Re: Numberplate Relocation

My last plate was a wrap on over the nose and it was commented on by the police when I was pulled over last year, nothing came of it though I decided to get the smallest legit plate possible.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Have been away from the forum for a while as circumstances changed and have had to store the RX8 at my parents, this is the first time I've used my car properly this year! I purchased a blobeye WRX for a winter car as it was going for a steal so couldn't resist and have been driving that (RX8 is too...

Re: I Saw You Today At ......

Came across a really nice looking red S1 with Aerokit on front and Mazdaspeed rear plus vents on the bonnet, A21 heading onto M25 anyone on here? Only have rear dashcam as my front one seems to be malfunctioning (think it maybe the 265gb sd card). https://youtu.be/EOzbXU9lPc8 (first 20 seconds, rest...

Re: Idle problems

Could be a fueling issue, has similar idle issues couple of years back.
Try bypassing the fuel pump resistor so the pump runs normally when idling.

I saw a Red 06 whilst we were both waiting opposite sides of the lights by the church in Beckenham high street this afternoon, pulled away pretty briskly.

Re: LED 3rd brake light

The RX-8 version that's available on ebay has resistors built in.

I took mine apart to add more powerful ultrabright LED's and had to replace the resistors with ones with different values, also put in a flasher that engages under heavy braking.

Re: What is the best short shifter for the 6 speed RX8 S1?

The axialflow gives a more 'positive' engagement compared to the stock shifter, can feel it clicking into place which is quite satisfying.

With my first RX8 the short shifter made no noise but with my current RX8 it whines faintly almost like a supercharger.

Re: RX8 Insurance

The RX8 would make a good first car as got decent driver aids and feedback plus is practical with the legroom in the rear and the size of the boot and most of all feels fun at relatively slow speeds due to the low seating position so less likely to get speeding points. Best bet would be go get a 200...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Back when the RX7 came out nothing could touch it apart from possibly the R32 GTR, remember as a kid a neighbour had an FC which was a Japanese import but didn't really know anything about rotaries back then. Passed my MOT yesterday and they brought it out front and ended up flooding it [-X Luckily ...

Is that for two stroke (looks like purple fluid) or an inline fuel pump? I'd probably used braided fuel line for peace of mind if it's fuel.

Re: Best engine oil for the RX8 231?

Anyone using a SOHN should use synthetic in the sump imo as the benefits over mineral have been proven on piston engines when it comes to big end wear.

I used to use Miller's 10W40 and now use Shell Helix Ultra 5W40.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

I had issues with my OMP lines when I fitted the SOHN, imo they are quite stressed as there's not enough slack. Weather hit 15 degrees today in London and was working from home so thought I'd wash off all the crud that had accumulated over winter, fingers crossed this will be the last of the salt an...

Re: Advice Required - Buying a dry stored RX8

Just because it's been dry stored doesn't mean much tbh if the cars still been driven in the wet. I've seen some really rusty cars that have been garaged, imo it's worse then outside if you don't have a dehumidifier, especially in winter. There's some rust showing on the engine open shot and this lo...

Could be fueling, what happens if you bridge the fuel pump resistor in the engine bay so it runs the pump at normal duty at idle?

Re: Failed MOT Corroded Sill - & - A good local bodyshop

It maybe worth having a poke about around the sills as well and do a cost benefit analysis whether to keep it or save it. My old 04 plate only had an MOT advisory for corrosion on the sills but when I had a more indepth look the rot had spread to the inside as well. Got a quote for repairing the wor...

Re: HID main beam headlights

In the RX8 I'm using some de domed Cree XHP 70's in the sidelights overdriven at 8 amps, around 7k lumen per side with a 15 degree spread that really punches the light down the road. In the WRX I'm using the Evitek F2's in place of the Halogen beam, the main beam is a 65w PIAA filament lamp it's a n...

Re: S1 vs R3 tow hook - measured with PICS!

I'm unsure of the weight, it's wider at the base than the OEM RX8 but tapers down quite a bit. I don't want to be boring, but leaving the lashing eyes in place is likely to be illegal. The police could ask you to remove them. It shouldn't pass an MOT either. Solid bits that stick out are frowned upo...

Re: HID main beam headlights

Before I upgraded to a custom watercooled main beam setup in the RX8 (probably the most powerful beams in the UK in an oem housing) I used drop in LED's, the beam focus was slightly off but that was a couple of years ago and technology has moved on so that the beam focus from LED's is pretty much th...

Re: S1 vs R3 tow hook - measured with PICS!

I think they are called tie down hooks and not tow hooks nowadays due to this, in the manuals of many cars they specifically say not to tow using them. Probably ok for trackdays just getting out of gravel being pulled straight but some tie down hooks don't protrude far enough so if you turn they wil...

Thought I'd change the oil in both my cars today, RX8 went fine but my other car was a disaster, the plug just spun in the sump with stripped threads. Do you know what your AFR is like at the top end? Could be the fuel pump not supplying enough fuel, there's a youtube video of a guy getting his rx8 dyno'd recently who had a fueling issue above 6k.
