Re: The preservation power of pre-mixing

Oddly enough my RX8 feels smoother and happier on normal 95 compared to 99.

I premix quite heavily and you can feel the difference in smoothness.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Make sure it's not hitting on the bottom lip of the dip stick tube, first time I used a pele pump it took a while to actually get it reaching far enough down to reach the oil in the sump as it was stopping at the lip.

So, you're assuming decat, but it could just be a blown exhaust ;)

Re: Underseal/Waxoyl

After my last RX8 succumbed to rust (sills were shot and the rust went into the body though it looked ok with the damage being hidden by the aero kit) I looked at over a dozen RX8's before finding my current one, all the other ones I looked at had the bubbling just starting on the rear sills. To kee...

Re: ^^^TRACKDAY Brands Hatch, Friday 6th Dec **SOLD OUT**^^^

I noticed a photographer with a red bib by Druids which had a decent camera, not sure if they were a pro or a hobbyist for the MX5 OC? Was really lucky with the weather in the afternoon as less than ten minutes after leaving the track the heavens opened. Finally spotted an Alfa 4C, surprised by how ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Was reminded earlier in the week that I've got a trackday tomorrow so got the RX8 out of hibernation at my parents, looks like a rodent has made it's home in the engine bay  Despite not being used for a long time (less than 350 miles this year  ) I held foot to the floor the first time t...

Re: ^^^TRACKDAY Brands Hatch, Friday 6th Dec **SOLD OUT**^^^

Noticed today that Google has helpfully auto added a reminder that this is on Friday, signed up near the start of the year using an early bird ticket place and completely forgot about it #-o Looking at the weather it's meant to rain for most the day and the rear tyres are down to 2mm so will either ...

My last plate was a wrap on over the nose and it was commented on by the police when I was pulled over last year, nothing came of it though I decided to get the smallest legit plate possible.

Have been away from the forum for a while as circumstances changed and have had to store the RX8 at my parents, this is the first time I've used my car properly this year! I purchased a blobeye WRX for a winter car as it was going for a steal so couldn't resist and have been driving that (RX8 is too...

Could be a fueling issue, has similar idle issues couple of years back.
Try bypassing the fuel pump resistor so the pump runs normally when idling.

Re: LED 3rd brake light

The RX-8 version that's available on ebay has resistors built in.

I took mine apart to add more powerful ultrabright LED's and had to replace the resistors with ones with different values, also put in a flasher that engages under heavy braking.

Re: What is the best short shifter for the 6 speed RX8 S1?

The axialflow gives a more 'positive' engagement compared to the stock shifter, can feel it clicking into place which is quite satisfying.

With my first RX8 the short shifter made no noise but with my current RX8 it whines faintly almost like a supercharger.

Re: RX8 Insurance

The RX8 would make a good first car as got decent driver aids and feedback plus is practical with the legroom in the rear and the size of the boot and most of all feels fun at relatively slow speeds due to the low seating position so less likely to get speeding points. Best bet would be go get a 200...

Back when the RX7 came out nothing could touch it apart from possibly the R32 GTR, remember as a kid a neighbour had an FC which was a Japanese import but didn't really know anything about rotaries back then. Passed my MOT yesterday and they brought it out front and ended up flooding it [-X Luckily ...

Is that for two stroke (looks like purple fluid) or an inline fuel pump? I'd probably used braided fuel line for peace of mind if it's fuel.

Re: Best engine oil for the RX8 231?

Anyone using a SOHN should use synthetic in the sump imo as the benefits over mineral have been proven on piston engines when it comes to big end wear.

I used to use Miller's 10W40 and now use Shell Helix Ultra 5W40.

I had issues with my OMP lines when I fitted the SOHN, imo they are quite stressed as there's not enough slack. Weather hit 15 degrees today in London and was working from home so thought I'd wash off all the crud that had accumulated over winter, fingers crossed this will be the last of the salt an...

Re: Advice Required - Buying a dry stored RX8

Just because it's been dry stored doesn't mean much tbh if the cars still been driven in the wet. I've seen some really rusty cars that have been garaged, imo it's worse then outside if you don't have a dehumidifier, especially in winter. There's some rust showing on the engine open shot and this lo...
