Re: Track tyres....
The Potenza Sport does look good, but I’ve never tried them as they are very new. Do consider the Goodyear Supersport though as they work well in all circumstances. Who knows if the Bridgestones like cold, wet conditions. The ones that came with the car when it was new certainly didn’t. But if you d...

Re: Track tyres....
I do most of my track days in the winter months due to work schedule and lower prices. I’ve found that semi slicks like the NS2R still work in cold dry conditions but with a wet or slippy track they just won’t heat up and have no grip. To cut a long story short, I have been using Goodyear Eagle F1 S...

Re: Lighter wheels or coilovers for better body/wheel control and damping?
It is the tyres that are causing you problems. I use the Supersport, as they are a great track day tyre, wet and dry. The reason they are so good is that the the sidewalls are stiff and that does not translate to a comfortable ride. They are still a good road tyre, rain or shine if you can put up wi...

Re: Tyre Pressures
I don’t have a clue about suspension setup but can offer you experience of the tyre you are using. I use the Eagle F1 Supersports myself (same size), car is an S1 with PZ suspension, standard geometry. They are a great tyre if, and that is a big if, you do trackdays. They work amazingly well on trac...

Re: Fantastic Tyre Review Test
I noticed that Tyre Reviews has another video out, comparing the various Goodyear tyres. They are testing Assymetric 5’s, Supersports and Supersport R’s. All performance tyres with the latter tyres being more biased towards the track, but all three seem to offer good wet grip. The Assymetric 5’s and...

Re: Problem with steering rack
I had similar problems myself about a year ago. I posted here about it and got some helpful responses. However I forgot to post my solution. Having gone through the various steps mentioned in previous posts, I still had problems. Although, I would mention that the universal joint needed attention. I...

Re: Slider pins seizing after track days
Thanks for the replies so far. I think that perhaps I have been using too much grease in the past and may still be using slightly too much. That said, I feel that problem with the sliders seizing is caused by the Ceratec, “drying” after the track day and the sliders seizing due to having no effectiv...

Slider pins seizing after track days
I’ve used my RX8 on countless track days and have always found the standard calipers to be up to the job, even with road pads. However, I’ve also found that after every track day, the brakes need to be cleaned up and the slider pins greased. If this isn’t done the sliders seize, and the pads wear at...

Re: Track day or road rubber on standard car?
Thanks for the interest in my questions everyone. Well, by the sounds of it the Ultrac Vorti tyres are the next ones to go on the car and seem to be good for use on the track too. I have found that as I've got faster on track I have been punishing the Ultra Sessantas in the dry. I think times have m...

Re: Track day or road rubber on standard car?
Interesting to hear that the track rubber is poor in the wet. I'm only luke warm on bringing an additional set of rims and tyres to the track, but could. R888's are not cheap though. Due to cost, most of my track days are in the winter and are likely to be damp at best, so I may well stick with the ...

Track day or road rubber on standard car?
I've been tracking my RX8, for several years. It has a standard suspension setup and the only modifications are track day pads and dot 4 brake fluid. I 've been running on Vredestein Ultra Sessanta tyres, getting 800ish track miles out of them. They are good on and off track. For me, track days have...
