Re: Ranjan's MX-5 Track car.

If only you had been the first to ask me about them you could have had my RX8 set for free; I gave them away the day after the AGM.

Because the proper track car is having them fitted I fancy trying something different like Penske or Skunk.

Re: Ranjan's MX-5 Track car.

Managed to fit in some shopping for the MX5; if and when I can ever manage to collect it during these troubled times. Bought two fibreglass doors which weigh 4kg each, from Easyrider GRP Laminates; saving a whopping 48kg on OEM. Have asked them to quote me for a bootlid and bonnet. Together that lot...

Re: Ranjan's MX-5 Track car.

Flippin’ heck :!: That has to be the worst thing one can do to a NA 5. All that extra front weight would induce so much understeer entering a corner and then mid corner the back would go really light; and don’t think about trail braking mid corner either. Braking hard in a straight line would also ...

Re: Ranjan's MX-5 Track car.

Having realised that getting my MX5 project off the ground in these troubled times is going to take a lot longer than originally anticipated, so while I am trying to get my rolling chassis from Japan to the USA I thought I would buy a stop gap; so have bought this (item number: 264675978922) off eba...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Are those springs the two part ones held by a rivet? Sent from my SM-G800F using Tapatalk Nope, it’s a large one piece item and it just cannot come out as it is, hence my theory it fatigues and breaks under the central retaining pin. Looks like the ones i bought from Ranjan I thought they were raci...

Re: Good riddance

Bought two of the Mk1 racing shells, both recently refurbished and looking immaculate in white.
Am going to ship them straight to the States but will have to wait until this pandemic is over. I am having a palaver just getting them collected from the seller :censored:

Received a phone call 10 minutes ago from my contact in Japan saying they have found 3 ex-Racing mk1 bodyshells that would suit my requirements; it’s finally coming together.
Will have to outsource the viewing, damn it.

Re: Good riddance

Dom yes, loads implied and not stated  Dry sump is going to be important as I never push a car to its limits on track unless it has one. Also, it will allow me to lower the engine and hence COG, increase rpms and horsepower, and use ceramic brakes; all win/win, the only downside is going to be ...

Re: Good riddance

Well, nothing in Mazda world seems to be straightforward; firstly, a big thank you to Clive who spoke to Roddinson for me and gave me invaluable advice from trackside. It seems forced-induction MX5 engines just do not survive on track and I double-checked with a friend in the USA who tracks a turbo ...

Dom, thank you that made interesting reading. I will be going down the forged route as I want at least 300bhp and I will be stripping as much weight as possible and using carbon body panel. Pandem do a carbon version of their kit for the MX5 which I will be looking to fit as below. https://i328.phot...

Thank you, you lot for your kind words.
