Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I am currently playing with ideas for a SOHN/COF tank and don't want to lose the huge windscreen washer tank. My first thought was one type of motorcycle 2 stoke tank but the one I got was too wide at the bottom. I've had a good look at the 192 engine bay and the only decent place I can see to plac...

Re: After market alarm
If parked on flat ground then leaving the car with the handbrake off or on just a couple of clicks may make them think twice as it will move as they try and lift. The only way to avoid this is to fit a decat but even that won't stop the scum jacking up the car on just the sheet metal by the sills be...

Re: Wheel skipping/hopping when traction lost
The design of the car with the PPF and driveline isolated from the chassis means wheelhop is one of the downsides. On my old RX8 which was high mileage suffered from such bad wheelhop that it used to cause the radio to cut out due to the vibrations, changing to polyurethane filled engine mounts help...

I've got that on my WRX, it just cuts the ignition, probably wouldn't use it on a rotary tbh as it's quite savage when the delay is turned up.

There's an OEM blanking plug in the engine that you can fit the oil sensor, think it's 1/8th BSP thread. Fitted a dongle to my Nexus 7 tablet that allows the use of Andoid Auto/Apple Carplay via a phone, took the housing out the car and brought it inside as it's so cold outside atm https://youtu.be...

Re: Catalytic Converter Thefts.
Not sure what was removed in the above post. The police now recommended that you weld your CAT to your car instead of it being bolted in but the majority of thieves simply use an angle grinder or jaws to remove them so the welding won't help, poor form imo as it's a bit like telling a homeowner to i...

Re: Track Day Standards. Driving, operating, timing, marshalling
One of the problems with the RX8 is that it's quick in the corners but slow in the straights so it's easy to get frustrated by people not moving over, imo when the blue flag is shown the person infront should have 30 seconds to get out of the way and if not then get a driver standards flag/pit in. O...

Re: ***TRACKDAY Brands Hatch - Friday 4th December SOLD OUT***
Enjoyed the day but there was lots of red flags (a Ford crashed literally a minute into the day and rolled) which ended the day early with a Mini crashing out, I got black flagged in the afternoon session due to noise so had to short shift which was a bit of a shame as the track started drying out. ...

Decided to change my gearbox oil before Brands Hatch and also went back to the normal shifter rather than the short shifter to see if it will improve the crunching when hot. IMG_20201202_150844.jpg Used this oil which is recommended by Honda S2000 owners for helping over the OEM or Redline, they hav...

ECP also sell customer returns as new stock, I got a refund for NGK sparkplugs last year as they had clearly been fitted (crush washer was flat) and marks from tool on the sides but not used.

I received some NGK plugs from the ECP store on eBay for my WRX which didn't look right (plug gaps were different for every plug) so I returned them and bought from autodoc.

It's going to depend on what Tier it's assigned, Swale in Kent currently has the highest number of infections in England so if they do blanket county wide restrictions then it may be Tier 3

I originally tried gutter guard but it melted so then used some aluminium mesh that is designed for car grills on my rear bumper, it holds its shape and is easy to mould, has lasted 3 years now with no corrosion.

Back in the 90's/2000's people used to install hidden switches for the fuel pump, doesn't stop someone with a tow truck lifting your car but stops opportunist thefts when the cars unattended. I saw on Instagram someone had their RB engine swapped Lexus IS200 stolen and the insurance only paid out th...

From the initial cold start it sounds like it's struggles so could well be a blocked cat which would also account for the overheating past 5k.ChrisHolmes wrote: Plus you may have a partially blocked catalytic converter so that needs looking at too.

Wheel power in Brockley are decent and also BMsport in Bexleyheath though they mainly deal with modified BMW's.
Have used both for my cars and they don't just follow what the machine says but listen to what setting you want for fast road/track.

Re: R3 rear light gasket changed, still getting leak into boot
I had fishbowl issues on my last RX8, solved it by getting some neoprene gasket and sticking it to the car then cutting a channel through the middle to allow the water to run out behind the lights rather than into them. 20170403_144218.jpg Cost a fiver or so for an A4 piece of adhesive neoprene, was...

Re: Attaching a numberplate to the bumper
I bought a metal numberplate in the smallest possible legal size and mounted it with magnets to the L-Bracket incase I want to remove it for any reason, due to being made out of metal it was easy to bend slightly to follow the curve of the car. I used strong doublesided tape at first to mount the br...
