Re: black friday deals

I received some NGK plugs from the ECP store on eBay for my WRX which didn't look right (plug gaps were different for every plug) so I returned them and bought from autodoc.

Re: ***TRACKDAY Brands Hatch - Friday 4th December SOLD OUT***

It's going to depend on what Tier it's assigned, Swale in Kent currently has the highest number of infections in England so if they do blanket county wide restrictions then it may be Tier 3 :?

Re: Mazdaspeed Bumper (Aerokit Replica) Mesh recommendations

I originally tried gutter guard but it melted so then used some aluminium mesh that is designed for car grills on my rear bumper, it holds its shape and is easy to mould, has lasted 3 years now with no corrosion.

Back in the 90's/2000's people used to install hidden switches for the fuel pump, doesn't stop someone with a tow truck lifting your car but stops opportunist thefts when the cars unattended. I saw on Instagram someone had their RB engine swapped Lexus IS200 stolen and the insurance only paid out th...

From the initial cold start it sounds like it's struggles so could well be a blocked cat which would also account for the overheating past 5k.

I noticed the difference in temperature in my old RX8 (no aircon) when running a CAT and then a ghetto decat, I used to wear shorts before as it got so hot  Today I setup an old generic Chinese Android headunit with a dongle to allow Android Auto/Apple Carplay, going to do the same with my Nex...

Re: 4 Wheel Alignment - Sussex, Surrey, Kent (Recommendations)

Wheel power in Brockley are decent and also BMsport in Bexleyheath though they mainly deal with modified BMW's.

Have used both for my cars and they don't just follow what the machine says but listen to what setting you want for fast road/track.

Re: R3 rear light gasket changed, still getting leak into boot

I had fishbowl issues on my last RX8, solved it by getting some neoprene gasket and sticking it to the car then cutting a channel through the middle to allow the water to run out behind the lights rather than into them. 20170403_144218.jpg Cost a fiver or so for an A4 piece of adhesive neoprene, was...

Re: Attaching a numberplate to the bumper

I bought a metal numberplate in the smallest possible legal size and mounted it with magnets to the L-Bracket incase I want to remove it for any reason, due to being made out of metal it was easy to bend slightly to follow the curve of the car. I used strong doublesided tape at first to mount the br...

I haven't gone with the fuel pump recalls yet, on the Mazda 6 it's to do with spiders which I don't think are even established in this country.

Saw this on Facebook, apparently happened just after going for the recall

Hard shifts can also be a sign of one of the engine mounts giving up, I've got a short shifter fitted and it gives a more positive feel but find it hard to get into reverse. Noticed recently that my engine temps weren't going down as quick as they used to at a constant speed after being in traffic s...

Popped out a bung in the sill and had a look at the state by the rear wheel arches, had sprayed some bilt hamber anti corrosion down them a couple of years back and the coating seems to still be intact.

Re: So my engine died today

The engine wouldn't suddenly die when running due the apex seals/tips it would be a gradual process which would cause hot start issues. How did the RAC diagnose the plugs as being fine? It's been a hot day today so it's possible that the misfire has cooked the cat which would cause the the sudden fa...

Re: R3 / S2 Forced Induction

Flow rate and bhp are directly proportional and as the FN2 is similar bhp it may be that the rotrex for that engine is also suitable for the renesis. If not suitable the S2000 kit is a C38. I was told as rule of thumb you need to upsize a turbo on a rotary around 20 to 30% to get the equivalent pow...

Re: R3 / S2 Forced Induction

Looking at how much more airflow a rotary uses compared to the equivalent powered piston engine I think that version would be slightly too small, a C38 would be better suited. https://www.rotrexshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Rotrex_Technical_Handbook_V1.5.pdf There's quite a few compressor maps...

I doubt you'd be able to use much of a Honda kit apart from the bare supercharger unit and the cooling system perhaps.

Re: R3 / S2 Forced Induction

Plenty of Honda S2000's have Rotrex centrifugal superchargers and make peak power at 9k, can double the output on a stock engine (with improved fuelling) whilst running standard unleaded which has made it more popular than turbocharging as it still retains the power curve of the NA. https://www.yout...

It's a pain that you have to buy 2 bottles of redline just for the sake of a third of the the second bottle I take off the shifter and pour it in via that instead of the upper drain plug to get a greater capacity of oil into the box, probably a placebo but it seems to extend the working time of the...
