Re: Replace / upgrade your S1 fuel pump - DIY

It went back on without too much fuss, and tourqed up to 80ish before the the tool started slipping, but the pump is well compressed and not "springy" with no leaks so that works for me.

The tool does slip a bit, and is far from refined, but works much better than the "le bosh" method.

Re: Mallory Park under Threat - e Petition

Had an email from Focused Events, saying that they have met with the circuit and are arranging bike track days for this year. They also say that the circuit has had a few facility improvements including the cafe being re opened. Things are looking good.

Re: Replace / upgrade your S1 fuel pump - DIY

I had a second crack at this today, but with the removal tool and it made the job so much easier, it still took a lot of force to get it moving, but only took a couple of minutes. And minimal risk of damaging anything. £18 well spent, but do remember you also need a 24mm socket and breaker bar (tour...

Re: Replace / upgrade your S1 fuel pump - DIY

The LTFT will be showing 0% because it's not had enough time to start trending a long term trim after the reset. I had to put mine back together today because the ring wouldn't budge, ant today it's chucking it down. so after the trim reset my LTFT is back to 0% also. Interestingly I moved the car w...

Re: Replace / upgrade your S1 fuel pump - DIY

How hard was it for you to remove the ring with the screwdriver/hammer bosh'it method?

Mine won't move at all, not a single notch.

Also it may be worth clarifying that the fuel pump fuse needs to be removed, not the fuel relay.

Re: How to - fit Rotary Revs/BHR D585 coils

It's also worth mentioning an alternative mounting point for those who want a neater, more subtle install.

It's the battery ground mounting point just under he left hand side of the air box tray.

Re: DIY Oil Cooler Grills

Note: This is for the S1 RX8, not the R3. I can't imagine the method is any different, but the sizing may be. If you have an R3 and would like to try this and give me the correct sizes I will update the original and give you the credit, because I'm nice like that

DIY - Oil Cooler Grills

We all know that our oil coolers are vulnerable to stone chips and debris. There are aftermarket solutions out there such as the Lockwood Grills, but these come at a price, for what is essentially a cheap piece of mesh. The "Tight Arse" in me got thinking, and I found a simple cost effective, DIY so...

You could always go for a drive up to Demon Tweeks in Wrexham, they stock lots of different nuts and are usually pretty helpful.

Re: Trackday Helmet

Once you brought a helmet you cant exchange it, unless its faulty. False, a lie told to you by lying dealers. If purchased online you have the protection of the Distance Sellling Regulation to return it within 7 days. If purchased in store, you should have no need to exchange it as it should be fit...

This is a good read for those interested Motorsport Helmet Standards Explained

It's from Arai, but is unbiased.
Also its based on 2010 spec, so if you are reading this from the future be wary as they will likely have changed.

I know this is an old tread, but one point that was raised was the difference between a motorcycle helmet and a car specific helmet. Ece2205, the bike standard is aimed a testing several specific points of impact, and ensuring that the head form inside does not receive a shock over the required spec...

. . . . and even cheap ones don't crack now, unlike the polycarbonate ones that you could buy when I first started riding bikes (but that was 36 years ago) This is wrong, modern polycarbonate helmets do still crack, and a lot more often than we know about. Most are are produced to a budget in two h...

Re: Cleaning the engine bay?

I used Autoglym Engine Cleaner Clicky and a Stiff Bristled Brush. Simply spray, on leave 5 min, agitate with brush spray a bit more for all the bits you missed and rinse off with clean water from the hose pipe, no pressure, no heat, no shampoo. The cleaner does all the work. If you have an Air hose ...
