Re: Ray Harrison (Harrizone) RIP
Sad news. Ray was a kind and generous person, who was instrumental in making the Club what it is. He helped me on many occasions. He will be missed. To see Ray sliding a Rex around a race circuit was to remind us all what the true joy of cars is...

Re: Electric SUPERCHARGER
Could you operate like NOS and only use "on demand", taking power from a dedicated battery that isn't expected to be re-charged as you drive, for a huge power boost, without the s/c getting in the way of the intake airflow at other times? That gets very complicated very quickly. Imagine i...

I'm interested to know if this is a goer as well. My concern would be that, if you manage to take enough glass away to remove a scratch, will you change the optics of the glass? I'd rather look through a scratch than a distorted view.

Re: Air Filters - HKS or K&N? And what needs oiling?!
Erm Mazda... Seriously, it will probably flow as much as the aftermarket stuff, and filter better. The K&N oil is a very light dusting of oil on the 'sponge'. It is there to trap the smaller bits of dust that would otherwise work their way through the sponge. It is required because the K&N d...

Re: COOLANT coming out through starter motor
Finding a leaking hose isn't too difficult, particularly if the leak is a big as this one seems to be. Just fill it up and get underneath the car. All the hoses are fairly visible. If it's a hose near the top of the engine then you may have to fill it right up to make it leak. Fill it right up, then...

Pah! That's nothing. My dad emptied a jerry can of diesel into the boot of his Peugeot 206. That required a new car.

For those confused by this. 2k paint usually contains "isocyanates". These are known to cause asthma and dermatitis. They are not the same thing as cyanide, isocyanide, or cyanates. Apparently, spray booth operators are 90 times more likely to develop asthma than average, so best not to go...

The only other option was first Dave, and I'd like to see anyone try to get the power down in first. I've never used first on any track. Actually, this is a situation where running the 5.1 diff ratio is a major advantage. Pulling out of the hairpins at Snetterton, Croft and Oulton Park was n...

Re: FORscan for the RX8
That's probably it.
Just for reference, using an RX8 rack doesn't mean you have the RX8 steering ratio. It also depends on the steering arm length. 13Black has short steering arms on his drift RX8 and he gets DSC interference if he drives "normally" without disabling it.

Re: FORscan for the RX8
The DSC maths will use the steering ratio, the car's wheelbase and track width, and car speed, to work out if the car is under steering or over steering. The most important of these will be the steering ratio. If the MX5 has a different rack, with a different overall steering ratio, then the DSC mod...

Re: Clive's 520 BHP Super GT RX-8 Race Car
That look really unfortunate, and pretty unavoidable. You were not over-braking, since you were slowing at the same rate as the Clio. And in the wet it's usually front locking that is the problem, not rear locking, so to have it snap round like that would have been a surprise. You also got on full o...

I use this type. It gives the piston no option but to go in! https://www.screwfix.com/p/laser-adjustable-brake-caliper-rewind-tool/1237J?kpid=1237J&ds_kid=92700046638549236&ds_rl=1243318&ds_rl=1241687&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1245250&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2ITuBRDkARIsAMK9Q7NtjL7yhFh9Sc0xn...

Re: Brake Disc Minimum Thickness?
Loosen the bleed nipple, and be prepared for pushing the fluid out of it. The piston doesn't actually screw in, it's just that you can't push it in without screwing (if you see what I mean). So you do need a fair bit of push to get it to go in. Are you using a proper wind-in tool? Personally I would...

Ahhhhhhhh. That makes sense. Found it now that you said that. There's a link to a forum post if you scroll to the bottom of the shop listing. Ferrari GTC4Lusso.
I doubt it's your perfect car (not discrete), but it's certainly the one I'd like to spend 24 hours in! (And I can say that because McLaren don't make a competitor..... )

Another possibility is the engine mounts. You can visually check them. Search on this forum for failed engine mounts for photos of what to look for.

the gearbox graph should match engine out put. You show a plot that shows the relationship between driveshaft torque and driveshaft speed. I guess you plan to explain something based on this data?
