I wouldn't expect that 15% gain all the time but on light throttle cruising.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Numbers I've no real idea.
I think I kicked off saying what were the possibilities of doing something like this.
If I could trade 10% of power output for a 15% fuel economy gain, for the low hundreds cost that would probably be worth it.
Assuming that trade is not defying the laws of physics!

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Might there be any gains to be had by flowing and polishing to improve the breathing of the engine, or did Mazda get that pretty well right in production?

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Thanks for the recent helpful comments on my [admittedly] unusual query. PeteH's points are exactly what I was looking for. 1 looks very interesting, I wonder what would be different, (and what are AFRs?). 2 also a possibility 3 I couldn't do without wing/door mirrors, but a flat floor could be good...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

It may be better to discuss this idea elsewhere, so mods would you move it or tell me where it should be, please? I would be very interested if there was a way to increase the economy of the RX8 even if that meant reducing the power output. I realise I will be in a minority, maybe of 1, but it bothe...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Following Dave's advice re. screen wash additive [ I had no idea previously about being careful what to use] I've bought some of the Sonax [5l for £20]. (NB some of the Sonax 1l bottles on Amazon are for summer use, but the description does'n't make that clear.) I'm going to empty and flush out the ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Maybe I should have added that [IIRC] he said it didn;t matter about the clamp, as the two parts of the exhaust were so well rusted they weren't going to come apart. :) / :( I don't think he was concerned about the rusting at the back, just that it was much more evident there than at the underneath ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Picked up the car having successfully passed an MOT test. 😁
There were two advisories
1 that the clamp in front of the back section of the exhaust is very rusty, and
secondly the back of the car underneath is much more rusty than the front.
Are both of these common problems?
