Re: Bleeding Brake Problem

Random idea:

Reconnect the ABS module.
Disconnect the battery for a minute, then reconnect.
Immediately drive the car without performing a steering angle reset. The slippy car orange light will illuminate but ABS is still active.

This might help point at ABS module vs DSC fault/interference.

Re: Trackday Batteries- 2019 Revist

FTR, I ran the same battery as Pete for 3 years, incl 2 hour races with no issues. Relocation to the passenger compartment is relatively easy. It's cooler in there.

Re: Liam's race car project

The RX8 is now in its new home in Switzerland where it will be competing in hill climbs (no race tracks in Switzerland!).

Most of the spares went with it, but he forgot to take the splitter/diffuser templates.

Can anyone here put them to good use? Would be nice if the IP stayed in the club.

Z4 3.0 si Coupe. 262bhp as standard and a mini GT racer in the making. My target is to turn it into a Roadsports class B winner (240bhp/ton).Image

Re: Liam's race car project

It is with mixed emotions that my RX8 adventure is coming to an end. The car will go up for sale over the next day or two so that I can fund my next race car project. I have the motorsport bug pretty bad, and it just makes you want to go ever-faster. For me, that means starting with a car that has m...

Re: RX-8 Trophy, new racing class for 2019

Same with 750MC regs. Bridgeport will put you in Class B which is 240bhp/ton @flywheel. That's a lot to ask of a N/A Renesis

Re: Liam's race car project

I did a full 2 hour race back in April and 2x 100 minute races in the July heat. The brakes are consistently awesome. Carbotech XP8 on the front, but bear in mind these are Brembo 4-pots and thicker discs, so the heat dissipation is better than OEM. Hawk street race, and latterly Project Mu on the r...

Re: Liam's race car project

Finally pulled the Birkett video together. Compare and contrast the wet & dry stints! :D https://youtu.be/P_9q459787A Looking over the lap times, the car is now *over 5 seconds* quicker around the Silverstone GP circuit than 2014. Very satisfied with how much speed I've extracted from the car over t...

Re: The Kraken- RX8 Trackcar

Gatebil, awesome!

Loving the roof vent. Got any internal photos?

Be careful about the rear number plate vent drawing in water on wet days. It'll get real foggy, real quick when it hits the boot area above the exhaust.

I have loads of spare jiffy bags and large letter stamps to use up before I move out, I already had your address from that engine bolt, and there happened to be a Twirl in the fridge :P couldn't resist.
LOL! Arrived just in time for lunch, too! All gone now :)

Re: Liam's race car project

BTW, the Birkett was great fun. 45 mins in the dry followed by 45 mins in the wet.

Only one snag... my new clutch is shot. Just when I thought I had nothing to do over the winter...Image

Re: Liam's race car project

...if the 1st car out crashes out of the race, do the other 3 still get to do their 90 minutes? If not, that's a bit of added pressure for the drivers! So long as you only ever have one car moving on the circuit at a time you can do what you like with strategy. So if you crash and/or break down the...

Re: Liam's race car project

As I missed a good chunk of the summer meetings with the engine swap I've entered one of the end-of-season special events for a bit more action. So this Saturday I'll be in the 750MC Birkett 6 hour relay race at Silverstone (GP circuit!). It's a team event, with a handicap format, so anyone can win....

Re: Bleeding Brake Problem

ive had rediculously stubborn air locks before. completely imossibke to bleed, until i did what i mentioned. Me too. The overnight wedge is a goodun. When this also failed, bleeding with engine running was the answer. So I disagree with warpcoil about it only being about servo. Sent from my LG-H870...

Re: Bleeding Brake Problem

Locking front left means that caliper is working. Focus on the front right now. Bleed just that one a few more times, with the engine running.

Can't be the sensors. If in doubt, pull the ABS fuse.

Re: Liam's race car project

I thought it would be interesting to chart my Snetterton 300 lap times, as it's the only track I've raced at every year in the RX8. Actually, I've raced there every year since the very first meeting on the "300" layout back in 2011. Oct-2014 2:18.47 (Toyo R888) Sep-2015 2:19.37 (Federal 595RSR) Jun-...

Re: Liam's race car project

Here's the Snetterton video (qually and race) https://youtu.be/t4gNTTv3R18 Looking back on the qually lap I'm surprised how early I can chase the throttle on the way into each corner. I've been thinking recently that I'm being beaten on mechanical grip. I'm pitting fairly tame Federal 595RSRs agains...
