Re: Thruxton 90db

And as Dave queried the intake makes a big impact on the test. Even though intake might not be a common consideration when the meter is at the exhaust. The K&N Typhoon (RIP) I had added roughly 15db to tests. That thing was insanely loud (and sounded amazing, I really miss it).

A 192 only goes to 7.5k
Any idea if someone could map a 192 to rev higher? Like how my 231 is mapped to go to 10k?

I run AEM..sounds like a big risk to do this track day. Will measure my sound on my phone(i know its not massively accurate), mrspiller would you be able to do the same for idle and at 6K(as close to exhaust as possible)? I use dB Meter its a free on ios. Would be interested in the results using ph...

Re: DSC modes

I'm fairly sure you can hold the button in for 7 seconds when driving to disengage the DSC/TC. I'm pretty sure I've done that when on a long straight on a trackday when I forgot to turn it off before going on circuit. I should add, I only tend to turn it completely off when it's interfering too muc...

Re: Help - Awful engine grinding

Thanks a lot guys, very helpful. Cheers for the videos Vinod. I had a fondle of the SSV yesterday (I always keep gloves in the car for touching hot engine bits) but it didn't stop the rattle, and the noise sounded like it was coming from somewhere else. But that could be down to echo and I could hav...

Re: ****TRACKDAYS for the Year****

I have been advised by a third party, not a circuit official, the The Castle Combe track day on Monday Will only allow shared cars for people from the same household ( not just same family) mechanics are allowed in the paddock only, but not on the pit wall or in spectator areas. All Entrants will b...

Re: Help - Awful engine grinding

Dammit. It's back. That awful sound happened today for the first time in over a month. I've had to drive a lot the last few weeks since getting the replacement alternator with zero issues, and it just started today after 20 mins of driving. As before it came and went and came and went on it's own. I...

Diff, need to find out what has gone on there and confirm my thoughts , Has anyone one else had diff oil leak issue ? Yep. I had a NS diff shaft seal fail a couple of years ago. The same symptoms as yours gave it away. You're still on the stock suspension right? So you'll have found that max camber...

Yep. You'll be looking at almost a third of the value again in tax and duty. And whether it's held at a depot until you pay or whether you'll be invoiced after delivery to you just depends on the courier.

Re: Massive backfire

Crikey, the previous owner (gonna blame it on them :) ) did well to get that much oil into the accordion pipe. The breather pipes were revised in the R3 so it's really hard to oil burp. I'm impressed and curious how they managed that. Massive overfill maybe? :-k On the R3 'full' on the dipstick is i...

Re: Alternative performance direct fit coils?

I ended up buying a set of genuine Mazda revision C coils and Magnecor leads. I could find no evidence in the service history that came with my car that in 55k miles, the coils had ever been changed. However, when I took them off, I was surprised to see they were revision B coils. I was under the i...

Re: Exhaust audio and GoPro tests

Good suggestion Stu, but it's not a ribbon mic. It's just because the pops between the gear changes are incredibly loud. I can measure it on the waveform as over 100db. Nearly gunshot loud. A tough volume for any sensitive mic that! I could move it further away from the car, but then we'd get more w...

Thanks for the info. Where is the common corrosion points to look out for, is it really that bad it’s killing them? How often do them Ryan rotary performance coils last? Also how much are service kits for these? Yeah you can get a Ryan Rotary Performance rebuild and fitted for a smidge over £2k. Yo...

Jon, Knowing my previous luck with Mazdas I have a nagging premonition that my car will be in a similar state of undress after Snetterton :crybaby: Do you have kind of time scale in mind for getting it back on the road? Ranjan. If it has any serious issues at Snetterton Ranjan, then I'll get you ho...

Thanks for the replies guys. I should have memtioned that the photo I shared was before I had moved the microphone to a more central position over the numberplate.
