Re: fuel economy 101

I often drive modern V8s that limit combustion to 4 cylinders when cruising (the Dodge Challenger for example). The idea being that you don't need all that power at steady motorway speeds and it saves fuel. Personally I don't like it. You can always tell when those cylinders are turned off and even ...

Re: FS 2007 231 Titanium Grey

I'm sure bigpete has a gear knob and steering wheel you could buy, yeah that wheel looks pretty rough. All things considered £3.5k does seem high if you want a quick sale. But you may get there if you're willing to hold out.

Best of luck

Re: misfiring , white smoke

I am reliably informed that LC Rotary / LC Motorsports is "no more" as a company ... no idea how this affects the OP but I suppose that makes the decision to "de-list" them as rotary specialists on the forum a bit easier? Uhh , that might not turn out very well. @Eddie_r32 I have nothing , neither ...

I would take it if you weren't on the other side of the country. Soz.

Just to check, have you still got the fixings? I know most are scavenged from the stock airbox, but I believe it comes with a couple of spacers for the front mounts and some nuts etc.

Re: I Saw You Today At ......

I saw two RX8s in a convoy on the A12 southbound near Kelvedon yesterday. A blue R3 followed by a murky red (?) S1. I beeped and gave thumbs up to them both, but both looked at me funny. Probably because I was in the electric car.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Couldn't do anything with my RX8 today because the repairer still has it and are being suspiciously slow. My 4 year old misses it and named it 'Blackbot' the day it left. Tried out the Renault Zoe in the RX8's space in the garage. Thought I may as well keep it inside. But it felt weird so that soul-...

You could interpret that photo as "you've just overtaken the lambo, round the outside of the corner" ;)
That's what I tell people when showing them my track photos "Look at that huge convoy of cars I had just overtaken!"... :^o

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Thanks Dave. Yeah everyone at the repairer has looked at me confused whenever I've suggested that that the energy could have been transferred further along the car... so it's worth checking beyond the body work. Nice to know I'm not going crazy... they're just not very good. Will be very careful to ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Van drove into the back of it a couple of weeks ago, just taken this long to get it off for repair. Insurance company have been very supportive so far. Their repairer gives me bad vibes though, so I'll be taking the rear off when I get it back from them and checking they actually replaced the damage...

Waved it goodbye as the accident repair bloke drove it away to fix it (hopefully properly). He predicted the painter will have a nightmare job matching the sparkling black with the correct level of metal flake. That seemed to cheer him up. I always thought my family were being dramatic saying they c...

And it's only a hundred bucks for that feel at the moment. Do you remember how much shipping was with raceroots Dan? The checkout won't calculate the shipping cost for me unless I give it my DNA and blood type first.

The deal with meets is.... just turn up! :D Is a good idea to post in the meet thread if you're planning on going and are new (as you have done), so that others know to look out for you. There's no obligation to take your RX8. Sometimes there are a few 8s, sometimes everyone takes their 'other' car....

Re: 231 FS, superb condition, low mileage (57)

Still very decent compression. If you're willing to hold on a long time for the right buyer they will probably pay over the odds for this car. Maybe not £5k, but it's definitely worth real money. Good luck.

Re: R3 / S2 Forced Induction

Yeah it's a big job, no doubting that. The conversation that started it was Fergus trying to tempt me to the REW over a supercharger. As in his opinion the REW would be more reliable than FI in a Renesis and (in his opinion) can be done for cheaper than doing FI properly in an 8 (which he is experie...

Re: Euro 5 and 6

There's a standard efficiency shorthand already for electric car drivers as you suggested Peter. All fully electric cars report the miles or km per kWh (shown simply as 'mpkw' in my Renault Zoe). So go on the electric car forums (if you can stand the smugness levels) and it's all 'mpkw' or 'mi/kWh' ...

Re: R3 / S2 Forced Induction

Had a chat with Fergus at FD Motorsport about this as he's currently fitting and tuning turbo'd and supercharged RX8s so it came up. I don't fancy that guys chances unfortunately. It's a lot of money and effort isn't it when FI on an 8 makes it so much more likely to go pop at any moment. Fine for t...

Re: Euro 5 and 6

It would be handy if it was possible, I drive mine around central London. The ULEZ standard will rise beyond the current Euro 4 and 6 at some point and the ULEZ will expand.

But yeah as Dan says there's currently no mechanism to challenge the given Euro rating of a car.

They were Firestone Roadhawks. The Halfords I had them died at apparently also did a wheel alignment I'd bet real money they didn't adjust it and told a porky pie. Based on the info we have there's no way your steering is even close to spec (which itself has generous tolerances). Unless there's a j...

Couple of photos from last weeks charity trackday at Blyton. Pausing track life now until the rear damage is repaired (and then checked).

Much quieter track year than last year, this was only my second so far in 2019.

What tyres are they Bill? I had extreme toe out on the fronts for 20,000 miles and never saw wear like that, that's bananas for 1000 miles. Yours must be proper snowplough and have odd camber as the gents said. Once it's been checked and sorted can you post up your before and after alignment results...
