Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

In the big scheme of RX8 ownership replacing the battery every year for the cost of a tank of fuel probably isn't that unreasonable to ensure startups are trouble free. (not that I'll be doing that) A quick google suggests Lead acids are about 90% recyclable if disposed of properly The thing that n...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Why the jaffing heck do you buy a new battery every year?! That's hideously bad for the environment. What I choose to do with my car has zero to do with your opinion. I use a battery conditioner during hibernation, but still like to fit a new battery, and the hell with the environment.. Key word, opi...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Pulled the R3 out the garage, spent a couple of hours washing and waxing the gal, fitted a new battery - I fit a new Varta E23 every year - checked and corrected the tyre pressures,as they always lose a bit during hibernation, then took her for a 30 mile run...and fell in love all over again. Been ser...

Re: 300 Mile Club (S1 RX8s) or 325 mile club for S2 RX8s

Just a fun anecdote, I'm on 232 miles to 1/4 of a tank whilst running my race extension nutter. Those who say bridgeporting torpedo's economy are wrong 👍 I'm now not scheduled to do any long motorway journeys, so I think I'll struggle to get to 300, but if I had to do a mega motorway journey I'd eas...

Editing and uploading a little at a time. Don't think my dad our I got pics of everyone, so sorry on that. My dad was taking most of them, so apologies that they are heavily weighted toward me 😂

Re: ***TRACKDAY, Cadwell Park - Monday 2nd March £99***

With a fun bit of lens blur this makes for a great tilt shift miniature. IMG-20200304-WA0014-01.jpeg I have to agree with Chris, though. He certainly wasn't the best. According to their Facebook page it was his first day... @Adam, if there's any chance of getting this one then I'd be very grateful. ...

Re: ***TRACKDAY, Cadwell Park - Monday 2nd March £99***

Some of the professional pics are up, including those from the private shoot. I will be looking to buy some as will a couple of friends. It is much cheaper the more pics one person buys, so wondered if people wanted to do a kind of group buy to ensure the best value for money? They range from £8 eac...

I need to go through all the footage and photos, but it was an amazing track day and still my solid favourite track in the UK.

Got some good ones and will make sure they are shared. Didn't manage to capture every 8 on the track, but got a few!

Fitting a GT86 frameless rear view mirror to an RX8

Hey peeps,

I put a video together on fitting a frameless rear view mirror in to an RX8 for user Keke, however it may be of use or interest to others so thought I'd post it here too!

Cheers,

You will just end up with a scatter of light all over the place and no focus to it. Reflectors dont work as you think they do 👍

I'll try and take plenty of pictures at different stages and put a DIY thread up
Unless you are putting a bi-xenon projector in DO NOT PAINT THE REFLECTOR BOWL.

Speaking from experience, this will torpedo any light output and make your main beams fecking useless

To each their own Ian 👍

It is indeed past its best, but no worries as it'll be retrimmed shortly.

The airbag is from an NC MX5, but I believe the gloss black trim was only from the limited editions? Can't verify that though!

Re: Another cat stolen.

Another option is to make it more difficult to gain access to the cat itself. A decent thick piece of steel between the cross members would make it difficult to gain access and would thus deter an opportunist thief. Only problem I could foresee is it increasing heat buildup under the car rather than...

Re: Another cat stolen.

Why would they pick on a RX8, there must be far easier cars to get underneath? Hope you can get it sorted and back on the road soon. Potentially because they know that the RX8 cats are made of sterner stuff than most - hence the higher resale values. Like comparing stealing a fiesta to stealing a b...

Re: Indoor car cover

I have this one from Amazon. You've watched the YT vid Ian so you can see it on there. Fits my R3 perfectly, nice and soft on the inside and breathable. It is an indoor cover, though, so not waterproof, but does have plenty of velcro bits to tie it down if the place is susceptible to a breeze. https...

Obviously I'm just one future buyer, but I personally prefer the recessed looking one in the first pic (assuming they are different, as they look different)

Re: Something for the R3 owners

I asked this in a PM, but just for everyone else's visibility, gloss black versions would be awesome, as would different lens tints - orange, smoked, clear etc. :thumleft:
