Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Am off to RRP for another engine tune today. Fingers crossed it helps the mpg issue I've had since making some mods. But one front brake was grinding/binding on Thursday, so I decided yesterday to hastily replace the pads and service the pins. The calipers themselves are only a year old. It was mise...

Haydn,

Come and share a hotel room and share my car; cheap as chips.

Ranjan.
Very kind of you thanks Ranjan. Will seek approval from my better half and confirm either way asap.

Re: New Guy looking for a RX8

The 40th has sexier wheels and spoiler IMO but yeah they're effectively PZs with different external and internal trim. PZs were the only RX8 as far as I know to have dual rate springs. Can any 40th owners confirm? I suspect that the 40th otherwise has similar springs to the R3. Can I interest you i...

Re: Markl17 - Track days

Guys, Mark has recommended using Speed Monster Club to book this track day, they have a facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/824029448012610/ one has to fill in a form and send off a cheque in Euros, or travellers cheques will do. I think you can pay by credit card if you ring them up. Th...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Zero degrees last night and was forced to start it up for the first time in a year and two month due to not be able to push it back in my unit up the tiny slope and door lip on my own. Yet again much to my surprise, it fired right up with no fault and run perfectly. I'm impressed you lasted that lo...

Re: Another new member - Prospective owner !

Welcome! Lots of current and past MX5 owners here (like myself). Be sure to read all of the buyers guide that Shagrington linked to, it's all helpful stuff. Your priorities sound wise and there are some immaculate RX8s out there, mine was when I bought it. But it may mean being willing to travel lon...

But how can I continue to nag you to design an oil sensor/gauge for the R3 now?.... ;)

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Thanks for the tips. I do have a much thinner tube to try. Will just need to buy a new rubber hose joint first for it as I chopped my last one up for use with one of the thicker tubes today. The thin tube is reeeeally thin. I'm hoping it won't take forever to get the oil out even if hot. The extract...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Having successfully changed the oil and filter on the XF with me new 9L vacuum pump yesterday I thought I'd try it again on the RX8. The last time I tried it on the RX8 with a different pump was an epic fail with oil squirted everywhere. Today all I got was air sucking. No oil. Tried combinations of...

Can we please have more information, given that mods are deleting posts on your behalf? (!!!!!!!) When you see pics like this, do you find yourself looking around to see what you recognise, either car parts or tools?

I have the exact same extension reel

Don't buy a turbo auto Audi panzeresque brick of averageness. Buy an RX8. You'll probably get about the same MPG if you're driving it for fun anyway :thumright: Very true =D> . I average about 22-24mpg in our 3l Diesel XF... because life is too short. Should be almost double that figure

Re: It's a great car and other non-negative RX8 stuff

Picked up 3 large flower bouquets for actors today from the florist who apparently does lots of arranging for Eastenders (we got chatting). She kindly strapped the bouquets into the car so that they wouldn't move around in transit and remarked how great the freestyle rear doors are. It made it easie...

Re: r3 what tyres, 235/40/19 or 245/40/19 plus brand?

I've usually used different logic and gone for slightly cheaper tyres but fitted the correct size. Sizing does make a measurable difference, you just won't necessarily notice it. Nigel and I have used the Kumho KU39 for years both on road and frequent track and think they're excellent. Much better ...

Excellent. If we're doing The Lion I do crave one of their pizzas. At least there's the upside to small numbers of not needing to book a table, if that's the case. Brian, would you mind if I bring my camera and record your RX8 headlights to send on to Honkytonk? If I can also record your voice expla...
