Leck if adjustment as above doesn't solve it you can always get a used S1 gearbox fitted, they're plentiful and cheap as chips.

I had bigpete supply and fit one for me. All sorted in a morning. I'm amazed you've tolerated that for years!

Re: The Ultimate Man Cave (Warehouse) *Picture Heavy!*

I do have a set of four wheel skates, only really need the two on the rear to move it around out my way. The other two are just to confuse people who think my unit is out of use and park out the front over night only to come back following day to wonder how their car is now outside some one elses u...

Re: RRP Gauge kit - Group Buy

Good thing the R3 has a 12v socket in the centre console. So no drama if there's no USB port on any future R3 version. USB ports are only worth it if they're 2.4A anyway, most of my devices drain faster than a 1A charger can charge.

Re: ^^^TRACKDAY, Mallory – Saturday 9th November @ SOLD OUT^^^

That hairpin is definitely a 2nd gear corner. I suspect the difference you may have found rotary potato between the 8 and the boxster may have been partly to do with the conditions. First thing in the day that hairpin still had some frozen fog on it, and from mid afternoon it was very, very wet. Any...

Probably way too late, but if anyone wants to go along to this, you can use my space for nowt.

They can't give me a credit, so I'd rather someone used it than it go to waste. PM me if you want it.
Sorry they wouldn't give you credit John. PM sent in case it's still available and not too late.

Re: Buying an R3 v2

Bit of an awkward position here not wanting to comment against that car. It's a fine car priced low compared to other cars, probably because of the work that's needed to return it to stock. If the seller doesn't know what the aircon delete involved then best assume they removed all the mechanicals. ...

It has been mostly noticeable on rainy days/going through puddles but did prompt my girlfriend to say “is your car on fire” when we parked up  As others said keep an eye on your fluids just in case you have a leak. But it's normal when water hits your rad or is on the oil coolers. Wash the oil...

Re: PistonHeads Shed of the Week - Guess?

Oh I dunno. Think about the trouble some owners here have keeping their RX8 cool when it's 30 degrees for a few days a year. Imagine what it's like in 38 degrees ambient (and 50+ on the tarmac) and you're crawling on the freeway. Every day for months. Keeping that Renesis below 115 degrees can be a ...

Re: Sad Day at RRP!! - Result are in! Engine Teardown

Good on you all; qwakers, Carl and Scott. Yep. That's your 100% rebuild success rate still unbroken! Might be a good idea for members on this forum to stop suggesting that people simply unplug the coolant sensor if it's faulty and map out the code. I've seen that advice given. Replacing faulty parts...
