Re: Is this R3 sump any good?

Thanks, sorry it didn't work out. If you try your local dealer again let them know that Underwoods Colchester sold them to me for £225 incl VAT, so they can certainly improve on what they quoted you.

Re: Is this R3 sump any good?

Let's clarify it then. There's the lower part of the oil pan/sump. That's the part ER sell: http://essexrotarystore.com/product/genuine-mazda-oil-pan-lower-plate-for-08-13-rx-8-r3/ I need the lower part of the oil pan/sump. There's also the aluminium sump guard, which isn't part of or attached to th...

Re: Is this R3 sump any good?

Local dealer just quoted me £208 +VAT. But as it costs over £100 I have to go in and order it in person... which I can't do today (thanks Boris).

The price does change everyday but the variance we're seeing is ridiculous, and they couldn't predict what it will be tomorrow.

Re: Is this R3 sump any good?

The problem with getting one from ER is they don't keep it in stock and it's a special order item. Which translates to no fixed time frame which is a big vague for me given you pay up front.

Re: Is this R3 sump any good?

How much demand is there for those bottom plates? They look very easy to manufacture and machine from Aluminium. Even with some improvements I'd be surprised if couldn't get something out the door for less than £250 There must be some demand given that the Mazda prices rise with demand. I'd much ra...

Re: Is this R3 sump any good?

Crikey, £315 is a LOT more than the £243 that was suggested recently: https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=82579&p=1295935&hilit=sump#p1295963 Gonna call my local dealer and will let you know if I can get them to do it for a better price than you've been quoted. If I can get the...

It is making owning an RX8 very tricky and tiring. I’ve not seen my car since July last year. Don’t mind not having the car while we are in lockdown but would like to be ready for when things are over. Just an update would be good Take it as a positive indication that ER are busy. So they're not de...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

AA came, turned out the M13 nut that goes from the alternator was dead lose, that's why the battery was acting up, no clue how that happened. He also topped up coolant with about half a litre of water, went home (2 miles), seemed okay, just checked at 10PM after another quick test drive around the ...

Re: Mazda 6 idle for 10 months - now stalls approaching roundabouts

Normally one longish run should do it. About 20-30 mins of normal driving I think is preferable over a long idle. My 8 is more twitchy when relearning fuel trims because of the intake I have, so it stalls more easily. So I get how unnerving it can be when you lose all power coming up to a junction. ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Wow they are some good prices! RR although more expensive just being the closest to me once I add fuel in for travelling with 2 cars (one is to come back in after dropping mine off) and the amount of fuel money saved doing the run in on the dyno etc works for me. I'm not booked in until June anyway...

Yep. Even without staffing costs, all those assets have to be insured, stored and maintained. Locked down businesses still have costs like accounting and keeping a roof over the owners head. That government relief only helps if you meet the criteria, and had a healthy profit before all this given th...

Re: Is the rx8 a 10/10ths car?

I remember that video well when you dived up my left side under braking into Brookands at 10:13 and nearly rammed the Honda. Good fast driving but not really a good example of how to drive on a track day. It’s not an example of how to drive on a track day and never has been as most would realise. I...

Re: Does anyone know this R3?

That said, one of my tasks in the spring is to get the geometry set for both cars and also invest in some new rubber for the 192. At the risk of droning on about what you were already planning, I'd suggest only getting your geometry done by a specialist. I go to FW Motorsport in Chipping Norton eac...

Re: Does anyone know this R3?

Well, that seems fairly unanimous then. Is a R3 worth the extra money? They seem to be double the price of a S1 for not a lot of advantages. The Recaro seats are nice, but they seem to wear at quite low mileage, the engine seems to have similar rotor issues as the S1, the shell is stiffened but it ...
