Re: tmk's JDM RX-8 2011/S2, for fun mods

Just been doing a little reading up on the Japanese Shaken test

In comparison,we have it pretty easy over here :!:

Re: Fuel Trims

The MAF seems to be showing a higher reading than normal for idle - it's usually about 5g/s I believe :-k

The elevated fuel trims show extra fuel being added - perhaps to compensate for an airleak :?:

Re: R3 rear light condensation

Graham, the way I've always done it on mine,is to remove the indicator and reversing light bulb holders, and place the lamp units in fron of an elextrix fan, with the warm blowing in thru' the holes for the bulb holders..A hairdryer will also work. When you refit the lights, make sure the rear panel is ...

This explains why the R3,with it's factory fitted LED rear lights, has separate reflectors in the rear bumper, above each tailpipe :thumleft:

Re: Anyone installed one-touch passenger window?

..If the windows are steamed up... Then you have the car's interior climate incorrect..,RX8's ideally need the A/C running in cold/wet weather to keep the windows clear,or at least the dash vents angled up toward the sideglass, with the heat set to hot,and the fan on fairly high  If the side g...

Re: Anyone installed one-touch passenger window?

Aren't most cars with electric windows the same :?: :-k Obviously the driver's window is made 'one shot' so the driver only has their hand off the wheel for the briefest necessary time, and since the driver may only need to open the passenger window very occasionally,a one shot function is almost cer...

Fair comment, but if he goes with the 'generic' used car warranty provider - and those aren't usually worth the paper they're printed on - they may point him toward a 'bodgitt & scarper ltd' kind of place :shock...

Useful info,Pete,as always, and good to know, since my Carbone Lorraine RC5 pads which I have front & rear, are also designated 'not for road use' ;) Can't fault their stopping power tho'..nothing short of spectacular  Only 'downside' is the sub-20MPH squeal, which is often loud enough to turn p...

Re: Coolant - a few questions

Gotta admit..coolant change is the one I've never had done, since taking ownership over 5 years ago

Admittedly, there's never been an issue, and the R3 never ventures out in winter, but it looks like it's high time for a refresh..

Re: Newbie needs info

There is a cold shut-down procedure that entails holding the car at 4K revs and switching off,but this is a LAST resort,to avoid flooding. On any RX8,if the engine is no longer fast-idling,and the temp gauge is registering substantially,it's safe to switch off normally. On the R3 you also have the vi...
