Re: Buying an R3 v2

As per the above, do a buy. It looks to be a cracking car and - although style is all about personal preference - I think those wheels look pretty mega personally :P Also, as a 2010 it won't need the gearbox syncros doing either :thumleft: EDIT: One extra thing, the bolster on that driver's seat loo...

* Copper grease is not recommended for alumininum calipers like these. Brake grease is newer & better. This was in the original guide but I must have missed it.
Ceratec is the recommended one that I've heard methinks

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Thats odd. But good to know Dan! Next time my cars on the road itll be under modified insurance so agreed value would be sweet... Since I value the shell at about 1200~ or so... Which to me is more important than the engine currently in it. What you value it at, and what the insurer values it at ar...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Feel I can go and drive it properly again - agreed valuation policy agreed :race: :sign: And how much premium raise was that pray tell? Depends on the insurer, but when I tried for an agreed value insurance policy they said it wouldn't affect the premium - the way they explained it is that it's bas...

If your disc doesn't have that much rust on it, I'd suggest it's fine regardless of measurement

Kidding aside, it certainly sounds like those discs have plenty of life left in them :thumleft:

Re: PistonHeads Shed of the Week - Guess?

The RX8 is a bit of a shed staple, they have had one pretty much every year for the past 3 or 4 years now - and as has been said it's hilarious the number of people complaining about them having never owned one. I regularly see people from this forum (assumed at least as the same usernames) arguing ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

As has been stated above RE the PZ suspension to be honest. I've driven all flavours of stock Rx suspension (admittedly none in 'brand new' condition) and the PZ does handle well. My only thoughts are that you'd be spending more money on the PZ suspension than you would on coilovers. A well set up s...

Re: smaller wheels

Staggered doesn't work on the 8. Must be the same all round. Sent from my SM-G800F using Tapatalk sweeping statement is sweeping. I've run staggered on an 8 and it works just fine, ta. You have to be careful in choosing the tyres so that the rolling diameter isn't a problem, but to say "It doesn't ...

Well, first rule of RX8club is don't believe anything written on RX8club... ;) I'm kidding, obviously. That said, you'll be hard pushed, given the number sold, to find an R3 with ~30k miles for sale with better compression. I'd stake my reputation on that (whether that's worth anything or not remai...

Re: Buying an R3

We have collated compression data in the members area and the R3 is generally higher than the S1. If that's the case, I wouldn't buy one with it's lowest score being 6.5 anyway, It might go up with a good thrashing but it might not. Why take the risk if you're not in a hurry? This combined with the...

Re: Buying an R3

What an arse. You can't (in my opinion) agree a sale and then welch on it because someone offered what is a relatively small sum more. Don't get me wrong, if the other guy had offered him a grand more then we're talking different things, but £250? Sounds like the guy you were potentially buying it o...

Re: Racing Beat Anti roll bar stiffness

Lowering springs and ARBs compared to coilovers? That's a can of worms question. Currently I'm running Eibach springs, R3 shocks and RB ARBs. I like the mix of everyday damping that the R3 shocks provide, and the on track handling that the combination of ARBs and Eibachs provide. The one thing you'r...

Re: Racing Beat Anti roll bar stiffness

I can't recall where on the forum it is, but the stiffness of the various ARB options for the RX8 are around somewhere which will give you a comparison. The RB are, if I remember correctly, the stiffest of the aftermarket options, followed closely by the Whiteline. The main difference between the tw...

Re: Buying an R3

I'd say those comp test results are pretty good to be honest. fairly even across faces and across rotors. Depending on the cost of it, I'd probably buy it. One thing I would definitely check (if it hasn't been checked already) is a fast shift from 5th to 6th gear - if it crunches then you've got a p...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

It's a bit lighter than the centre caps now I've put them back in, but is only obvious when properly looking at them. I think the powder colour code was ST42, but I'll be happy to double check the receipt if you ever get yours redone. If you ever want to get the caps painted up to match exactly, yo...
