Re: Tyre Pressures

Have you had a “full” suspension alignment check? Its had a full geometry change to fast road setup with corner weighting etc. Hi Toby, I jotted an answer on a piece of paper a couple of months ago in France then lost the paper and the thread, found it today so may as well post it. Your car cannot ...

Phew, I was really tempted but would have been absolutely crucified if I'd bought another, so good thing it sold quick. Glad it's still in the club. :thumleft: Alan so was I. Re: Lower seating options

At 5’ 10” you really shouldn’t have much of a problem with all the adjustments both on the seat and steering wheel. I’ve never heard of anyone that hight having problems before. The drivers seat is very heavy with the electric motor etc and the cloth seats do sit lower as well as a lot lighter. I be...

Re: Mazda 6 idle for 10 months - now stalls approaching roundabouts

Sometimes a few short runs can be best and restarting the car so it goes through the cycles a few times. As you have said it runs fine when driving just low speed tickover to relearn. May even do it up the road and back a few times turning the car off each time, it’s just try it and see really, ther...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

one thing i noticed when i had the flywheel lightened and balanced in my capri 2.8 was that in traffic it wasn't very good at idling. i realise that we are talking different engines, but what i did was raise the idle by about 150rpm,but the throttle response was almost instant, and slowing down throu...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

As others have said, lightweight flywheel and balancing the engine are good and does not make a massive difference to driveability , stick with the standard new clutch the others are too heavy and you will notice that a lot in traffic. Just an exedy friction plate would do if you can buy them separa...

Re: Is the rx8 a 10/10ths car?

He and you and many other RX8 owners may be amazing but many of we mere mortals are not and no other driver can truly predict what the fool ahead of them might do. I was very scared my first time on track especially as I wasn't in my own 8 and it was more powerful! Poor Neil must have been a wreck ...

Re: Is the rx8 a 10/10ths car?

Most track days are much more regulated than that and it's the responsibility of the person approaching faster to ensure that the overtake is safe, often limited to particular parts of the circuit and on a given side. The above is the ideal but marshalling standards have become quite lax at some tr...

Re: Is the rx8 a 10/10ths car?

I remember that video well when you dived up my left side under braking into Brookands at 10:13 and nearly rammed the Honda. Good fast driving but not really a good example of how to drive on a track day. It’s not an example of how to drive on a track day and never has been as most would realise. I...

Re: Is the rx8 a 10/10ths car?

It’s difficult to get a rubbish tyre that gives up its grip progressively
A rubbish tyre tends to be rubbish in all areas
I would suggest a good tyre with very little tread for the purpose you require .
Remember you will only be able to explore the limits on track.

Re: ***TRACKDAY Donington GP Circuit - Friday 18th December SOLD OUT***

Good to see everyone had a good time. Donington is directly in the flight path of East Midlands airport and the surface is very slippery when wet, it’s usually better when it’s fully wet for grip. I remember one race there in horrendous rain. 4 cars pulled into the pits refusing to start the race on...

Brands Hatch

MSV are legally entitled to hold the event ( fact )
Whether you are legally entitled to attend the event is a different question ( fact )
Given the time scale and situation perhaps the club should be making a decision (events team ) ?

Well done, I was going to post a similar thing.
You don’t even have to pay immediately as you could sign on as an extra driver at any time during the day or not ;)
