Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Irregardless, all the aftermarket cats/decats I've seen with sensors mounted in a different place still allow the factory O2 sensor cable to reach it without a problem.

Re: refurbishing the PZ lightweight alloys - will it add weight and reduce structural rigidity?

I don't quite understand how a refurb would reduce their strength and add more weight... what did you have in mind?

You sometimes have to be careful with powder coating - it seems like some alloys don't like the high heat that some companies use.

Re: Coil pack testing

Oh, pushed as in RPM! Sorry I thought you meant pushed regarding charge times. See my graph on Phil's Mazdaedit thread, you can safely charge D585s for twice as long as you would a Mazda coil at redline - yes it's less than what you get in the midrange, but like RRB pointed out your VE has dropped a...

Why would a D585 perform WORSE when you charge it for longer (I.e to the dwell they were designed to run at) ?

Edit: misunderstood

That guy was in the audience of a comedy club in London a year or so ago and was certainly looking a little worse for wear and um, not as well-spoken  though, the lady he was with seemed a little more of a handful.

Re: Gauge help needed

They might not be wired in correctly.

I believe something along the lines of: red to a constant 12V supply (to keep it remembering the settings).
And yellow to a switchable 12V that actually powers the gauge and lights it up.

Something like that anyway, maybe.

Yeah I get what you mean. I was thinking mostly that an engine that has even compression across the faces Similarly, [even compression] has been wildly overestimated as [a good thing]. In the vast majority of cases, it means very little compared to results being high or low. I've tested cars with o...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Think of it like trying to light a fuse.

A bigger lighter only helps up to a point.

If your fuse is 1 meter away then it doesn't really matter how big your lighter is, realistically
A big ol' thick fuse (excess fuel/air to ignite when highly boosted) then you do need chunky coils.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Having a good ignition systems also going to help alot with starting up even with ehhh compression, surely? Not exactly - you can have the best ignition on the planet but it won't combat a lack of air/fuel mix. If anything, ignition makes the most difference when you have excess air/fuel to ignite ...

Coolant without the Bitrex is delicious, such a shame that it'll kill you as it's cheaper than Dr Pepper. It wasn't quite diesel, but me and a mate went camping before a day of wakeboarding - queue BBQ, drinking, debauchery and firebreathing with paraffin before heading off to bed. Said-mate woke up...

Keep in mind that cylinder deactivation in piston engines has the capability to control intake and exhaust valves to reduce pumping losses.

With our ports being fixed gaping holes with nothing that you can really do about it... yeah.

I am reliably informed that LC Rotary / LC Motorsports is "no more" as a company ... no idea how this affects the OP but I suppose that makes the decision to "de-list" them as rotary specialists on the forum a bit easier?

Re: Breaking track car

The only bits I'm surprised haven't found a good home are the gearbox (is this too expensive?) Nah about right I'd say! Probably just that £150 for a box and £150 for fitting is a bit of a spend for most, just be patient. The boxes are quite sought after for kit cars I do believe so if no one on he...
