Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Not common, though at this time of year there is plenty of moisture for a hot engine to turn in to steam??

Hdy, over the weekend there was an ad for a very nice R3, blue and low mileage...wasn't quick enough to go for it...
That car had been advertised for a couple of weeks, was never going to last long with that mileage and a sensible (actually pretty cheap) price :)

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Re PZ suspension- I regularly drive a bumpy but quick route of quiet lanes, the way a PZ soaks up the bumps compared to stock suspension is far superior. The other noticeable difference between the two for me is when you are starting to turn in to a corner, the PZ feels more balanced and ready to tu...

Re: And the compression results are in...

I’m confused, won’t keeping the revs low cause more carbon buildup?
Hate to be negative but the engine sounds beyond the point of being saved by a regular Italian tune up, hopefully I will be proven wrong though.

Where did you buy the coils etc from and how much for?
Is the car still fitted with a cat?

Re: Buying an R3

As someone who sells cars for a living, I agree with Juey. A bird in the hand and all that but I guess the seller is prepared to risk it for £250.
Out of interest Dan123, would you not be prepared to up your offer a bit?

Re: Versatune (remap software) - GroupBuy Offer.

Having thought about this, it seems like a cool idea so happy to put my name down.
If we don’t hit the required numbers would still like the normal map done ASAP though.

Re: Buying an R3

Agree with Dr.F, I would buy the car. Whilst it is nice to have compression in the 7s, with a low mileage car like that there MAY be an opportunity to gently increase the numbers by looking after it and driving it like it should be driven.
But either way those figures are good enough imo.

Re: Versatune (remap software) - GroupBuy Offer.

I am interested as was planning to go for a map with RRP soon anyway.
The thing I am interested to gauge is how much ongoing benefit there will be once the initial map is done, will the map be likely to need to change much for cars that are not subject to further modifications?

I find the plier-type filter wrenches work best, they are useful for wedged on oil filler caps too.

Re: Buying an R3

I wouldn’t get TOO het up about the compression figures, as New Duke has said as long as everything else is in order - go for it! A 31k R3 is very unlikely to be running low compression in my experience. The advert seems pretty honest and straight-up so yes, an independent comp test would be ideal b...

Not sure if I’m telling you what you already know John but the coolant light is a very common thing , most just unplug the sensor and check the level periodically.

Hello and welcome! This question has been asked regularly and unsurprisingly, divides opinion. My opinion is the R3 is worth the extra money, this is based on the better looks (imo) better interior and the extra few features it has. There have been a few threads containing people’s opinion, here is ...
