Mazdaedit is fairly simple to use for the basics.
Get baseline logs done first: Closed loop 3rd gear to the redline and Open loop 3rd gear WOT to redline.
Alternatively just pay Carl Ryan to do it!!

Re: Dealing with rust - Vactan
I've had over 20 years experience with rust from days of British classics, VW's and Jap stuff. The most important thing you can do is wash the underside of the car as often as the bodywork - especially around the arches. After that you need to be aware that bodywork rusts from the inside out. A grea...

Windscreen sun shade ?
Hi,
Can anybody recommend a decent windscreen sun shade? e.g. one that fits the RX8 and keeps it cool?

Re: Long Term Fuel Trim (LTFT) always zero
It was zero before we started the mapping process and it is still zero now. The point is that it is ALWAYS zero. Reading around on the cesspit of arguments that is rx8club.com I found the following useful post that suggests there are 3 MAF points at which the LTFT is written. https://www.rx8club.com...

Long Term Fuel Trim (LTFT) always zero
My LTFT is always zero. It never changes. I first noticed this when Carl at rrp did some MAF scaling and tuning for me with Mazdaedit.
I can see STFT moving a few % during closed loop but LTFT is always zero. It's been like this for over a year with no obvious issues.
Any ideas?

Re: Aux and vdi opening rpm
They'll be some benefit in delaying the port opening times. Have a play see how you go. If the primary is standard the SSV should be left alone but you can have a play with the VDI and APV. Hi Carl, I might be up for doing some more tuning work with your kit again. The ssv is an area that could be ...

Re: De cat vs Sports cat
Has anyone here had a VOSA roadside check? Never heard of it happening. cant remember if it was silverstone or donny but vosa were pulling some cars in on the way out last year. Police regularly do stings around Silverstone. I got pulled in an untaxed campervan about 2 years ago. Completely forgot ...

Re: exhaust set up with no drone
Mine is 2005 231 with toyosport catback, gutted OEM cat, toyosport tubular manifold, AEM copy intake. Its been MAF scaled and mapped and will spit flames in 3rd gear over-run. It drones at around 3500 but isnt too bad. I've added extra sound insulation in the boot which helps. I'm about to fit an RB...

Pro-tip: the rear belt buckle is a PITA with a baby seat. You can swap it for a genuine Mazda 3 rear buckle for extra space.
EDIT: or use ISOFIX.
We've got 5yo and the rex is still our daily driver.

Re: Electronic Throttle Body operation and calibration
A lot of this is accessible in Mazdaedit. When I remapped mine I spent a while "linearising" the pedal map as I didn't like the non-linear pedal map below 30%.

Re: FORscan for the RX8
Pretty sure the BCM controls the door locking, FORScan seems to be capable of enabling it on on other vehicles: Here is an article on it for Fiestas: https://owenashurst.com/?p=352 I drive through sketchy parts of London. The doors are always locked! @chiron I'm not aware of an interface between the...

Subscribed!!! This is great info.
I would love to know if there is a speed-locking feature available like VW's e.g. locks the doors when you drive above 5mph.

Re: reducing air intake temps
My IAT's run +2 degrees above ambient most of the time, they only rise to +15C or more when in stationary city traffic. I fitted a wrapped tubular manifold and an AEM copy intake running a custom K&N cone filter. It's also been mapped by Carl so the fan temps are reduced too. If I insulated the inta...

MOT cat needed - any good ones?

My MOT is due and the car is decatted. Are there any cheap MOT cats worth buying for MOT time?
I've had eBay specials before but they barely passed the emissions.
The car is ported, mapped and running a tubular manifold and cat back

I'm also keen to get the dodgy suppliers exposed.
