Re: Rx8 192 6000 ono

Wow.. That is strong money.

Only tip would be to get the engine compression tested and put the results here. Second tip is that you'll get more from breaking it with a mod list like that than you'll get as a whole - although I understand if you'd rather sell it as a whole.

Re: d585 coils (or similar) to borrow for test

As a loyal Rotary Revs customer I have to say that is very disappointing... When I had my race extension build done I was chatting to Ben about things and he did mention that their supplier for the D585 kits were shutting up shop, so I'm presuming that has something to do with the decision but I can...

Re: RX8 Brake Pads

I really enjoyed Hawk HP+ for track.

Ultimately the RX8 is quite over-braked, so most OEM pads will do as long as you have some good, fresh brake fluid.

Re: Recommend me a tow car...

Late to the party here, but we use an 2006 A6 allroad. Much like the above mentioned 335d it drives the same regardless of whether it's towing or otherwise and delivers better MPG while than the 8 would by itself... It has the benefit (for us at least) of having 4wd and air suspension so we can rais...

All of the above comments are based on the assumption of a stock manifold. If you couple any of these with the Racing Beat manifold expect volumes to increase substantially :thumleft: This comes from experience! My car (admittedly bridgeported, but this doesn't increase audible volume) was running P...

Re: Part Numbers for Braking System

As New Duke has said, all brake discs are the same on UK RX8s, regardless of R3 or S1. Front hubs are different, but that's about it. The R3 hubs have a speed sensor that is separate from the hub, the S1 just has a connector with an integrated sensor. It's about the only part where the R3 part is ch...

Re: Tyres And Emissions

The only thing to add to that is if you went for a differential in spacers front to back as this can impact the handling characteristics of the car by making a wider/ narrower track front to back etc. Much like adjusting the suspension settings front to back you can change the handling characteristi...

Re: Help! Rough idle after engine swap and mods

I don't know. There's people who insist on using it on facebook, but the general consensus does seem to be that the K&N makes things worse. The K&N panel filter is seen as a good upgrade, though. Rather than trying to find a REVi, I'd go back to a stock intake box. It'll be cheaper and function just...

cold tyres = not good
warm tyres = nice
hot tyres = take care
overheated tyres = bad news
but who here has actually overheated tyres on the road? I'd wager there aren't *that* many that have even overheated them on track to be honest.

Re: Help! Rough idle after engine swap and mods

This sounds like a cluster-f*** in progress IMO... I know that isn't what you wanted to hear, but an engine with a very unknown history like that is probably more of a risk than buying one with known hot start issues... You'll struggle to do much with it, especially diagnosing it online. Do you know...

Re: Tyres And Emissions

could you explain why the lower profile tyre would a worse choice technically, would it be the same if it has a similar load and speed rating as the OEM fitment as well? Just curious as someone from a technical background Since you asked for the technical answer. A tyre needs a certain amount of "g...

What's the spec of the engine? May need a map?
I'd say this is an important piece of info.

Did you get a stock rebuild, or go bridgeport or half bridge? If the latter two then you may well need it mapped to idle properly.

LEDs are polarity specific as they don't work on a resistance basis in the same way that normal halogen bulbs do.

Mirror puddle lights to do - look like a right pain, have seen videos and warnings about temperature... Number plate light - not sure I'll do this as might be too bright. Mirror lights - They're easy enough to do and best to do this time of year. If you wait until it gets cold then the plastic and ...

Re: Acceleration?

So unless i'm actually racing, it is probably not worth the expense of forced induction, would you say? Not at all, FI is a great way to give yourself some more power and more usable power on the road (afterall, you spend more time in the mid-range on the road than up in the top end) - there's just...

Re: Acceleration?

Forced induction is how you 'solve' it. The RX8 is a low torque engine, which compensates by revving very high. In 1st gear you can't get the revs up 'in to the power' very quickly due to simple physics. Forced induction is usually applied to boost the lower and mid-range so this would help. The oth...

Car Covers...

Hey you lovely lot. I'm putting Frank away for the winter in a week or so and wondered what (if any) people are using for indoor car covers on their 8s? As said, it'll be indoors, so doesn't need to be heavy or waterproof but something to keep the bird sh*t off it and the dust would be good... budge...
