Re: R3 Badges x3

Just as a side note, I assume the R3 badges were dealer fit as pretty much every R3 I have seen has had it in a different position (or not at all). Mine is located on the back edge of the glove box interior - WTF #-o Another random position, perhaps I need to start a ‘Random badge placing’ thread 😁...

Looks like one of the engine mount bracket bolts to me but someone more knowledgeable will confirm

Re: WTB rear subframe. series 1 231 (2005)

I have one as part of a car I am going to be scrapping soon, no idea what condition it is off top of my head but will check tomorrow.

Wings etc are rusty but I seem to recall the underneath not being too bad when I removed gearbox so subframe may not be too bad.

Re: Compression Test Results

My experience of the DCT testers (which I think you have used here) is that disconnecting the ESS is essential for accurate readings. Forgot pulling fuses etc, all you need to do is have your foot firmly down on the accelerator to cut fuel. A new, good quality battery is a good idea too. I do agree ...

Re: Cat scrapping

I haven’t scrapped one since before lockdown but a company in the north paying £600 has popped up on FB a few times.

Just to add, A1 pay by loading money on to a prepaid credit card which I am fine with but just mentioning in case.

I use A1 in Wokingham Alan, they will pay a fair price usually, sometimes a bit of negotiation is needed.

Re: Bodyshop help/advice

Nothing , it’s been sat around for ages so if can be of use then great. If you need a bumper I have a red one but would want £50 for that. In SL6 so not too far from Hemel.

Re: Bodyshop help/advice

I wouldn’t worry too much about a body shop that specialises in RX-8s, more one that has a good reputation for doing good work.

We all know VR can be a bugger to match so you need one that will get it as close as possible.

I have a rear door in red if you want it btw

Re: Any interest in my 06'

Being a low taxer makes it attractive. It would fetch £1000-1200 without a compression test imo, £1500-1800 with one (assuming its good!)

The top down motoring is what appeals, I have been tooling around in a stock NC recently and love it tbh. The pin sharp steering is great too.

An MX-5 with the BBR 225 would be seriously tempting for me, I mean I would hate to part with my R3 but....

How are you finding the change Ian? No regrets?

Re: Rebuild (self-removal advise).

Yes, if you have an old starter and a poor battery then of course the engine won’t be turning very fast when starting so your compression may not be as bad as you think.

Ideally need to see the part number label of the starter to know which it is or even better get a compression test.

Re: Rebuild (self-removal advise).

If you are in a position to take your time then do it yourself, not only is it rewarding to do, it’s not really difficult. My skills are pretty basic but I did it without much drama.

Have you had the car compression tested? I wonder if being an early car it perhaps has an older type starter?

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Yeah it's (almost) funny how much the prices fluctuate. The carpets in 2017 were only £22. And the FL22 I bought from them in 2018 was only £18. Holy variance Batman! Back in 2017 there were 2 choices of floor mat to choose from. 'Premium' and 'luxury' that the parts rep didn't know the diffe...

Re: WTB Wheel Spacers

Yes I had them on for a few days, no cutting of studs needed (R3 wheels)

I actually put the 25mm on the front as I believe R3 can’t go quite as wide as S1 on the back , it looked pretty good but would need lowering really to complete and not sure if I can be arsed with that

Anyway, if any good looking for £100 posted
