Those springs are brand new Tein lowering springs, the rust you refer to is a rubber sleeve where it meets the shoe on the shocker, they have them on the top too as standard.
Interesting choice of colour. Looks just like rust!

Are you going to sort those springs out as well? Mine were starting to corrode a little too so they are getting powder coated.

Re: Driving potential RX8s to buy. Feedback needed.

If you are coming out of a hatchback or a family car then the steering is going to feel heavy. It’s a sporty car so it will have some weight. It may be worth double checking the tyre pressures are right as that can contribute to more weight on the steering and tyre noise.

This is mine at Essex Rotary. Looks like it has a bar that has replaced the cross brace that the engine is tied to.

Re: Front subframe removal

This is mine before I paint it, lower arms have been sourced from Boston rotary and upper arms ordered from Mazda, this is an R3 subframe. My front and rear subframes were getting pretty bad so I have some 2011 ones going on. The front has a polyurethane filled core so not suitable for powder coati...

I wonder what number of cells a standard OEM cat has or where it fits on the 100/200 scale?
I thought 400 but I don't know for sure.
I think 400 cells per square inch is pretty standard but don’t know the specific one used in the stock RX8 cat.

Re: R3 Wheel Nuts

Mazda use conical. However Honda use ball so be careful which wheels they say they are for if they don’t specify the shape. https://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/muteki-super-tuner-closed-steel-wheel-nuts.html That's not entirely correct as they are fine for some OEM wheels, but you have to be careful and ...

https://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/muteki-super-tuner-closed-steel-wheel-nuts.html Important Note: Muteki lug nuts are made with tapered bottoms specifically for aftermarket wheels. These are not for use on OEM wheels! That's not entirely correct as they are fine for some OEM wheels, but you have to be...

I put some Muteki Super Tuner Closed wheel nuts on mine after the original ones started to rust. They come with a special socket that can undo them. You can’t undo them with other sockets.

It is making owning an RX8 very tricky and tiring. I’ve not seen my car since July last year. Don’t mind not having the car while we are in lockdown but would like to be ready for when things are over. Just an update would be good Take it as a positive indication that ER are busy. Unless we finally focus on the amazing power of hydrogen... In which case a lot of already made recipricating engines would be convertible...
Rotaries are already compatible with hydrogen with very little modification. There is the RX8 Hydrogen RE model.
