When your car got nicked did they unbolt out or cut it off ?

I’ve just put an android head in the sat nav, still working on it but it looks good

Trying to figure out how to get the old sat nav control to do skip mute pause display off/on via the steering control input but don't want to butcher it and pick up the switches, anyone know about the comms interface between the buttons and old sat nav, is it can bus, rs232, what .....? got a reed switch and magnet in the hood to turn off the display via the steering control on the android head unit, having a small problem wit its GPS connector its a little too long to fit in the hood cover...might have cut it off as I can't seem to desolder it and don't want to damage the PCB.

Anyone else had a crack at this, I'm making progress with this £85 unit from Gearbest running Android 8 go
