Re: Looking to buy an RX8 - Never owned one before

I think I would buy the most perfect black PZ I could find and spend the rest making it perfect. Damn good advice - that,s exactly what I tried to do, very happy so far! :D https://tnttvg.am.files.1drv.com/y4mZVvr8PVzBqQIbcXWOrAi9T5gl2h-9rXlgVnt31PiGAFEvzMFB22S7sQfE4hYV9aPcprXGXh32TSaR-03u8-7cONYel...

Re: Looking to buy an RX8 - Never owned one before

This would give you the opportunity to experience how a well sorted RX-8 should drive like and, potentially, have someone experienced to join you in looking at possible purchases. I think this is really good advice - RX8's have to be driven differently to normal cars, especially if you are used to ...

Re: Looking to buy an RX8 - Never owned one before

Lots of good advice and I would echo Shagrington's comments about being able to get something really special I paid £5k for my PZ four years ago - right at the top of the market However, it was a one owner (club member from day 1) car, only used as a weekend car, only driven in the dry, always garag...

Re: Rx8 as a third car?

My RX8 is a second car and only used in the dry for fun! I only do 1k to 2k miles per year and it spends most of its life in the garage hooked up to a CTEK battery charger. I might go two months between outings and I've never had any problems (its always warmed up fully and given a good thrashing wh...

Re: Living with a rotary - 3 Years in

Doubt it would show on the fuel trims, but just in case it helps.....I had a Fiat Coupe for 10 years and twice experienced a leaking injector. Both times one of the symptoms was slower starting before things progressed to intermittent running on 4 cylinders (5 pot turbo - great engine) before I got ...

and, for gods sake, don't buy 5 liters of oil, chuck it in the boot and find the top was not screwed on properly........

ended up taking the carpet out after that one.....
I did the same with petrol for the mower

Certainly sounds like an oil burp - perhaps worth checking if your MAF is covered in oil
Hopefully should be fine

Re: Living with a RX-8

Welcome! My PZ is a weekend car and only gets driven twice a month or so. It starts no problem after sitting for two weeks, sometimes more (although I always drive a decent distance when I take it out) Sounds like you have a power drain or the battery may be past its best. If the battery is more tha...

Re: Hi all, newbie here

Welcome! You're probably already aware that the ignition system on the 8 is of vital importance - if you don't know when the coils were last changed or their history, best to replace them with something reliable (either Mazda revision C or Ryan Rotary) - cheap eBay knockoffs will soon block your cat...

The thread subject looks like either the title of a cheap novel or the punchline of a joke. Sorry I can't help with the actual question It was a dark night, the rain had been coming down for hours, soaking the city to the bone. Who knows, maybe the water would wash away some of the dirt and grime t...

Bigg Red caliper refurb

Had a problem with the OSF caliper so purchased a set of 2nd hand calipers (they were a mess) from eBay (£40) and sent them to Bigg Red for a refurb - I went for midnight blue and replacement of all bolts, seals, pistons etc. - £185 http://www.biggreddemo.auto-guru.uk/ Really pleased with the result...

Re: Hi, im a new RX8 owner

For servicing the two nearest specialists I can think of are Rotery Revs (very well respected, located on the outskirts of Leeds) and WGT Auto Developments (seem less well known, but equally well respected, the owner Pip has huge experience in rotary engines and builds rotary race cars!) I'm running...

Re: Hello from a prospective buyer

To be fair the HME said the engine is healthy and new spark plugs would improve the results. How much would this improve results by? Humm....   Maybe someone more educated can comment on this, I cannot think of any sensible reason why new spark plugs would improve compression!

Scissor jacks were a frequent topic of conversation on the Range Rover forum I used to frequent as the one supplier with the car was clearly dangerous Many stories of them failing and almost everyone replaced the scissor jack with a Mercedes Sprinter jack (about £20 from ebay) I have used the scisso...

If the compression is only 4.7 on both rotors (as per the original for sale thread) this will likely magnify any other weakness re. starting

Avoid short journey and pootling around at low revs
The rotary needs to be red lined (or close) regularly to prevent carbon build up

Gents, my car doesn't get much use and the front drivers side caliper seems to be sticking My local garage replaced the slider bolts when it was in for an MOT a couple of weeks ago (all passed ok) but its not fixed the problem I've been looking at various options and it seems to be cheaper to buy a ...
