Re: Questions for Bilstein B8 'SPRINT' shortened damper owners

Hi Phil,
You can always alter a perch, can be done in several ways so see what you need.
You should have gone for the PZ group buy and we could have modified in ;)
B8’s are inferior [-X (they offered to modify those cheap)

Re: RX8 Brake Pads

I have mintex m1155 front and rear. After 8 track days they are now starting to get to the end of their life. Very strong braking with no fade. I will buy again. I haven't tried them in cold weather yet When I first had the Mintex pads made for the club I had 44,s 55,s and 66,s made I tested variou...

I won't be buying them till next summer time probably so... who knows might have a group buy by then. :p Quest meads sister company make Mintex pads under licence from Mintex in small batches like the 1144’...

Re: ^^^TRACKDAY, Mallory – Saturday 9th November @ £119^^^

Nigel, If the RX8 has not returned from Rotary Revs by this time I have decided to bring the 720S down; want to see how it feels round Gerards. Also, you can play with it to your heart's content. Ranjan. So what’s a 720S ? I have a spare Rx-8 if you prefer, I know you want to test the PZ suspension...

Re: RX8 Brake Pads

Hi and as you have found there are lots of opinions on brake pads. The OEM pads were actually very, very good, ( The Formula woman race series used them ) all the cheap pads available are not as good as OEM. ( I was surprised by them ) The truth is simple : ( one size does not fit all ) horses for c...

Re: 231 Bridge port lighten and balanced

Pulley will be ok and a clutch pressure plate has a basic balance from new.
You could get the pressure plate dynamicaly balanced on it’s own if you wanted using a balanced flywheel
To answer your question they would be ok but could possibly be improved slightly.

Re: wheel weights

Hi Carl, The S1 wheels tend to average around 10 Kls but I have seen some at 9 Kls (I believe there may have been two manufacturers) PZ wheels were reputedly 8 Kls but all the ones iv’e weighed have been 9 Kls Remember powder coating a wheel this size can add a Kl if weight is important to you. Re: Opinions on Dry Sump Pricing

I don’t think anyone took it as a challenge Dave I thought you were just checking the application to see if it was necessary or not The pace pump does need to be belt driven but they are world renowned and do an excellent product. I did consider the USA version as well. Perhaps a few people could ge...

Re: Opinions on Dry Sump Pricing

I would like to dry sump an RX-8 at some point. I’m a little nervous of lapping any quicker with the existing set up. We made our own dry sump system for a TVR Cerbera many years ago, pace supplied the pump because they had done one for a GT racer in the Netherlands, we cut and shut the existing all...

Good luck

Re: Does the RX8 need XL tyres?

Thanks for this Conan! Other thing that I was wondering about was sidewall flex, wouldn't that be an issue with 235 width tyres? Joining the club would gain you 5 seconds per lap ;) 235 x 40 means 40% of 235 is sidewall hight 225 x 45 means 45% of 225 is sidewall hight The 235 lowers the car 7 mm s...

Re: Does the RX8 need XL tyres?

Hi Pete, Why would you not recommend 225/40R18? I'm aware of the smaller rolling diameter, but any other reasons? 235/40r18 would have a higher rolling resistance wouldnt it? Toby Hi Toby. I think this is addressed to me : I don’t want to get into a massive argument over tyres and I don’t say I’m a...

Re: Tyres And Emissions

defining a 225/40 Michelin pilot sport as not fit for use compared to a 225/45 Michelin pilot sport is crazy... It's not what Mazda specify for the car, but we have established they didn't make ALL of the best decisions for the car. Ultimately it's a case of using sense. If the OP had posted saying...

Re: Track tyres....

What would be the best tyre size for a trackday car on PZ wheels ie 8x18 235 x 40 x 18 is a good tyre size for the RX-8 It lowers the car 7mm, gives you a wider tyre for cornering, slightly lighter, better turn in and a touch more acceleration etc, not too much drag in a straight line for decent sp...
