Re: Brake Depot discs

In case anyone's still with me (!!), Brake Depot have not just specifically put the package that I wanted (swirled discs and yellow stuff pads) together, but also added it to their catalogue: http://www.brakedepot.co.uk/shop/product-info.php?Mazda_RX-8_Grooved_Brake_Discs_and_Pad_Kits-pid30843.html ...

Re: Brake Depot discs

Hi Tiberion Those are from Brake Depot, then? They also look good. I think am going to opt for the swirl design, as I remain unsure about 'dimpling'...but the helpful people at Brake Depot have informed me that the two perform much the same (apparently the 40G grooved ones (which have a lot of groov...

Re: Brake Depot discs

All looks good. I suspect the only remaining question is whether there's actually any tangible benefit in grooving/swirling/dimpling on the discs (in terms of brakin ability)...albeit that they look a little better! I've read that the grooving leads to quicker pad wear, which sounds logical...so the...

Re: Brake Depot discs

RIGHT! Again, they're back with the answer quick-sharp! This is what they've replied with: "The only discs that we have ever used for the Mazda RX8 are Mintex discs but it is only recently that we have been sending them out in the Mintex boxes, we have to be careful with manufacturers as we don’t wa...

Re: Brake Depot discs

Just in case anyone's (even vaguely!) interested, I have gone back to Brake Depot as per the following: " Thanks very much for the prompt and helpful reply. My contact from the RX8 owners club tells me that the discs he received are of a high standard, but he did specifically say that they were unbr...

Re: Brake Depot discs

So, have had the following response from Brake Depot (impressively fast!): "Hi, Thank you for enquiry. The discs that we use in the kits that are advertised at the current prices on ebay and our website are Mintex brand and will be sent out in Mintex boxes. We can price any brand of discs and groove...

Re: Brake Depot discs

Cheers Phil - appreciated. I have similarly emailed Brake Depot, and even mentioned the RX8-OC to see how prepared to stand by the product they are... Will post back with their response. As you say, if the discs are TMD Friction, then there's no reason at all that they shouldn't be of a high standar...

Re: Brake Depot discs

They do look good - thanks. And no problems with them? Have you ever tracked your car with them on? The saving on these is hilarious, and thus there's quite a draw to going the cheap route... At risk of asking an idiotic question, what do you paint them with? Cheers v much for your help, mate. Rich

Brake Depot discs

Hi all Was just wondering if anyone had any experience of brake depot 'own branded' brake discs? They seem too good to be true...so you can't help wondering whether they're actually sh!te or not!! They've got several variants available...but who knows what the quality's like? http://www.brakedepot.c...

Re: your car history

Re: Stationary Gear bearings

The great thing about this forum (and others) is the vast range of information and opinion that is available. It would be very difficult for the club to do anything more that summarise what has been posted - and this has been done on several occasions - one excellent example HERE . Apologies for ra...

Re: Trackday Helmet

Sorry to be entering the fray quite so late on this...but after a good deal of research, was keen to share the below brand that I've stumbled across: http://www.v2sport.com/index.html. There's a good deal of discussion about them (the magic of google, but also especially on pistonheads.com), but the...
