Re: LED 3rd Brake Light

Another thing that may be of interest to people is the potential for a small acrylic diffuser to be placed over the top. These are common in DRL strips that don't use fibre optics and produce a nice smooth light.

To echo as above, your only option is to go to Mazda. Unless Mr Carl Ryan sorts something for us lovely R3 owners of course ;)

Re: Tyre Pressures

Things to adjust if you want to change the balance of the car on turn in and on the limit: - ARBs. This is the single biggest change in feel and dynamics IMO without spending ridiculous amounts of money. Totally transformative. - Wheel Alignment. Getting a professional to adjust your wheel alignment...

Re: WTB LED 3rd (High Level) Brake Light

Not gonna lie, I quite like the double strip look.

Which strips did you use for it? The reason I ask is that I'm having some bodywork modifications done and am looking to swap mine out entirely for a single slimmer strip as a 3rd. That looks like the right kinda thing

Re: Advice on wheel colour

The bronze on mine did complement the red quite nicely, in my opinion at least! 1529851531048.jpg The thing I quite liked about the colour was that on a dull day it looked very similar to the OEM grey, but get it in the sun and it shone quite nicely. This is a side by side with an OEM R3 grey:...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I removed the goldfish from the rear lights and made use of wife and daughter's hairdryers for half an hour (on the clusters, not on myself). Thought I'd done a great job until the next cool night and the fogging appeared. Guess what I am doing in the summer of 2021...? This is an ongoing issue cau...

Re: Winter tyre recommendations (R3 wheels)

At no point does a tyre manufacturer specify what wheel size their tyres fit... I've looked through Michelin's website and nowhere does it have any information saying a PS4 tyre is only certified to fit X or Y wheel widths. If you have this information then please let me know where to find it, but t...

Re: WTB LED 3rd (High Level) Brake Light

The R3 is less sensitive when it comes to LED brake light units as the stock tails are already LED, but it is worth noting that you want a similar level of brightness from the 3rd brake or it'll look daft :)

Hi, very much appreciate your input. I’d have to say, they do look really good 👍🏻 ... and I never would have thought bronze would have worked. ... Though having said that, didn’t the Spirit R maybe have bronze wheels (of the v nicely subtle kind)? Or am I confusing it with the Circuit Trial edition...

Re: Door speaker sound proofing / deadening

I believe Skendread used dynamat, as have a few other owners that I know of, but the major issues are with components not fitting snugly and thus rattling... So perhaps start going round and replacing all the nylon panel clips and such as well.

Re: Winter tyre recommendations (R3 wheels)

*waves* standard rims will take 255/35R19, ask me how I know :D With regards to insurance invalidation, I don't think there are specifics in the UK regarding it - and there certainly aren't any safety laws or governance dictating what tyre size need be fitted. Arguably anything other than OE recomme...

That is VERY sexy Goobie. And, to be honest, not a bad price at all for a UK price.

That said, I actually prefer the style of the new wing I've fitted. There's quite a lot of MS wings floating about, I don't know of anyone else in the UK running the RM style wing that I've fitted 8)

Re: rx8 r3 best mods for track?

As above, roll bars are a glorious mod - truly transformative IMO. Tyres and wheels wise, I've done more than my fair share of experimentation :P - settle in, it's a long post! Dropping to 18s (or even 17s) can be very beneficial if you plan it out right as it can adjust the final drive ratio of the...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Weird that they did a starter cranking test, but didn't measure the RPM it spins at... That'll tell you whether the starter is the culprit or not. They were testing the battery not the starter so don’t need the starter rpm. At the bottom of the receipt it says "starter test" - so one would presume ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Best way to test is to remove the fuel pump fuse then crank and see what OBD says, that'll stop it from catching and firing up :thumleft: Cheaper than bolting on a new starter in the hopes it'll fix it. Likewise, if there is any doubt in your mind that the engine might be failing then I'd get a comp...
